Part the Jordan River, Part III

Good Monday Morning Sumites.

This is going to be a fantastic week. And I think we are
going to discover what can happen in an ordinary believer’s life when we take a
step of faith and then step out in trust. Ahhhhh, hold on because this gets
really, really good.

happened to the people who were stuck on one side of the river with no way to
get across to the Promised Land. Read with me.

Joshua 3:14 So when the people broke camp to cross the Jordan,
the priests carrying the ark of the covenant went ahead of them. 15 Now the
Jordan is at flood stage all during harvest. Yet as soon as the priests who
carried the ark reached the Jordan and their feet touched the water’s edge, 16
the water from upstream stopped flowing. It piled up in a heap a great distance
away, at a town called Adam in the vicinity of Zarethan, while the water
flowing down to the Sea of the Arabah (that is, the Dead Sea) was completely
cut off. So the people crossed over opposite Jericho. 17 The priests who
carried the ark of the covenant of the Lord stopped in the middle of the Jordan
and stood on dry ground, while all Israel passed by until the whole nation had
completed the crossing on dry ground.

 

I’m not a Biblical scholar however I have some
interesting perspective and first-hand experience in watching faith activated.
I’ve become convinced that somehow our freewill is tied up in all of this but
how that plays out individually is a mystery to me. But I can say with certainty
there are absolutely many times where God is anxiously waiting for us to say yes
to Him. He wants to bring healing and hope and real miracles but we must take
the step of faith. We activate our faith birthing trust and we step out into
many times situations that seem impossible and can be frightening. And what I
think happens most of the time is God calls us to step out in faith and we fear
judgment of “man” and we stay sidelined because we assume we will look like
fools to those watching.

So I have a question for our community today. Think about
your life right now. Do you think God is waiting for you to exercise your
freewill and to step out in a moment of faith to be part of what He is doing on
planet earth?

I want you to pray sincerely about this all week. Ask God to
place a burden upon you so heavily that you can’t escape it if there is some
action He is calling you to take in your faith walk. Tell me about it in the
comments. Be real so we can pray with you and can pray for one another.

My next post will be about how Jesus taught us to take a step
of trust and how He modeled it for us here on earth. Good stuff ahead. We are
planting the seeds now because the harvest is around the corner… Remember you
are the harvesters and our God wants our participation in His purposes.

    The house we’ve been renting the past five years has been sold amidst a tumultuous legal mess (we got caught in the crossfire between two “warring” parties) and we need to move soon.It’s been an incredbily painful process so far, but I am aware that God has been doing a lot of work in us in the process and also ignited in myself a passion for people facing the uncertainty of losing the roof over their heads, with all the implications that has for one’s life on so many levels. I believe God will provide for us but we do need a miracle: rentals and property prices have escalated to such an extent in our area that whatever seems to suit our needs is way beyond our budget. Please pray with us for discernment to recognize His voice when He leads and to take the necessary steps He wants us to take. And also to remain deeply rooted in Him, resting in quietness and trust. I find the current study so encouraging: God’s timing is, as usual, simply amazing 🙂 Thanks!

    For a month or so, I have been moved over how much the staff at my church give of
    themselves. There have been times they have met with me to discuss my marriage situation.
    They pray for me and my family. They give wise council. So the thought hit me, I am just one person. How many more burdened souls do they hear from on a daily basis? How often do they hear of problems and trails that must, at times, sadden them.
    Because of that, I have felt a desire to somehow minister to them. But I have no idea how God would have me move forward in this area. At first it was just a thought I pondered about, but now I am praying to see if God would have me step out in faith to see where/how I can encourage them. Please pray with me that I will know His desires in this area.

    Sweet Lord we know You are our Provider and we keep our eyes on You as You bring exactly to each person what is needed. I just ask You to be close to Marguerite and her family now as they wonder where to go next. Lead the way Lord and let it be so obviously clear that they will not doubt it is You. Give them one of those jaw dropping moments that You are so eminent for. I know I ask for those often because I’m a little think but they are so much fun to testify about to which the Glory goes to You to SHINE and give hope to others! Thank Jesus and Amen!

