Star We also have the prophetic message as something completely reliable, and you will do well to pay attention to it, as to a light shining in a dark place, until the day dawns and the morning star rises in your hearts. – 2Peter 1:19

I loved reading this particular verse this past week because its reference to Christ as a morning star is so profound. This connects the prophetic reference to Christ’s coming in Numbers 24:17:

“I see him, but not now; I behold him, but not near. A star will come out of Jacob; a scepter will rise out of Israel.”

And also to Revelation 22:16:

“I, Jesus, have sent my angel to give you this testimony for the churches. I am the Root and the Offspring of David, and the bright Morning Star.”

Past, present and future. Christ has been, is and will be our bright Morning Star. What a precious thought as we enter this time of Christmas and remember that star twinkling over a small baby, announcing the brightest Star ever to arrive.

I pray the star of Jesus will rise in our hearts as these days lead us to celebrations (and sometimes conflict) with family and friends. May his presence in our hearts shine brightly!

Praying and believing,
Dineen
