Living Our Divine Destiny

18207172_sBack in October I shared a story about one of the divine appointments I had at the writers conference I attended. My new friend, Jacqueline’s words of wisdom seemed to peek some interest and Ian even suggested another post to explain. Great idea, Ian! Thank you!

And what was that wisdom?

"Don't live the life you think you are supposed to but live the life God is leading you to.”

I think this is one of those words of wisdom that can mean different things to each of us, depending upon our experiences and situation. So, I will unpack a bit what this has meant to me. I know it helps me to learn and apply things like this by example so here goes.

Jacqueline’s sage advice helped me see how I’d pursued certain aspects of my faith walk and life based upon what I saw others doing and my own expectations. There’s nothing wrong with learning from and being inspired by those around us-that’s a benefit of being part of a community. The danger is when it runs into comparison.

I assumed my “results” would or should be the same, but when they weren’t, I assumed I’d somehow messed up or failed. Or even worse, that God didn’t truly love me and withheld His goodness and gifts from me.

Yes, all lies that the enemy had craftily shot into my soul. And sometimes God has to shake us up to unearth those embedded lies to expose and dig them out. Not fun, but so very necessary if we are to walk in the fullness of the freedom and inheritance we have in Christ-to live our diving destiny.

So what did my friend’s wisdom teach me?

First it affirmed that the path I’ve been on this year is the right one. I’m learning that even in the similarities of our gifts, we still function uniquely. If I try to use my spiritual gifts the same way another person uses theirs, I’m not operating as the person God created me to be. Therefor I am trying to live my life as I thought I was supposed to instead of how the Holy Spirit is leading me.

Does that make sense? I hope so. Because, as I said, we can find many ways to apply Jacqueline’s wisdom. I can even think of one from my past, when I was around 30 and my plan was to go back to art school to get my next degree. That is the life I had been pursuing, thinking that was the direction I need to go to use my talents.

In the midst of this, God caught my attention and showed me He had another plan in mind for me. I really and truly wanted to pursue college, but it was based upon what I thought I should be doing, which was also based upon very worldly expectations.

The direction He took me? Not at all what I expected and I have never regretted my choice of letting go of the art college plan to follow Him. He’s way more creative anyway. 😉

Amazingly, God’s plan for me didn’t mean I had to give up my art. He’s placed many artistic opportunities in my path, the latest one, designing book covers-a dream I held as a teenager and had forgotten about.

And I think part of this wisdom is being present, being alert and aware of what God is doing and communicating to us. I love this piece of wisdom from Proverbs:

Know the importance of the season you're in. – Proverbs 10:5 (Passion Translation)

Every season is important and part of God’s plan and direction for our lives, even the tough ones. And God has this amazing ability to take those difficult places and turn them into moments of beauty. How else could my youngest daughter walk through brain cancer and six years later have such sweet memories of the moments that were fun, comforting and full of love? And such a big heart to help others?

Sometimes moving forward with God means letting go of ourselves. Just. Let. Go. Perhaps that’s what Jesus meant when He said we must lose our lives in order to gain our real life in Him.

    Such good words Dineen. For me, it was a bit different, but the same idea. I was trying live out my walk the way other people thought I should, not just the way I thought I should. Which also leads to comparison, guilt, shame, not feeling good enough. The biblical principles we walk by are the same, but it can look different for each person. I am not sure what my divine destiny is right now, so I would love for you to pray.

    Thank you so much again for being willing to share your life with us and inspire us with your personal journey! Not sure about divine destiny but i believe God is leading me to facilitate a SUM group in my area. i am also feeling a strong pull to teaching which is totally out of my personality realm and brings up potential conflicts with “home” i have seen many changes in my PB’s heart already and i have faith God will resolve any of those conflicts if that is where He is truly leading me.

    It is interesting that you should talk about divine destiny. I would say the Lord is working on getting my attention on this. In the last week I have heart this in about 3 different ways. I made a detour in my life.. and have struggled would God continue to use me and even could He~ I know the answer is yes. I don’t know what my destiny is … I know God is preparing me for the destiny He has for me! Yes, pray for me!! I need wisdom!!