    God in heaven I am praying for Jenny that she will know in this day exactly what it is You would desire for her to act on to help minister to the very people who minister to her. You have placed this burden on her heart and she has recognized it. Now all she needs is the answer on how to go about doing Your work. Don’t let her miss the perfect plan You have for her. Let her be able to start today God using her abilities and gifts You have blessed her with to strengthen and encourage others as she has been by You through them. In Your powerful name we pray as we are acknowledging this Harvest season You have us in God. Amen.

    Oh lord you are are provider and I know you will meet Marguerite’s needs for her and her family. You know what they need and you already have a place which you will provided for them. I just pray she will continue to trust you and lay it all down on you because, you are more the able and capable of providing for her needs. When they see that provisions it will be known it can only come from you! And, give you the thanks and praise right now for your love and taking care of your special daughter and her family in Jesu name we pray Amen! Xo in my prayers pat

    For the past couple of years, God has defeated divorce in my marriage twice, and tomorrow looms a court date in which anything could happen. Since my husband filed for the third time, God has opened a path for me to accept a job in another state. I prayed for open doors and closed doors, and God continues to open doors to that path…making the transition easier than I ever imagined. While I continue to pray daily for my husband’s salvation, repentence and deliverance…and for restoration of our marriage, I am stepping each day on the path God has laid out before me, trusting that even though I don’t know why He is taking me away that He is working it all out for my good. I saw my husband yesterday in our very small town. It was obvious he had been to church and was eating lunch alone in a restaurant. We didn’t speak, but my heart just aches for him. Despite the circumstances and all that has happened in the past, God has given me such a deep and abiding love for him. I mourned the loss of him all day while I packed for the move. Then a friend reminded me yesterday afternoon that no matter what, she believes that God is still working on my husband, and it’s always possible that no matter how it looks, there can be victory and our lives together may not be over. I hold onto the hope that God’s promise to restore and redeem will rule each and every day, regardless of what happens. I pray my faith and trust to believe beyond what is seen, knowing that all things are working together for our good, will remain. Thank you, and please pray for us this week. Court is tomorrow afternoon, and moving day is Friday. I love you all, and pray for you each day!

    Father, I come in the name above all names, the name of Jesus. Thank you that you are opening doors to move Jody forward. I pray that you would be with her tomorrow in court, that your Presence would be in that courtroom, and that no matter what happens, Jody will have peace. All things are possible with you Lord, and we know you can still make a way for this marriage to be restored. Whatever happens Lord, please lead and guide Jody in her next steps. Prosper her in her new job, bless her with new friendships. Help her on Friday with her move, that it would go smoothly and easily, we know moving can be stressful. I ask you move in her husband’s heart, even tomorrow, flood him with light and clarity and show him redemption is possible! In his life, and in his marriage! Turn him away from the worldly influences and back towards you and Jody, Lord. Thank you for all you have done in Jody’s life, and all you will continue to do. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

    I’ve been called for sometime now to take a leap of faith and hand my marriage over to God so he can heal it. I haven’t been able to give up control and hand it over and it’s become increasingly obvious that there’s nothing I can do. Only the good Lord can fix what is broken and the sooner I take that jump, the sooner he can step in. It’s so hard to stop controlling the situation and truly surrender it. Your topic of trust could not have come at a better time. It is truly time for me to step out in trust.

