Another angel, who had a golden censer, came and stood at the altar. He was given much incense to offer, with the prayers of all the saints, on the golden altar before the throne. The smoke of the incense, together with the prayers of the saints, went up before God from the angel’s hand. Then the angel took the censer, filled it with fire from the altar, and hurled it on the earth; and there came peals of thunder, rumblings, flashes of lightning and an earthquake. -Revelatins 8: 3-5

 

Ready for a confession? Lately, I've felt like my prayers weren't making a difference. I didn't like that feeling because it started to affect my prayer life. I started to doubt and wonder if I should even pray at times.

See how the enemy loves to move in and make us doubt?

So I started praying, asking God to help me pray more effectively. I wanted to be a pray warrior! But I sure needed help to do that.

You know what God sent me? One of you. Lori sent me an email with the Scripture above, painting a mental picture of our prayers mixing with incense to be presented before God.

One, remember that the incense in the Old Testament that the priests of Levi were to use was very specific. They couldn't just use whatever they wanted. 

Two, I love the aftermath of this verse, that the incense combined with our prayers are hurtled back to the earth and cause the earth to shake and lightning to boom!

Now when I pray, I think of Lori's email (thank you, Lori!) and imagine my prayers in those censors before God, mixng with the prayers of so many other believers and shaking the world! Makes me also think of that verse that says when we speak God's Word to Him, it doesn't return void (Isa. 55:11).

I shared recently that I was praying Psalm 34:4 for myself: "I sought the Lord and He heard me and delivered me from all my fears."

I have prayed and spoken it aloud as prayer and praise. Guess what? That fear I was battling is gone. My prayers (and those of many others) came back to me in a powerful way and rocked my world!

Maybe I'll be a prayer warrior yet. 😉

    Oh I love that verse! Our Pastor spoke of it a few months ago and having that visual really changed things for me. God really does hear them! Such a good feeling. He heard yours and took you to a whole new level in His love. What the enemy meant for harm, God used for good! (((Hugs)))

    confession….the day I found your blog was an answer to prayer because I felt like my prayers weren’t making a difference…I had lots of doubt…this blog and your and Lynn’s comments and prayers and testimonies lit a spark in my heart and got me going again…Praise God for the people He lines along our paths…He knows what we each need and when…I am so encouraged that I was able to help you! Thank you again for this blog and your testimonies and your friendship!!

    I gave out a shout “Yeah!” when I read that verse. Our prayers shake the earth. Too cool. When you get frustrated, remember that persistence counts with prayers.
    I’m working on a little computer based course about praying. Is the photo that you used copy righted? It’s too cute.

    thats how i feel,,,,,i know God hears my prayers but right now my head and heart dont believe it when things get worst,,one often wonders what you did wrong?

    Teresa, it’s an image you can purchase on iStock.com. Just type in pray or prayer and you’ll see lots of images come up. Just follow the guidelines for usage. Sounds like a wonderful course. Hope you’ll tell us more about it. 🙂

    Hi gocuba, sometimes what seems to be getting worse is the process of refinement that must happen in order for the good to move in. Like a wound being cleaned, it’s painful but necessary. And the wound will look worse afterwords, but only then can the healing start. Otherwise it would just fester. Those times are hard, I know, but you’re doing exactly the right thing by asking God for help. He will. Trust Him to do so. Wait and watch what He does. Remember Romans 8:28. Hugs!

    Thank you for that. I too, was having difficulty in believing or failing to see the results of my prayers. I would pray, prayer would be answered and then overturned where I prayed again for the event to happen again. I gave up. I felt defeated, because some prayers would stick and this one situation would make me doubt, until the holy spirit sent a message through a Joel Osteen newsletters and backed it up with one of your newsletters, reminding me that God hears our prayers and that we must not give up but continue to believe that He is making a change and remember that it is in His plans and His time not ours. God knows what is best and in the end the prayers that have been answered, I can see why the delay because there are steps to be taken to ensure the prayer is answered. But we must never stop praying,for the enemy is still working to pull our loved ones back from the answered prayer.
