He Keeps Me Honest!

There are times in my life and I begin to think I might be “all that”. My pride surges and I can be quite full of myself. It never fails when I start down the prideful road, God will rise up in front of me to keep me in check.

Often God uses my nonbelieving husband to bring me back to reality. I love that quality about him and hate it at the same time. However, I know that my husband sees me as I really am. He will point out times when I become judgmental or self-righteous.

He keeps me honest. He asks the hard questions and reveals my hidden pride. I am thankful for this man who keeps me honest. How does your spouse keep you honest?

    In pretty much the same way yours does. Specially being a step mom I can be a bit too sensitive about stuff – and he points it out to me.
    It’s sometimes not very nice to hear, but it helps me.

    Mine does the same thing and he’s a believer but not as…strident as I am, I guess. Interesting to think about.

    Whenever I am speaking pridefully or all-knowingly, my DH gets a somewhat overwhelmed look on his face and I realize I’m no longer part of a two-way conversation. It stabs deep. He’s a wonderful man to share with and it’s awful when I trample that. I am very blessed.

    I love when you ask questions that make me think! Jason keeps me very honest. He also is my “self-righteous” thermometer and lets me know when I’m over the top. He also will sit and listen when I just need to vent and cry, which is probably once or twice a month. He listens, but won’t put up with my crap if I aim it at him!! Thanks for your post.

    My husband gets a certain look, then grows quiet, and if I don’t finally figure out that I’ve gone “over the top”…he speaks the truth in love to let me know. I usually hate it AND love it when he does that. But he balances me and lets me know when he thinks I’m over-reacting, too.

    Shamus is pretty straight forward but occasionally will ge tthat look (when I am overemotional) and I KNOW. BTW, I just told him I joined the group and explained why. He was all for it, in fct thrilled, once he understood that I was talking about the change and not about now. 🙂 What a wonderful guy.