    Hi Ladies, I do hope you are all well. I haven’t been on here for a few days, I will explain why. 1 week ago Friday, my husband and I had an encounter so to speak, he said that nothing he does will ever be good enough for me, then I told him. I NEED A CHRISTIAN HUSBAND! I NEED HIM TO BE HUMBLE ENOUGH TO PRAY WITH ME, GO TO CHURCH WITH ME, READ THE BIBLE!!! He didn’t like hearing that, needless to say, I ended up storming out of the house, crying, and drove to the lake to contemplate and talk to God. While pouring my heart out to God, once again, all I could hear him speak was “give him the 30 challenge”. The 30 day challenge is listening to nothing but Christian music for 30 days anytime you listen to the radio. So when I came back, I challenged him, and he accepted. I also challenged myself to a fast. So the next day after I issued this challenge to him, he told me while he was away for training, he was outside and another man there for training (he has never met this man), came up to him and said “Kevin, the Lord has more for you.”, I was like YES YES YES! Thank you JESUS for putting someone else in his path besides me!!! So then Monday and Tuesday come, and he is doing his challenge, calls me to tell me this pastor on the radio was talking about anger, and how we each deal with it. He said he was understanding himself a bit more. PRAISE THE LORD! The reast of the week he was on vacation, and although I have my Christian music blaring throughout the house all day everyday, I don’t think it resonated the way it does while he is alone, which is fine. For me though, Mon,tues, and wed, I did my fast of breakfast and lunch, only ate dinner with my family, I prayed constantly for some type of breakthrough. Thursday came, and I was frustrated, and I kept hearing the Lord say to end my fast. I would reply back “WHY? If i’m going to end it can he at least invite me to lunch or something, and he’s home Lord, he can’t even make the bed?” Oh my…..as soon as I said, o.k. Lord I will end my fast, lol, my husband invited me to lunch :), after lunch, I went upstairs to our bedroom, and the bed was made!!! All I could do was laugh, a holy laugh, that the Lord was so right there, in the midst of us, the entire time. I took a step of faith in issuing that challenge to my husband, and issuing my own challenge of a fast, the Lord God showed me, once again, how faithful he is, how his promises are true, and if we just stay faithful, he will see the trees bare fruit. I also prayed mightily for my father is going through so much right now, he has finally started attending a local church, and yesterday he agreed with me that the Lord is calling him to repentance. He is fighting it right now, I think he may think the Lord won’t love him anymore, I just need to get through to him that the Lord already loves him in spite of his sins. Our Holy Father is working my fellow SUMites. So wonderful, SOOOO powerful. Stay strong and keep the faith, God’s promises are so true.

    Be still and know and you’ll hear His direction. All that baking in the kitchen I mentioned on a previous post was a direction God wanted me to take in my latest efforts to reconnect with my sister. Sometimes you don’t even have to try hard to figure out what it is God wants you to do. He will just plant a seed in you to move, and move you will, whether you like it or not! Trust me. I’m not a kitchen person and I moved, not liking it but He changed my attitude and I didn’t mind it at all!? I will pray now that you will be able to discern His desires Lynette.

    I too had thoughts similar to what your friend was thinking Jody. God we know You are still at work with Jody’s husband and their marriage together. You have reasons none of us can comprehend but we are praying together here with You amongst us for strength and confidence in our fellow Sumite as she walks this path in life now and we trust You to reveal Your plan for Lynette and her husband at the perfect timing that You always have for each and everyone of Your children. You are a good God and we wait on You patiently and expectantly. Amen.

    Amen Dawn. Trust and believe He is at work. It’s hard to be patient sometimes and it’s hard to be the best example that we should be also when we’re tested. I catch myself sometimes thinking…WHOA…this is NOT how Jesus would act! I go to the washroom now for reprieve. 😉

    I would like to add that I am a bold and blunt person. The Lord made me this way for a reason. Sometimes it is good, but as you can imagine, sometimes not so good! I am really working on being as “gentle as a dove”. I grew up in the inner city, so I always had to walk around with a chip on my shoulder to guard myself. It is really a hard habit to break, I am most certainly rough around the edges, but I am working on it! lol

And it is really in the small gently ways that he moves when we are truly in AWW of his awesomeness and majesty. Oh, I love Our Lord Jesus!!!!!!!!!

    I feel for you, Jody. My husband and I have been separated for 9 months and he is ready to give up on everything we have built over the last 11 years including 2 kids. It’s funny to hear you say that God has given you a deep abiding love for him because I feel the same way. I have completely forgiven him too for things that are not easily forgivable. I pray that God works a miracle in your marriage. Good luck on your new ventures.