    One portion of my destiny is to be the spiritual mother/leader (is that a matriarch?) in this family. For awhile I thought remarrying my PB was something I orchestrated rather than God truly doing it but every day God reveals to me He is in FULL control and is restoring my family and their relationships to each other and are continually drawing them to HIMSELF.
    I too have thought I was moving towards the direction God wanted and ended up having to give it up. In 2010 right after my divorce I started going to school for Massage Therapy. Everyone said I was a natural and God paid for everything along the way by getting me grants and I maintained a 4.0 GPA. Everything was going great and then all of a sudden I was struck with severe pain in my hands, elbows, and shoulders. I spent a year going to doctor after doctor and eventually had shoulder surgery and had to make the very difficult process of giving up on that dream. Fortunately I LOVED the job I was doing (Paratransit – transporting elderly and disabled people) and after surgery returned to it. I thought I was totally healed only to tear up both shoulders and had the same shoulder operated on almost exactly a year later. No more pushing wheelchairs for me. When John and I got remarried in January and I moved back to IA in March I had to walk away from that position, BUT God restored my marriage is doing great things in our family and has provided for us in so many ways that are AMAZING throughout this last 4 years.
    I don’t know exactly what my destiny is EXCEPT to share my stories of how God has brought me through SO MANY situations. I eagerly take on this mission!

    Holy Spirit I ask for Your Divine guidance in Lynette’s days to unfold information and material before her eyes and ears that will NOT go unnoticed by her. I pray her senses are in tune to Your whispers so a passion ignites her very core to seek with a hunger the destiny You have in store for her Father. I pray this in Jesus name for Glory is what Lynette so greatly desires to experience with You. King Jesus, help her feel that crowning today as Your Princess. Amen.

    Heavenly Father I am asking for a download of Your wisdom throughout Angie’s days ahead of her. I pray her mind to be transformed so as to understand ALL You have for her to know. I pray Your Word comes alive in a fresh and revealing way as she has never experienced before and I ask Holy Spirit that You would join in on Angie’s conversations throughout her day so that she will experience confirmations for her destiny from the Open Heavens over us!     Father our sister Kathy is clearly realizing that You ARE calling her onward to know her destiny You have planned and so I come to You asking that her path and directions be made clear as if she were reading a map. Let wisdom be gifted to her in this day so she will clearly understand all You need for her to know as she desires to get on track and go forward into the battle to bring Your Kingdom to earth and reap a greater harvest in the days we have left. Spirit BE her compass from this day forward. For Your Glory and Honour I pray. Amen.

    Kathy, there is something significant falling into place for you, my friend, and I had the strongest impression that financial privision is coming in a big way. Keep following the pieces of the puzzle and the big picture will be revealed.
    Abba Father, I pray for your provision in all ways for Kathy. Thank you for preparing her for all that you are about to reveal and present to her. Give her wisdom and grace in abundance to step forward into all you have for her. In Christ’s holy name, amen.

    Heavenly Father we LOVE to hear Your daughter Merlene tell of Your works in her Stories that she so openly shares with us as inspiration, guidance, encouragement and healing. In the natural it would seem that the things she figured out to be her path always end up branching off in another direction? You have however blessed our sister with MANY VENUES to travel down bringing her many new faces to speak Your Name into their lives and portray Your character to them. Jesus, YOU have been right beside this wonderful lady leading and guiding her step by step to many You needed her to touch. I ask now that You would place her in her destiny so she can take root and grow like a tremendously STRONG HEALTHY tree to produce SO MUCH MORE FRUIT than she IS already! I thank You Heavenly Father that this prayer is already in motion and angels You have sent to clear the paths for Merlene’s destiny are already being PAVED WITH GOLD right now even as I still pray it.
    I have asked believing this in faith Lord Jesus just as You told us to.
    Matthew 21:22 ~ You can pray for anything, and if you have faith, you will receive it.
    Your Word is GOLD Father. THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU! AMEN! 😀
    We praise You Lord God. Let Your Kingdom come as You bring us into our destinies. Amen.

    Thank you, Dineen for the reminder that the Lord has a plan for my life and I just need to uncover it. This is something I struggle with daily. My husband decided to leave me and reject God 10 months ago so we’ve been separated for 8 months now. I’m fighting for my marriage daily through prayer. I’ve become weary and impatient wondering what God’s plan is for me during this in between season. I do what you shared – I compare my results to others. I appreciate the proverbs you shared. It reminds me that God is using this season to work out his plan for my life. I ask for your prayers for God to reveal his plan for me during this separation.

