Hope Floats

Praying over this post, this is what the Lord gave me. And I thought, "Ok. Hope is really a perfect topic for Holy Week." I mean…that's really what its all…

Praying over this post, this is what the Lord gave me. And I thought, "Ok. Hope is really a perfect topic for Holy Week." I mean…that's really what its all about. Freeing us of the bonds of sin and giving us hope in the security of eternity.

For more than a week.

So FINALLY I asked the question: "Ok Lord. Hope Floats. What does it mean?" (Now keep in mind that Hope Floats is the name of one of my favorite movies so I was REALLY not sure where this was headed! ha!)

"Hope. It helps YOU to float – to rise above your circumstances. It helps you to be lifted above your worries, your doubts, your fears. I sent My son so that all humanity would be able to live with the confident expectation of abundance in this life and giddy anticipation of the grandeur of life with Me in Paradise."

Really. What do you say after that?

Hope floats.

Lord God,
I come before You in humble reverence and great awe. I come before You with a heart so deeply touched, so deeply pierced by the reality of what You've done for me. Without You, without Jesus, all my efforts in this life would be in vain. That You gave me Your son so that I wouldn't have to face the due penalty for my sin. That He willingly sacrificed His life so that I wouldn't lose mine. I am humbled. Deeply humbled. Deeply grateful to Him and to You. Break my heart this day, this week, this month, this year ahead for those who don't know yet the hope that You've given mankind in Christ. Break my heart for Your creation. Break my heart for those who belong to You but who don't know anymore how to hope. Replenish my hope. Fill me to overflowing so that I can fill somebody else with what I can't contain in my own heart. I so often lose sight of the reality and the enormity of who I am in You, who You've enabled me to be through Jesus. Help me to remember. Help me to hold tightly to Your truth above all else. My hope IS in You. Oh Lord please. Please Father…

I love You, Lord. I love Jesus. And I thank You both for your sacrifice for me. I worship You, Oh Lord. I exalt You. I praise Your holy name. Oh Jesus. You are worthy of honor. You are worthy of praise. I adore You. I adore You, Lord. I adore You, Messiah. Oh that Your love has justified me. Words cannot express… not in this lifetime… I will spend all eternity singing Your praises, proclaiming Your truth, Oh how I love you. I am unworthy, but You have called me worthy. I am not good enough, but You have made me good enough. Words fail me Lord, but You alone know… You alone know the absolute depths of my passion and desires and trust in Your love, plan and goodness for me. Father rest on me today. Fill me with You. Fill me afresh. Pour out and overwhelm me. Overwhelm me today with who You are and how You love me. Overwhelm me Lord. Overwhelm me.
All these things in Christ's precious name. Amen.

    A friend of mine said she didn’t think we had to be broken to know Jesus. She’s right. We don’t. BUT!!…OH WHAT A DIFFERENT relationship the broken have with him! Thank you Jesus for breaking me. I pray for all to be broken so they will TRULY know You. Thank you heavenly Father for your loving sacrifice at the cross. +

    Amen to all that is written here and in heaven. Praying for every family of SUM that Jesus would be more than real to each of us and that he would wrap his precious arms around us and our families. Praying for peace on each one and protection from the enemy.

    Thank you, once again I needed to hear this. My heart is breaking, or rather broken and now in the numbing process. My husband just can’t seem to find it in him to respect me in a genuine way. While I know he has been trying, it’s been very awkward. But DISrespecting me seems to come so natural for him. I have handed him and our relationship over to Jesus quite a while ago, I have been praying for YEARS for things to change, it just seems to get worse. One day I think things are fine, the next we take several steps back. I am to the point of giving up “hope” in my marriage. Respecting your spouse should not be so difficult and awkward. Right now, I am thinking this is what the Lord wants for me. I don’t see how disrepect can be apart of God’s plan unless it’s for me to finally be fed up and move on? Some advice would be greatly appreciated.

    Oh Maggie.
    Im prayin girl. it’s so hard to hold on when the darkness seems to last FOREVER.. but if God hasn’t given you clear release, don’t quit. And if you believe He is, seek Him and ask. He’ll show you. Love you girl!

    May I share something in hopes you can relate in some way? In my situation, hubby was down right hateful for no reason I could discern. Turns out that he was so full of self-doubt, nothing-good-happens-to-me attitude that he was trying to drive me away to prove to himself how rotten life is. The thing is God made me stubborn. I wasn’t buying into it. He needs an example of unconditional love. We’ve come through that ‘test’ and he is becoming very loving. … This may not fit your situation. I share it to show how the devil works and twists thinking. Your husband disrespecting you has nothing to do with how worthy of respect you are… You are a princess, daughter of the King of kings. And you are loved. Keep respecting yourself and calmly set boundaries as needed. Who knows what issues weigh on your husband.

    Hey Maggie, I was reading a book on Joseph last night and this part of your comment caught my eye “Right now, I am thinking this is what the Lord wants for me. I don’t see how disrepect can be apart of God’s plan unless it’s for me to finally be fed up and move on?”
    Remember Gen 50:20 “You intended to harm me, but God intended it for good to accomplish what is now being done, the saving of many lives.”
    Joseph’s brothers threw him in a pit to let him die and ended up being sold into slavery. How could that be God’s plan? But God used what the enemy meant to harm Joseph into an opportunity to save all of Egypt and his own family’s lives. It might not make sense now, God’s ways are not our ways…but He has a plan to work your trouble and pain into good. He desires to give you “a crown of beauty instead of ashes, the oil of joy instead of mourning, and a garment of praise instead of a spirit of despair.” (Is 63:1)

    Ro,
    I rediscovered/fell in love with this verse this past week, I use it as a prayer. It’s perfect for this post so I thought I’d share. Hope really does help you rise above your circumstances!