    Maggie, WOW, that’s pretty awesome. Sometimes God puts these things on our hearts and we think, ‘ that’s crazy!’ and he would NWEVER…. hahaha. I don’t feel God calling me to challenge my husband the same way, I don’t know the back story but I’m guessing your husband has some interest in faith? Might not be a bad challenge for my friend though.. anyway, Praising the Lord and His Power and Faithfulness right along with you, woo hoo! 🙂

    I think the Lord works in ways that would most affect us, hit us where it hurts so to speak, to get our attention. I kow how much my husband loves music (and of course God knows), and he drives half the day so his radio is always on, perfect scenario for this challenge! Something special for each of us, because each of us are special 🙂

    Yes, Gillian, he has interest in faith, but falls back under “all faiths are of the same god”. Nothing will irritate me more I tell ya! And when I point out what Jesus did for us, that no other “religion” has done, he either contemplates, or he gets angry and walks away. Like I said, I can be abrasive, and I really need to get that under control, Lord knows I am trying, with his strength, patience, love and everything else! I told him about my fast, and what happened, he was quite amazed as well. Each day is a new day, some of those days we may take a step or 2 backward, but God’s promises are new each day. And we know he keeps his promises!

    O Maggie! You sound like you could be my twin! If only my husband would try the challenge. He has no idea of how the Christian stations can change the atmosphere and refuses to believe it is a very real FACT that there’s power in this music! I too pray for “back up!” I need others in his life talking about faith besides just me alone! When he comes home on the weekends from working in the city I can literally feel a change in the atmosphere walking in with him. p.s. He came to church with me Sunday because I TOLD HIM HE HAD TO for our mission team was sharing our experiences and showing a slide show. He sat through the service with not a single expression. Oh my word…it was like watching someone digging in their heels and refusing to FEEL, absorb or contemplate ANYTHING! Totally closed mind. I prayed something would “strike” him in the sermon but all he had to say afterwards was…”He likes to hear himself talk, doesn’t he!?” God help me! Sorry…I didn’t mean to go on like this but I also feel convicted not to delete this? I LOVED reading your post. GOD SHOWED YOU!!! didn’t He!? heh heh “wink”

    God provides as you know !! We encured a debt. a while back and had to pay $111 a week this a lot to me but praise God the debt is paid off !! God provided overtime for my husband at a usually slow time as the factory he works for makes windows and doors.

    I want to ask for your help in prayer! I have been struggling to let go of my marriage, my husband, and my will to The Lord. I have stopped my fellowships on Monday and Friday, with the pretense that I am working on my marriage. At least that’s what I try and tell myself. I know in my heart, that the reason I am staying home, is to be available for my husband. That way he will not go out and “look” for another “diversion”. He has been going out a lot lately, but it has been to train. He is very athletic and is now DEVOTED to cycling and martial arts. So, when he goes off to train, I sometimes stay home, just in case he wants me to come along.
    This is not helping me at all. I feel I am starting to make him my god again and I cannot do that to myself or My God.
    And I know that I need to completely trust God.
    Today, I am standing firm and I will go to my bible study! I ask for your help in praying that I can completely trust my marriage to God. It’s like I can’t trust The Lord to take care of me!! When I KNOW he has protected me MANY times before. I have to let go of my husband and let God.
    Along with praying for my submission, I’d like prayer for discernment and boundaries with how much time to dedicate to bible studies and being the wife my husband needs.

    Awesome i was listening to our area christian radio station 91.7 out of champaign il and they spoke of the focus on the family broadcast which i went to the web site focusonthefamily/radio to listen to today’s broadcast which was about mismatched marriage very good !! the fellow speaking was an aithest and later she became a christian tomarrow she will speak (tues 4-23-13)I encourage everyone here to listen

    I can somewhat relate though i am in no way a councelor but can only remember when my husband was into softball a lot i wish now i had took the kids and i to watch him and support him . To “get in his world” i heard from a very good councelor though Might be good to with him to train??