    I stand with Brenda Lord in asking for Your direction to be known even a little bit at a time each day so hope and faith grow stronger with each prayer she sends to Your Throne. In this season of waiting Lord Jesus I ask for doors to be opened for Brenda to walk through in confidence so that the enemy’s hold on her marriage is weakened daily. Lord I pray for ALL our SUM, that eyes will open, minds will be unblocked and transformed, hearts will turn to flesh, eyes and ears will operate in a Divine sense rather than an earthly manner. We pray Your Kingdom come so that MANY will “GET IT” and our Army of God will grow greater in number so we can stand IN the VICTORY strongly and not weary as our own personal battles appear to defeat us. Give us strength Lord, I lift Brenda up to You in prayer for a refreshed Spirit of Warrior fashion in this day and the days to follow. We BELIEVE our prayers are heard. We TRUST they are in motion. We RECEIVE Your Word as LIFE and Destiny as we continue to ASK, SEEK and KNOCK towards our Inheritance in You. I give You ALL the Glory, Praise and thanks Father God as we continue to walk by faith and NOT by sight. In Your mercy-filled Son’s Name, Jesus we pray. Amen.

    Oh how I’ve thought about this very thing so many times this last few months. “Am I where I’m suppose to be work wise, Lord?” “Am i walking the right path?” “Am i suppose to do this or that”…often times I feel like I’m just going in a circle and not actually “moving” towards anything…then it dawned on me one day, that fretting and wondering are pretty good ways to keep me in the same place. My 11 year old once said to me that he thinks satan uses distraction and inaction to keep us from God..and I couldn’t agree with him more (the wisdom of children sometimes!!!). I’ve been trying to be more intentional, listening for confirmation and embracing the season that I’m in. thank you for sharing this & for sharing your hearts ladies and gents….hug and love to you all, Jen

    Such clear direction and teaching to grow by Neen. I thank You Father for the words You bless Lynn and Neen with to guide and direct us all here in a ministry Your Presence IS in!
    When I came back from my “free trip” blessing to Three Hills, Alberta and the gift of attending Bible College freely for one solid week I was asked by my friend’s son how I enjoyed my first day of school. 🙂 I jokingly replied, “There was kleenex and tears EVERYWHERE!”
    And we laughed and laughed.
    The VERY NEXT DAY? THAT?……
    is EXACTLY WHAT HAPPENED?…
    and as I watched the pile of kleenex my friend kept handing me fill my lap and overflow to the floor in class, it was an image the Spirit made me take a mental snapshot of and later showed me it again with one spoken word to accompany it. Huh…as I type this I think of those “photographs” being used by The Spirit as “CUE CARDS!?”
    The word.
    Prophetic.
    (insert stunned and shocked look here)
    BUT what I LOVE even MORE is the confirmations that come later. Listening to a lesson just last night I heard words unlock and open the door I stood hesitantly at with my hand on the door knob. (hhmm…even THAT is affirmed just now as I recall the Spirit LOCKING my eyes on DOOR KNOBS at a Hardware store? LOL)…
    The Word: Matthew 18:18 ~ And I will give you the keys of the Kingdom of Heaven. Whatever you forbid on earth will be forbidden in heaven, and whatever you permit on earth will be permitted in heaven.”
    When I first arrived at my friend’s home the tag on the bathroom towels she handed me LOCKED to my eye for a mental snapshot (the best way to describe that is like that old show The Bionic Man…minus the sound effect *wink) The name on the tag?
    Threshold Key.
    At the END of my visit I found a key loose on the bed I was packing my suitcase on which I had NOT seen before and neither had she? Shortly after that she placed in my hand a little lock with a key in it asking if it was mine? What I noticed was the lock? was UNLOCKED! Again..that split second hesitation for the Spirit to take a snapshot.
    And now your post Neen. God reveals more to me through my SUM connection.
    I understand now that I stood frozen on the platform with my hand out to receive my diploma(key)on graduation day but my fist was clenched so God couldn’t give it to me…until now. With my SUM family in the audience I RECEIVE (CHILLSSSS NOW) my Diploma of Prophetic Destiny to LOCK and UNLOCK DOORS to the CAGES the enemy has on this earth!!!!!
    I think John 14:12 is FINALLY SINKING IN TO this THICK, STUBBORN SKULL!
    “I tell you the truth, anyone who believes in Me will do the same works I have done, and even greater works, because I am going to be with the Father.
    I remember when God kept telling me, ACKNOWLEDGE the Spirit!
    My world CHANGED in doing so.
    Jesus is chasing us with keys and the reason I stood frozen on the platform with my hand in a fist on “Graduation Day” was because the “noise” the enemy created around me kept me focused on the things in THIS world so I couldn’t get a HOLD of the KEY to UNLOCK my DESTINY before me!
    Anyone familiar with The Price is Right? It’s like that. Standing on the platform, about to WIN something HUGE BUT you can’t think for yourself because the audience is yelling umpteen conflicting answers at you.
    Think for yourself with your eyes focused on the PRIZE and The Spirit will ALWAYS give you the RIGHT ANSWER! *wink*
    Sounds WILD doesn’t it?
    I TOTALLY agree!
    I pray on bended knee before my keyboard Heavenly Father with unlimited prayers of gratitude for Your Mercy and Grace that NEVER gives up on us. May our eyes be CONSTANTLY LOCKED ON YOU! May our ears hear Your direction through The Spirit. May our Words from this day forward REFLECT Your Spirit in us and I COMMAND now with my KEY IN HAND…LET YOUR KINGDOM COME…Let YOUR WILL BE DONE…ON EARTH…as IT IS IN HEAVEN! WOO! HOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!
    AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAMEEEEEEEEENNNNN!
    I would like to add in regards to things that happen here on earth? I have learned to NOT let the enemy explain it as common, everyday occurrences ANYMORE! Let your mind be transformed to childlike thinking and The Spirit will explain all those natural happenings as supernatural and when THAT happens?….BELIEVE IN IT. No matter HOW CRAZY it sounds!

