This week I want to give thanks to God for his wisdom in creating men and women, masculine and feminine.

Several months ago my friend Karen emailed me the day following a great discussion about my favorite topic, marriage. We were discussing what constitutes a healthy and balanced marriage. We determined marriage is rarely fair but a great marriage is balanced.

The next day she emailed this conclusion to me. Wonderful words and I share them with you now.

……When it comes to male-female relationships we are not equal….maybe a better word would be we are not the “same”. I don’t think God ever intended us to be equal. He made us as “partners” with separate skill sets unique to our sex and to the jobs He put us here to perform. I cherish my female skill set and would never want any man to be equal to me! Oh, I do go on……

Lord, thank you that I am feminine and uniquely made. Amen

    My favorite quote on masculine and feminine is that “men are like coffee mugs and women like china tea cups”– men are designed for the heavy duty stuff and women are more fragile like the tea cup–which is very strong and chips less easily than the mug but is also more delicate and fragile and designed for different things.

    Great post! It seems that we give up so much when we struggle for equality…we miss out on the joys of being exactly who we have been created to be! I am old enough to have experienced the upstart of the feminist movement…and have always felt like an outsider…dare I say, even a betrayer of my gender when I disagreed with its philosophy. I learned when my oldest chilren were younger…that no matter how I tried to make them the same….they were uniquely different. I bought both my daughter and my son dolls and trucks. My daughter made a sweet crib in the back of the truck and lovingly laid her dollies in it. My son took the trucks and ran the dollies over! Hmmmmm! Yes, uniquely different no matter how the environment tried to offer sameness!

    Indeed, each one -the male and the female- is unique. The needs and wants of one is entirely different from the other. Oh, maybe not entirely but it’s really different. And God has His good reasons for that. And I’m thankful about that because that makes -should make- every partner a complement to the other. like in times when one is weak, the other one lifts and strengthens the partner.
    Thus, we call a partner one’s better half.

    nice post girl…..marriage is what god’s gift to us man and woman, i believe opposite attracts but you have to nurture it with love that makes the differences blend….that make us to keep on working to be a successful unity. thanks for dropping by.

    I couldn’t disagree more vehemently and find some of the comments posted here extremely frightening.
    I won’t bother explaining further because, based upon those comments already posted, I am clearly in the minority here and I don’t wish to turn this into a big debate.
    You are entitled to your viewpoints and I am entitled to mine & that is what I feel most thankful for as I read your words. We don’t have to agree on this. But we are still united on the most important principles of Christianity.