    There is so much going on in the SUMite community!
    I have been trying to step out in faith by using my office skills for evangelization or edification. I create instructional material at work, mostly technical stuff for Information Technology. I do a lot of online courses. I believe those skills should transfer. I’ve been trying to figure out HOW exactly.
    My most recent idea is to create very small videos and tutorials that other Christian bloggers or websites could incorporate into their message. Mine could be a support role / free resource. Here is an example of a video. http://youtu.be/dp7rR2AJqZE
    This would require a marketing plan (and determining whether there is a need for this type resource). I already have the software I need. I am investigating a technical plan and business plan. A Christian co-worker can help me with a website. There is a lot to sort through. For now, I am working to build up an inventory of videos and tutorials.

    I think I lost my post. Let’s try again.
    It is exciting to read what all is going on within the SUMmite community. There is lots of love for the Lord here.
    My step of faith is to use my office skills for evangelization or edification. At work, I create training – mostly technical topics and mostly online courses. While the subject area and treatment is different the skills should transfer.
    My most recent idea is to create short videos and tutorials based on scripture that others could use in their Christian blogs. Mine would be a support role to provide resources that might complement their message.
    This idea requires research – to determine whether this is a need, to identify technical options, to build a “business” plan. I already have the software license. Much to ponder. For now, I plan to build up an inventory of videos and tutorials.

    Carmen, I can understand how you feel. Lord I pray that you will bring a peace and an ease into Carmen’s heart. Which you can be trusted, and knowing you love her husband and marriage more then she does. Because, you are the creator of all things therefore Lord you know far more then we do what will bring a person to their knees. You hung on that cross and paid the ultimate price so we can be free from fear. Because, perfect love cast out fear. I pray that you will impart on Carmen and all,of us the revelation knowledge of your perfect love. Because In your word you say oh Lord that you do not give us the spirit of fear but of power, love and a sound mind. So when we feel that fear it is not from you it is of the enemy. So,help us all walk in your perfect love. In Jesus name I pray Amen.

    I loved reading all the comments and seeing each women step up and pray for each other. Ladies, God has such many blessings for you as you trust and surrender just as Lynn and Dineen have said. I have prayed for each one of you.
    This is so neat because I have not been on for a week or two because of the craziness in my life. God has asked me to trust and surrender all to him. My husband quit his job and is opening his own business. It is scary because we have 3 kids of our own and we have taken in 2 teenagers whose parents are in prison. Now we have my 80 year old parents are living with us as well as a 17, 16, 14, 13 and 12 year old kids in our home. You can see why I would be a little anxious with my husband starting his own business.
    But, I do know how deep and wide God’s love is for us. I am trusting and looking forward to see the miracles he does in our home.

    Jennifer. For some reason I thought of the Walton’s in reading your post. Full house, trials, good hearts, faith…trust and believe. Perfect timing for God to bring you back to this community. I for one will be anxious to hear how God moves in your life. Just know you have warriors here praying for you and therefore power enters your life.
    We surrender all Lord so You can work in and through us and we desire only to be able to give You all the glory as we excitedly share Your works in our lives with others who need Your light in their’s. Amen.

    I am praying for God to burden my heart to know how/where he wants me to move next, which direction my Jordan is in…sometimes there seems to be so many directions to go, I’m not sure which way he’d like me to go first.

    My church doesn’t have an outreach ministy. We do collect clothes for the needy and have a food bank, but not a group that goes out into the community to feed and minister to the community. When I first got saved, I participted in several community outreaches and the Lord has given me a heart for this work. Recently, I have felt this is something that I realy want to be involved in, and that I need to be more proactive in bringing this up to the leaders in my church. I was very excited on Sunday when our pastor shared that more community outreaches are on our agenda, and I belive that God is preparing me and my church to do some amazing work for His kingdom. My struggle is that it will mean a time commitment for me, and I don’t think my husband will understand. I am already active in music ministry, and while he is tolerant of me going to rehearsal, I am afraid he will not be happy if I am at church for more time. I want to live in God’s will and explore the path He is opening up for me, but I dread the stress this might cause at home. I’m waiting patiently on the Lord to see what will happen, please pray that if this opportunity to minister opens up, that I will know what to do.