    Thank you Dineen for this, I have been asking and praying for Gods guidance, for Him the help me walk in His path for my life,but I am finding it very hard and confusing. I have always desired for a family, a husband that will lead our home, one that I can depend on and be a helpmate too. All this seems so far from my reach now, am a single mom, and I am struggling with this. I want Gods will for my life,but not sure how to let go of the desire to be married. Please pray for me to have ears to hear Him eyes to see Him and faith to follow Him.

    Please pray for me and my husband, as our lives have changed a lot in the last 12 months. I have felt what we are doing IS God’s plan, then doubt sinks in because of so many roadblocks. I have known it wouldn’t be easy, but that it would be. I’m unsure of our living situation and my job. I feel Blessed that we have a place to live and that I have a job. I’m praying that what we are doing is not because I wanted it so bad, but that it is God’s plan. I pray God’s plan will be done and that satan will leave leave our lives, he is not welcome! I just need a lot of prayer. Thank you! Patti

    Please pray for God’s guidance for my future career. I am working full time with lots of doors of influence, and God definitely has lead me to this. However, I am going to school to get my Masters. He opened the door for this too. I am not sure where or how God wants me to go in my career. I just want his clear direction, and to hear him loud and clear. Thank you.

    Thank you for the word. I am in a season were I don’t know what my divine destiny and purpose is. For the last 11 years I have focused on my daughter who was born with a heart condition, Praise the Lord she had her last operation early this year but now I feel lost. Please pray for me

    I am in a new season in life. Graduating in March and my husband just recently joined a couples life group with me at my church. He is a non believer but God is opening so many doors for him and us. I’m amazed daily with gods blessings and wonder daily why I doubt! I am learning to be patient, close my mouth and open my ears more. Lol
    I need prayes for my husbands salvation, my husbands career, taking selfishness out of me and lastly, filling my career path God wants for me.

    Lynette, I beleive God is revealing it to you piece by piece as He prepares and heals you. its a process and He reveals just enought for us to get a glimpse of His great love and good plans for us without overwhelming us or putting us in a place of prideful temptation. He wants our hearts first. My friend, I’ve no doubt you are on that path and that you will hold a great prophetic place of influence in the lives of other women. Your strength and gift are growing. It’s hard to be patient I this process (trust me, I know!), but it’s so crucial that we follow Him. Follow Him faithfully, Lynette. So much more is coming. Abba is calling His children to walk in our giftings like never before. Especially prophetically. He will do what He says.
    Abba Father, I pray in great thanks for all you are doing in Lynette to prepare her to walk more fully in her divine destiny each and every day. Fill her with renewed passion, hope and strength so that she me continue to grow and learn. Guard her from doubt, fear and anger–tools the enemy has chosen to defeat her, but she will be victorious in all these area of her life for you have ordained her victory from the very beginning and she will walk in great triumph with You, King Jesus. She will be a prophetic voice for women and bear a great torch of fire that will ignite hope as never before. We praise You, Lord Jesus, for all that You doing inand through Lynette, and all that You will do. We praise You, Lord Jesus, amen!

    Oh Jolene, you are on the path of discovery, my friend. Follow His leading and as you step faithfully into th place of taching, He will reveal more. Already he is pouring into you all you need to teach and love those God brings to yourgroup. It is a precious place to be, to heed His call to lov others so specifically. You wll be a bearer of great hop and strength. As you move forward, you wll see more shifts in yoru husband. I see him turning around from his opposition and coming into position along side you. Great will be your joy as you walk together. Be patient and wait on the Lord.
    King Jesus, we praise You for this great promise to come in Jolene’s life and marriage for You want everyone to be saved and to understand the truth. Lord, pour this truth into Jolene and bless her with great wisdom to share all this will the women who will be coming to her group. Let this be a place of great victory as Your light and truth grow brigher and stronger in her and those with her on this path. Great is Your faithfulness, Lord Jesus! Amen!