    May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.

    Theresa, It does fit to some circumstance, however over the years i have ben forgiving, talked until I was blue in the face to figure things out, I mean, how much is one to endure? When is enough enough? I know, it’s truly not up to me, but i feel as though my heart is hardening, and that truly scares me. I don’t want my love and kindness to stop working in this world, or rather the love of God in me, but this is sucking the life out of me. I don’t know what else to do but to just let go completely. I don’t understand why it all has to be SO hard? I just want to love my husband and kids, and have a mostly happy life. I’m tired, tired of being tested, i just can’t fight anymore when it doesn’t seem worth fighting for. WHAT am I fighting for? I feel like his guinea pig that he testing out how to treat a woman. I can’t be the guinea pig anymore. I just want to live a Christ centered life with morals and integrity. Is that too much to ask?

    I have always believed this, but recently I do not feel God anywhere. I keep talking to him, but I feel so alone. My prayers are always answered the complete opposite of my request. I know I don’t know God’s ways, but does it all have to be so painful? Can anything at all be a little easy

    As Ro said Maggie. God will show you very clearly and simply the answer in which way you should go. I always tell Him I need it simple and right in my face because I don’t want to miss His direction for my life and that’s exactly how He gives it to me. Just be very aware to discern it correctly. Jesus I pray you will help Maggie to know Your plan for her marriage and that You will speak loud and clear to her heart as You have with so many of us here. We have shared how clear You have spoken to some of us with our stories we relate personally here and my prayer for Maggie now is that You will do the same for her now so she will be encouraged by Your closeness in her life. She needs to feel You near to strengthen her at this time and I also pray she will hear Your quiet whisper in her spirit for very clear direction now Lord. In Your mighty name we praise You for the love You pour out on us and only want to do what is Your will. Help us to not make the wrong choice but the right choice that will have You Lord God in it with us. Amen!

    This made me think of the last supper. Jesus said this is my body broken for do this in rememberance of me. He was broken so to follow Him we do follow His example and enter into brokenness. -to identify with Him.

    Maggie,
    Your in a PERFECT place to give your heart away to HIM! He understands how hard your situation is. He wants to change YOUR heart! Seek Him with ALL your heart and He will be found by you. Make your prayer LORD change me. I’ve been where you are and in my experience dealt with much persecution. Ladies,we are a part of the persecuted church on the front linesin our marriages. Let Him break your heart Maggie,and pour it out unto Him. He says a broken spirit and contrite heart I will not despise. The sacrifices of a broken spirit are precious in my sight.

    Crystal….I thought I have…countless times. I am a person who wears their heart on their sleeve, I don’t know how to keep any of it in. I have cried out to my Jesus, face on the floor so many times for the deliverance for my marriage. I don’t know what else to pray. But Ladies, your words are encourageing, and your prayers, I am SO greatful for, you have no idea. Well…maybe you do :)God Bless each and every one of you and yours. I will continue to seek God.     Oh Dineen thanks so much for that message of HOPE ! I so needed it today! My heart is aching for choices my teen-age daughter is making and I have been in a dark place, saying God Help me out of this pit! And He heard my cry and sent me your message, I am clinging to HOPE that only HE can give!!

    Maggie,I’m hugging you! There is a story that’s coming to mind…the LORD asked a man to push against a rock. Day in and day out the man obeyed,and faithfully gave it his all,but therock would not move. He cried out to God and with no response continued to do his task although the rock would not budge. Then the day finally came,broken and worn he had given it his all and God appeared,and said Good! Now You are stronger. I will move this rock.
    He is with You in the place that you are in. He sees you and knows the dificulty of your circumstances and all your going through. He

    great observation Crystal; As i prepared for the week, the Lord really rested communion on me… And I believe that’s the whole point… Even though I never really delve into ‘communion’, per se, the whole point is that God gave us Jesus so that our fellowship with Him would be (could be – because we get to choose) unbroken. If we are willing to walk in full relationship, we will have such an amazing oneness with the Father…mindblowing…

    Thank you all so much for your prayers. My husband and I finally talked again last night and he apologized for disrespecting me in any way. He said he wants to figure out how to recommit himself to me and set himself a standard of how to treat and respect me. I gave him the email address to the pastor of the church I go to, he said he is going to contact him. He admitted that he has no other male companions to talk to about me, so he keeps it all in. I told him he needs to speak with someone who has a solid moral marriage…that’s why I gave him the pastor’s email. He said he is going to contact him. Please PRAY that he does this. He told be a while ago that he wants to live a more holy life, last night I asked him what that meant to him. he said to trust God more. I told him that is certainly part of it, but there is so much more. I PRAY heavenly Father, that you lay it on Kevin’s heart to truly want that holiness in his soul, that he will reach out to you and never look back. I pray that our family can be united with you dear Jesus, that you can walk us through this life with you as our centerpeice. Oh hear my prayer Lord, let us be your warriors. Thank you my father.

    I love this blog and I’m constantly coming back to read and finding new words of wisdom and reminders of God’s love. I live a generally happy Christian life with a loving husband and two wonderful and healthy children. But every now and then I do find myself getting overwhelmed by the stresses of everyday life such as bills or work. And it’s at these times when I think we need to remind ourselves the most about how God is with us and will always help us find a way just as long as we keep our faith in him. So with this message you’ve made on Hope I have an added piece of wisdom to carry as I move forward and work through life’s little troubles before they become really big troubles. With his love and protection I know that I will always find a way to rise above my troubles.