    I echo what Jen has said. I’m inspired by all the prayers toward each other and encouraged to press forward. I am currently in the middle of a job search that will hopefully allow for a better work/life balance, but will likely cut my salary in half. I’m asking God for direction in this and in my husbands salvation because I just simply don’t know where to go from here. I don’t want my changing jobs to hinder or add additional stressors to my relationship. I’m trying so hard to be the kind, patient and carefree person my husband expects me to be as a Christian, but its been difficult at times to stay composed. I NEED to hear from my Father!
    Lord, my simple prayer just asks that you give us the faith to step forward into our Jordan so that we can see Your victories that You have promised us. Let us be compliant to You and let us not fear and hold back. Give us all Your direction as Your plan is GREATER than ours! Your humble servants always…

    Oh, Sumites, I love you so very much. I am in awe of the courage and faithfulness you show as you walk some very difficult paths. I am humbled to be on this path with you. To those whom God has revealed himself regarding your next step of faith, I lift you up to our Abba Father for strength and favor and I celebrate the adventure He has in store for you. I know He has an exciting plan for me, also. But, like some of you, I don’t have a clue what it is. In the last few years He has opened amazing doors for service that I could never have imagined and through those opportunities He has blessed me beyond reason. He has allowed me to serve precious children in Mexico, beautiful homeless people in my community and awesome dads and children in maximum security prisons. I am taking the challenge to diligently pray this week for a clear word on where my next step of faith should be. I am praying that God will give me a supernatural revelation of any area of my life where He is waiting for me to take a step of faith. Sometimes I think I am a little thick headed and get overwhelmed by so many thoughts of “good things” I could do. Jesus, overwhelm me with a burden for the area You want me to pursue.
    I loved the water analogy someone used earlier this week. I am ready to stop splashing around in the shallow baby pool of faith. I want to have BIG FAITH to dive off into the deep end into the BIG LOVE of Jesus. Please, Lord hold my hand as I take that first step onto the board. I am ready. I am willing.

    Pat, it’s all I got left. I tried for SO many years on my own, well we all know how that works out! Quite a few years ago I read a book titled “The Power of a Praying Wife”. That is what started me on the journey to help bring my hubbie to salvation. It has been about 10 years now. Some days I feel like there is progress, and others I feel back at square 1. I have just recently learned how to listen for God’s voice. Sure is nice that I don’t have to do it all on my own!

    Dineen, and all of you other ladies, question. Have your husbands ever told you they feel “weird” about submitting to another man? Or that it’s (excuse my language please) feels kind of “gayish”? Well my husband has said this a few times. So I am wondering if we could challenge ourselves, to bring about the “manly” side of Jesus, and show our husbands what a great role model of manliness Jesus was and is. Can we search Scripture and find the manly parts of what Jesus spoke and did, that may make our hubbies view him in a different light? What do you all think?

    Maggie alot of men feel this way, actually I think deep down they know that isn’t the truth but they would feel way more comfortable if they weren’t so worried about what other men might think of them. To me a man of faith is a real man because he is strong enough and secure enough that he doesn’t’t give a damn(excuse the french) what others think. I wonder if there is a way if as sisters here we could find a way to make them understand this?

    I have been struggling with the issue of quitting my job lately. I am always praying for God to remove distraction when I worship (bible study, praying etc) keep in mind I’ve always been a bit of a day dreamer, hmmm I think they call it A.D.D these days. I have come to believe it is my job that always gets in my mind and when I am worshiping it is the main source of my distraction. I have had some situations besides the distractions that is leading me to believe that God may think its best for me to retire from this job. One, anytime I have to go out to visit customers I’m having panic issues that have complicated or made my health worsen. Not long ago I was removed from the plane returning home by ambulance because I had passed out I spent 3 days in the hospital. Now my job wants me to revisit a part of my job for the 3rd time, that I thought was over. I just don’t think I can do it again. I just don’t want my decision to be based on a selfish one. I would appreciate any honest opinions, be brutally honest I can take it.