    Wow, some amazing stories!! I could do with some confirmation I’ve heard God right, if that’s ok? I felt God telling me to get into comedy (long story I was always interested in acting as a child but went with my head and went the academic route & now wish I’d been brave). So I have tried doing stand up on the amateur nights. Really enjoying it and getting some good feedback but I’m plagued with doubts (is it just me? How could I earn a living doing this when I have kids? Etc). Please pray that I would hear from God right and trust him to make it happen, if I do my bit. Thank you all for your posts & God bless.     As I read your story, I am sorry ypu have suffered from so much physcial pain. I have a back injury so I can telate. But during this process God showed me this was a part of my story. I can guarentee you touched many nurses, doctors, and students during that time.

    Thanks for this post. I thought God was calling me in one direction but he has blessed me now with a total different direction in working with disabled adults. God is teaching me a lot here. My biggest fear is when i get to heaven, I will realize I missed all the amazing plans God had for me. I realize this is the enemy and im trying to build my life on the rock of Jesus.

    Amen and Amen. I love that God has allowed me to walk down so many different paths because in it I find I have connected with so many people in one way or another. I give God all the glory and eagerly await the next step on my journey. I start a new job that begins Dec 8th at our community college’s office where they assist people in many ways along with getting their high school equivalency diplomas. I had been asking God for specific hours and for benefits and I got the hours I was asking for and benefits other than I asked for but better than I could have imagined for a 28 hr work week – vision, dental, IPERS retirement, up to 44 hours a year of PTO time and a couple others I probably won’t get into at first. It truly is a blessing and God always knows how to go above and beyond what we ask for and imagine!!

    Jennifer God’s not going to allow you to miss out on ANYTHING he has for you if you continue to walk in His direction. He is going to AMAZE you with blessings as you work with people with disabilities. I used to do that also and these people that many count as dumb are not dumb at all – they will speak wisdom to you that you cannot imagine and God will use some that cannot speak to demonstrate many new things to you. People with disabilities have an even greater love for the Lord than many “normal” people because they have child like faith and nothing holds them back.
    Thank you for your kind words. Sometimes we are so involved in the pain we don’t realize the strength God supplies us with to come through things and we may never hear how we influenced someone’s life but then God sometimes sneaks in a word of encouragement from our past. I’ve had my husband recently tell me things I’ve done in the past and how he watched how I’ve dealt with various situations and always went to God. So NEVER underestimate how God can use your walk with God. Live your life as blameless as you possibly can and continue to seek God first in ALL you say and do and he will reward you accordingly.

    You are moving into such an amazing realm of discernment. Praying for your protection as the enemy would like to silence what is happening in you. Lean fully into the arms of Christ. I can see there is so much you will do for the Kingdom and things are happening now for you. Wow.

    Brenda I know your pain. I was married for 15 years and then divorced for 3 1/2 and thankfully God has restored our marriage. I spent many nights crying and praying and wondering where I went wrong and then
    I began to seek God relentlessly. I searched His Word intently on what a godly wife looks like and behaves like and kept asking God to change me and mold me to be the person HE wanted me to be. I had to got through a very BIG changing process from being a hard, blunt, bitter, resentful, angry person to being broken, humbled, much calmer, forgiving, patient, and kind person. It wasn’t easy but it was worth it. Draw near to God and allow him to change you and allow God to do HIS WILL in your husband. Don’t set expectations because you are setting yourself up for hurt. Look for the positive things in the man you married – something ignited a spark to begin with – reignite those flames.
    I heard Jimmy Evans say once you can’t pray for someone with an open and honest heart without be changed yourself. You may start out not liking your husband very much but as you continue to pray for him to be the person GOD wants him to be, God actually does something to you and changes how you see the other person.

    Mary I am not sure you should “let go” of the desire to have all of those things on your list. You should want your children to have a father in their lives that loves God and serves him and who loves you. I believe God put those dreams in your spirit for a reason BUT the timing is not right. There is a season for everything. I would recommend you to focus on who God wants you to be as his child and as your child’s mother and the spiritual leader of your home. But that doesn’t mean you have to give up on your dreams. READ, READ, READ and dig into God’s Word and various books and continue to pour your heart out to the Lord – He knows your desires even more than you do.
    Psalm 37:4 says Take delight in the LORD, and he will give you the desires of your heart.
    That doesn’t mean he is going to give us everything we wish for – it means he created us and he instilled within each of us a vast array of desires – ones HE wants to fulfill for us, in us and through us BUT he also wants us dependent on Him. Like any good father he is willing to give us everything we wish for BUT he also wants to be asked – it shows we appreciate the fact that he is always there for us and that we can freely come before him and ask. We have the privilege of crawling up on our Heavenly Father’s lap. Can you picture that? What an honor! We over-complicate God and he wants us to be childlike in our faith.
    Trust Him to guide you and care for you and your family. Be the leader you need to be for now – this could be God preparing you to lead in other areas of your life.

