Photo 3 I’m in Florida at the moment visiting with our extended families. When I fell in love with my husband, I also fell in love with his family. He has a big one too! I love being around them and hearing all their stories of growing up. Lots of chuckles and memories.

On Father’s Day I loved seeing my husband and his youngest brother team up to help their dad with a project that would have monopolized a lot of this hard-working man’s time. Their unity and closeness have always inspired me.

As you can see by the picture, they are hard at work making a repair on the back porch. That front mostly gray head belongs to my sweet guy who gave his Father’s Day time to serve his dad.

I just love that. I love that I can see such positive and giving qualities in my husband and I make a point of letting him know how much I appreciate and admire those qualities.

So this week I’d like to challenge you to praise your husband for one thing-even it’s small-and thank him for that quality. Do this once a day (more if you’re motivated!) and watch what happens.

And if you’re willing, come back and share with us what happened. I know I love seeing my husband’s smile flash and his shoulders go up just a tad. Those opportunities to affirm them are priceless!

    Same here, Silvana! Draws us closer too. And I find my hubby becomes more intentional in his caring for me. And to know we’re serving God when we serve our hubbies this way is such a blessing too. 🙂

    Ya know, you ladies always seem to post the right thing at the right time – God-incidence perhaps???
    My son got sick enough that I had to take him to Patient First late Sunday night. My daughter had to go with us as DH was at work. My son had to have blood drawn and didn’t handle it too well. My daughter watched this with tears in her eyes. Then we had to go get a prescription filled and he ended up throwing up all over one of the aisles. My daughter saw this and retreated – didn’t even want to sit in the back seat with him. I knew she was upset by all of this but I had no idea how much it effected her. Until Monday… She refused to eat; all day. She was mopey and lethargic. The most explanation I could get from her was that she hated all the pain and suffering in the world and she wanted to go back in time and tell Adam and Eve not to eat the apple. I couldn’t convince her to eat or drink all day. Yesterday, she still wouldn’t eat. At one point, she wouldn’t leave my side. She finally told me that the reason she wouldn’t eat was because she was afraid that she was going to throw up like her brother did. In her young mind, if she never put anything in, nothing would ever come out.
    Well, back to the connection with this timely post… DH admittedly was reduced to bribery at this point and told her he would bring home whatever she wanted to eat, even if it was ice cream. She told him she wanted him to get subs (because her brother likes them) but not to bring anything for her. He did bring her a sub anyway and between the two of us, we got her to eat about a third of it. He was very patient with her and relatively calm. I know he was frustrated, but he also seemed to know that anger and fear wouldn’t convince her to eat. I think it’s the best way he’s handled a situation in a long time. Since he won’t be home until really late tonight, I think I’ll have to go text him about it. Thanks Dineen!

    I confess–I don’t compliment him enough. Even the neigbors have beat me to it as they watched him crawl around on his knees pulling every little weed out of the yard- – -something I had taken for granted. Thanks for the reminder, Dineen.

    Aww, poor thing! I hope both you’re little ones are doing better. It’s amazing how their brains take things in and translate them. That’s so wonderful to hear about your hubby and what a great opportunity to affirm him! I believe men are (can be) at their best as fathers. There’s just something about it that brings something special out in them at times. You go, girl!:-)