    I forgot one other thing that has bothered me. I have a buddy from the “best buddy” program named Rosie. Best buddies is an organization that matches you with a mentally challenged individual so they can have that companionship that we all desire and deserve. I feel my job and my associated anxiety has kept me from doing with her as much as I should.

    So much to think about. I think there is a small part in me (probably God) that is nudging me to “step out.” I’ve just been “managing” my marriage…stepping on eggshells, not bringing up anything bout Christisanity. My Husband always has a smart remark or says something that I just don’t know how to respond too. I’m afraid my timidity about what I believe effects my 11 yr old daughter too. I soo want her to know who she is in Christ and be firming rooted. Is there anybody out there whose husband is a “new-ager?” …that’s the best way I can describe him. Anyone have any advice? I figure it would take a miracle for him to accept Christ and all I can do is pray.

    As I read posts by other Summites, I am moved and more in love with ya’ all.
    My step of faith has to do with figuring out how to use the skills I use at work for the Lord’s work. I am making some scripture based videos and tutorials and trying to find a use for them.

    I can’t advise on the job. But the dreamer part of you may be a very good quality. Joseph and King David were dreamers. How can you tap into that natural creativity to assess your work challenge? When praying, use your creativity to picture what you are praying about. Maybe give that dream a little bit of a leash to see if it reveals things you should be praying about.

    I know what you mean about having lots of ideas. Have you ever hear of the Myers Briggs assessment? Mine is ENTP – P is for Perceiver. It means that my brain tends to think of a lot of ideas… all at once. It is a blessing and a curse. I can solve problems others find challenging because I can see ways around, but then can’t decide where to go to lunch… there are too many options. I’m the same with going in a lot of directions with service projects… sewing and knitting for Children’s hospital, gardening for the homeless shelter, church treasurer… In my head, I work faster than I do in real life. 🙂 I keep some of these projects around as an outlet. I am also read to pick a “core” service focus.

    You have a good heart. A lesson I am trying to learn is to say “no” to something when I need to say “yes” to something else. You might have to pick where you serve to have balance in your life and honor your husband’s need to be with you too. Just a thought.

    Amen! I completely get where your coming from Juliane. I believe I would be a greater value to God and my family if I didn’t have to worry about my job. But I too worry about the stressors on my marriage. Financially we would surrive, and my husband would probably be ok if I said I wanted to quit, but I just worry about resentment down the road. Sometimes I think I worry more about the what ifs with the hubby instead of trusting in God and taking that leap.
    Heavenly father may we have some clarity on these struggles that are holding us back, we so want to understand the direction in which you are directing us, please give us your purpose in a complete and obvious way that we may know your will with no confusion that it is your will, we are so eager and hungry to make the big leap, the life changing leap you are waiting patiently for us to take. In Jesus name I pray amen.

    So I want to first off thank God for allowing me to find this website that has been a hUGE blessing to my life and my marriage and it couldn’t have come at a more perfect time!!! My husband and I were about to be 4 yrs married and were talking about separation and then when he came out with all these hidden secrets …I was devastated and we talked divorce!! I had no Idea who he was!! I prayed and cried out to God!! For my restoration and for a transformation in him!! Give me the words to say help me be the wife he needs!! Teach me to forgive ugh most horrible moment ever!! I was so broken 🙁 it’s only been about 4 months since I found out everything… And God has been faithful!!! I could cry !! I’m so humbled , my husband and I have been praying everyday together and have fasted every Sunday for 3months!! He really is faithful to his word!! He is molding us into who we are supposed to be in Jesus name!! I believe it!! Now we talk about helping our young people from church as a couple! And he out of nowhere wants to sing with me on the praise team and if you knew him or saw him… You would not even think he would want to!! That’s all God there!!! And I would love the courage to not only sing solos or be a part of our singing praise team but I want to be used to minister as I lead worship and along the way encourage and uplift my husband in whatever he wants to do!!! I know how hard it is to be a young man of GOd in these times!! I thank JEsus everyday because I believe he will Transform completely my husband into the man of God he was created to be!!! It’s already happening and I PRAISE you Jesus for it!!! Have your way in our lives in the holy name of Jesus