    Heavenly Father I ask you to wrap your arms of love around Patti and to open her eyes and ears to only hear you speaking. We bind satan right now from causing any more doubt or confusion. We pray that the doors you desire for this couple to walk through to be open and the path be made straight – that there would no longer be any fear of going in the wrong direction or of making wrong decisions. I pray Lord that if a wrong turn has been made that you help right the wrong and you make it very clear by closing the doors they are not meant to walk through. I pray that you strengthen their relationship with you and with each other in this time. In Jesus’ precious name – Amen!

    Father I stand with Patti to send prayer requests before Your Throne and ask that Your angel for her and Your angel for her husband will be on guard today and in the days ahead as they stand in the Victory Jesus won for them to live an abundant life with no fear or doubt. Father I ask that this seed the enemy plants in Patti’s mind continually be deemed DEAD right NOW. No fruit from this seed will ever produce in Jesus name. We rebuke the enemy and ALL His attempts to try and break down the Spirit of Power that is building up here in Patti’s marriage and home and we believe GREATER THINGS are ALREADY in progress and we realize the enemy knows this too and THAT is the reason his tactics are increasing BUT we have a shield of FAITH to DEFLECT ALL garbage BACK TO HIM and we stand STRONG TOGETHER as a FORCE to be reckoned with. WE ARE MIGHTY because of God’s Grace and Mercy on us and therefore the enemy is in OUR shadow and NOT the other way around. I pray Your assigned angels take these prayers now and go forward with them as weapons and keys to do battle for Patti and in this week ahead Father we will PRAISE You for the answers we see here and we THANK YOU for the ways You encourage us through the Spirit.     God does not waste anything – your time with your daughter has taught you many lessons and God is bringing you to a place of using those lessons to help others possibly in the same situation. I pray tight now for Vee to have clarity Father in what her next steps are on this journey we call life. I don’t believe we will ever truly know everything there is about our “Divine Destiny”. I believe our destiny is to end up walking through eternity with Jesus and discovering everything there is to know about our Father. But till then we are on a daily journey and God only reveals our steps one portion of it at a time. If we knew our destination we may try to change the path….like those goofy gps machines in cars – oops here’s a roadblock, let’s go this way instead of going ahead the way God planned the route for us.
    Sometimes we also get put in a holding pattern (like a plane on a runway) because we are being prepared for the flight. Trust God to lead. AND PRAISE GOD for your daughter’s life and her journey!

    Lord God You have a BEAUTIFUL SERVANT here asking for direction into destiny that You are holding for her. I stand with Vee asking that this week she will see something that opens a door to stir her heart and that the Spirit will help discern direction for it, whatever it might be. Your daughter with a serving and loving, caring heart is looking for another focus to Glorify Your name and share her Story to encourage and enlighten others through. I ask in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit that this day forward will produce a venue for Vee to begin another chapter to begin producing more fruit and reaping a harvest we are all striving for in Your Name.     Thanks Dineen for sharing more on Jacqueline’s comment to you at ACFW.
    This is such a challenge isn’t, well for many of us. Allowing the Lord to lead us in His purpose so we join Him in His grand redemptive plans.
    Human wisdom suggests we do what we are good at, God has blessed us with certain gifts, so following that path seems to be the logical one to head down. And we can tend to forget that God wants us to depend on Him entirely, so sometimes (or maybe all the time) it’s when we’re feeling least equipped in something, that that is the path to follow especially when we have some positive confirmations from the Lord and others.
    It’s something I’ve grappled with for a while. My corporate career has mostly dried up. Even though I still very equipped to continue that path, the doors just don’t seem to open. And then there’s the writing career that I feel terribly ill-equipped to pursue but it’s the one that I continually sense is what the Lord wants me to pursue.
    Thanks again, Dineen. Given me much food for thought.