    Thank you, Teresa, for your insight. It is dificult to know when to say “yes” to God, or “yes” to my husband. I want to be obedient to God and live a Spirit led life, but that often conflicts with benig obedient to my husband as well. I am talking about opportunities to serve or fellowship,I would never do something for my husband that went against God’s word.

    my husband used to be the same way. Then one day, I just had it. I told him, if that’s how he feels, that’s fine, but he can keep his comments to himself, I don’t need it. But that he should know, one day, he WILL stand before an Almighty Righteous God and have to give an account for his words. Whether he believes it or not. Since then, he has come closer to God. Stand firm in your faith, In Jesus and you will see mountains move. Don’t let the lies of the enemy distract you or disable you from standing firm in the Truth you KNOW exists. Praying for you, I KNOW how hard it is.

    Keep praying about what the Lord would have you do Gillian. Like I stated earlier, the Lord was something special in store for each of us. I am sure there is something else the Lord would like to use for your hubbie. I also challaneged my husband, that before he goes into work, to just hand it over to God to see how it goes. I said “what can it hurt?” He did, and God showed up for him. WHY…he isn’t a believer yet is beyond me, only God knows!

But I so agree, that a man of faith is a real man, not caring what others think. Oh how I long for that.     Not sure what you mean by New Ager, Do you mean it as ‘I am self sufficient, I am my own god (almost?)’ My husband is an atheist, and he’s all about the science and evolution if any discussion comes up. He refuses to see the bigger picture.

    Gillian, I believe it was Kent Hovine who gave a spectacular seminar on evolution v creation. Ask him if he would view it with you. You may be able to find it on youtube. Also, Ben Stein did a documentary on evolution v creation. Something worth looking into anyway.

    I’ve been thinking and praying on this all week and I think there are a few things.
    If there is any particular, step out in faith with Me call it is just to let go of the doubts I keep entertaining. It’s another big thing that steals my joy. I used to be an atheist until about 7 years ago and as a result this line of thinking runs so deep it is easy to fall prey when I don’t see the evidence/feel his presence RIGHT NOW. He’s just given me a way out of the long term chains of negativity and my need to be in control, and I think he’s calling me to step out of any nagging doubts as well.
    And also, more and more I am feeling a call on our family to move. We’ve been in our trailer 2 years and while I love it, we really are starting to run out of space, and this is looking like it will happen fairly soon, likely before the end of the summer, when I will be starting in on seriously homeschooling our oldest who will be school-age this September. There is a certain call to step out in faith because I love it here, I love my little trailer and my little yard and or little trailer park by a lake, not to mention how much I love my church and my parish community. I feel so at home and fulfilled, I really don’t want to move away from this area, but God may still call me too. I have come to have some peace with the idea, with the thought that I know we won’t be moving any great distance because of DH’s work, and that I could still be part of my community and help lead faith studies there etc… God can’t give us something better if we are holding on too tightly to something else, and honestly, if I could be part of two great church parish communities instead of just one, who am I to stand in the way of change? (But I would still be very sad to leave 😛 )

    Hi Ladies..such powerful and encouraging stories, hearing how God is stirring hearts to serve Him and His people. He has been stirring something in me as well. I am one of many women in our church community that is married to an unbeliever..going to church alone and a lot of times, sitting alone with no other family or friends near by. It can be so hard and painful but I am always reminded what Jesus went through, the pain and persecution He endured while He was on earth..and it makes my situation pretty easy to deal with.
    I believe The Lord is leading me into some kind of ministry to bless and bring together other women that are married to unbelievers. Not sure how it will look..or even how to begin. Ideas and prayers for our church community (Neighborhood Church in Chico California) would be so appreciated! Thank you all..God Bless.