    Jennifer, I share that fear, but as you realized, I too am seeing how the enemy wants to snare us with this lie to bring doubt into our lives. I’m so glad you see this, my friend. I know God will doing amazing things through and in you as work with these special people. You will be so blessed, so filled with love and so amazed by the love you receive in this place.     Hi Brenda! I’m so sorry you’re in this place of pain and transition, but I know God WILL do amazing things in you as He prepares you for whatever is coming next. I know it’s hard to not know what’s coming, but I’m finding that in this type of season, God wants our eyes completely and totally on Him. The rest will come, trust Him for it, but for now, all eyes and heart and mind and thoughts front and center on Him. Make this your time to go into deeper intimacy with your God and bring all your pain and needs to Him. He will send His ministering spirits to attend you and He himself will meet you in this time as well with a full understanding of how much He adores YOU! He will NEVER leave you. He will NEVER forsake you. He is your God and He loves you without end. He’s got you no matter what and will take care of you, Brenda.
    King Jesus, bring Your great love and comfort to Brenda. Show her what You want her to know, learn and understand in this season. Lift her chin and bring her gaze fully upon Your face. Help her see that right now, her diving destiny is to know you better, to find her peace, confidence and strength in You. Reveal Your heart for her, and the gifts You have given her. Show her the path and help her to lean on You all the way. Thank You, Lord Jesus, that You have seen her every tear, have mourned with her, and want to bring healing to her broken heart, because that is why you came, to heal the broken hearted.     Hi I would love you to pray for me pls. God has recently shown me that my husband and I are in a new season.(my husband is a new believer) There are several ideas I feel God has given me and is encouraging me to persue which I am and am sensing he may be calling to me to start a new venture. I worry I will miss it if Im not carfeful. We have just moved to a new area and we are still adapting. The Lord showed me in a dream that I was seeking like bluprints and he was encouraging me to step out and start a new charity and i saw that the enmy had been attacking this ministry from being birthed. I have several things I am working on from God which I believe are all links to the bigger vision. I hope i am following the Lord step by step as he unfolds things bit by bit and thank you for your writings, encouragement and prayers.

    OMG! Reading this and everyone’s replies brings me to tears. I keep my card that you prayed over in my purse and just open it to draw strength I asked for revelation this year. I’ve been bornborn-again almost 20 years I’ve attended Bible college been filled with the Holy Spirit. But I know they’re so much more. I know I missed God when I married 3 years ago however finding this SUM family had been more of a blessing than I could ever express. I wrote a paper for scho shared it with my pastor and he’d like me to teach it. YIKES! I fight feeling unworthy to encourage or speak because of my situation. But I encourage daily on my FB and to some who I talk with. Dineen & Lynn thank you for sharing and loving us. HUGS to you both and the rest of our SUMite family.

    That is one wise son you have there, Jen! That’s awesome. I know as you move in this intentionality God will meet you there, my friend. Trust Him to lead you and that if you are moving in the wrong direction He will show you because you have asked Him to.
    Lord Jesus, I pray that you would fill Jen with such confidence in You, and grow her trust and knowledge that You are guiding her. Help her to rest and relax in You so that she can hear You, sense your presence, and enjoy this journey with You. That is the intentionality she seeks, Lord.
    Jen, as I pray this for you, I heard the word “established.” He has placed you where you are for this time and season. He is “grounding” you too. Not sure what all that means but seek Him for confirmation.
    Here are Scriptures I felt God giving me for you:
    Out of the mouth of babies and infants,
    you have established strength because of your foes,
    to still the enemy and the avenger. – Psalm 8:2 (such sweet confirmation of your son’s words!)
    The steps of a man are established by the Lord,
    when he delights in his way;
    though he fall, he shall not be cast headlong,
    for the Lord upholds his hand. – Psalm 37:23

    Abba Father, You know above all the value and need of the father to a child. I ask that You would give Mary peace about this, that she would release this need to You in renewed trust and patience to wait on You for the who and when. Lord, I pray that this time of waiting would be a season of deeper intimacy with You, that she would embrace Jesus as her ultimate groom as she waits for an earthly one. This is such a time of preparation for Mary, Lord. I see Your hand upon her life. I hear the word “ripening.” Thank You, Lord, for this time of preparation and “ripening” that You are doing in her heart. In Jesus’ great name, amen!

    Thank you I can always use the encouragement. I sometimes get lost in the role of caring for others so much that I forget to care for myself. I’m that person that always appears so strong but I have weaknesses too that I hide well. Thank you again.
    The things God has brought me through at the time seemed like struggles but now I can look back and see them more as growing pains.

    King Jesus, I lift Patti and her husband before Your throne of grace and ask that You supply all their needs out of Your glorious riches (Phil 4:19) as You have promised You would. Lord, You are so good to us and so generous. Bring Patti close to Your heart so that she can hear how Your love beats for her. Affirm in her that she is on the right path when the enemy tries to bring her doubt and discouragement. Make Your voice the one she hears the clearest so that the enemy’s attempts fall and fail as they are meant to be-useless. And I declare this over Patti and her husband today, that the enemy’s plans cannot succeed, that they have failed. Lord Jesus, thank You for drawing Patti closer and closer to You!     I used to always feel the discontent part. Then God opened my eyes to how we complicate our lives with setting expectations on ourselves, others, and life in general rather than living in the moment and enjoying the journey.
    Father God I ask right now that you stop all these arrows of guilt and discontentment and pour out a blessing on Annette to where she knows without a shadow of a doubt that you are working in her husband’s life and if there is something more or different she should be doing then open the doors that you desire her to walk through and close whatever doors you desire closed. Give her confirmation of changes before she makes any decisions so that she is confident it is from you. Thank you Father God. In Jesus’ name, AMEN

I was in this place with my daughter for several years as she went through depression, a brain tumor, recovery and then more depression. She is blooming and walking into her full life now and doing great. I remember well this place you are in. Like Merlene said, this time with your daughter is valuable preparation for whatever God has next for you. Rest in Him right now and make Him your focus. Let Him spoil you a bit with His love and attention.
    Abba Father, You have watched this mother take faithful care of Your charge for 11 years. She has given her all and You have been faithful and brought her daughter to restored health. Now show her what You have waiting for her because it is good and it is to prosper her. Lord Jesus, thank You for all the blessing and healing You have brought to this family. May all that Vee has walked through become the stuff of miracles and blessings to come! In Your name, Jesus, amen!

    Praise God for your husband’s salvation!! Doing a happy dance for you. Have you discussed your dream with your husband? I believe you need to have open and honest communication and don’t walk in fear of sharing it with him. Since you are in a new season this could be the EXACT thing that will bring it to pass and for him to help you in it.
    Father we thank you for new seasons, we thank you for this man coming into alignment with you. We thank you for dreams and visions and we thank you for guidance and wisdom in the directions this is leading. We thank you that you are birthing small projects leading to a much bigger vision. In Jesus’ name, amen.
    I encourage you to take one step at a time and know with confidence that IF this is God’s plan that he will not allow you to miss anything. His Word says when we diligently seek him we will find him and he knows your heart to follow his leading. Trust in Him. Don’t get in a hurry or panic, that is when we make unwise decisions. Pray first and seek peace in all your decisions. And by all means draw your husband into it. It could be a joint ministry in the making that only God is capable of orchestrating.

    Lord, we know You are in all the details of this transformation too. We profess belief today that this man’s salvation is secure in You, that his career and provision are secured through the provision from Your great and generous riches, and that You will bring all things into place in Your timing. And that is a great big God who loves and adores you, Who has great plans and purposes for you, and that every day, God is there working to bring that good into your life.

Fill her with the reassurance that she IS on the right path and that You are and will be faithful to lead her. She has asked for that and You are answering even now! And I pray against any lingering doubt, in the name of Jesus, and command it to leave. Amen!

    Lord Jesus, I pray that as Carrie sits before you in her quiet moments that You would begin to reveal what her spiritual gifts are. Connect the dots for her, Lord. Show her what You have already placed in her. And I ask for more, more, and more. That the great plans and purposes You have for her would begin to take form in her life. That she would begin to see the path You are beckoning her to follow. And thank You, Lord Jesus, for so carefully crafting every part of it just for Carrie.     I am SOOOOOO late to this awesome party, but hey, I’m here! I think this was such an amazing post and I can relate to this a lot. I often want to use my gifts the way I see someone else using theirs and it ends up in disappointment. I think that KNOWING who we ARE in CHRIST is sooooo important. I am in the learning stages of myself and I really don’t feel the need to compare myself to others. My thoughts are I am awesome being me and you are awesome being you and my awesomeness doesn’t take away from your awesomeness. When we truly embrace this, that’s when stuff happens. The biggest deception that I have fallen for was not so much comparison to other believers, but to non-believers….now that’s REALLY bad….why would I ever want something that a heathen has? Just saying, it doesn’t make me better than someone who doesn’t believe, but I need to treasure the gift God has given me…. an eternal place in Heaven. Wow. This post is awesome! Yes, we need to sometimes give up what we want because it may not be what God has planned for us and His plans are ALWAYS better than ours.
    This just brings me back to when I got fired at a Vet clinic I worked at. I carried bitterness in my heart for a couple years, but looking back, I see God’s hand and I am in such a SWEET place. I am IN ministry and what I do is actually important. I also see how God worked this opportunity out. I did not seek my position at my church, I was SOUGHT after…..how awesome is that!
