BabyWhen I was a teen-aged girl, I remember telling my mother I would never have kids or dogs when I became an adult. I can still see my Mom trying to conceal her mirth over this pronouncement. I moved out and married shortly thereafter and within three years I had both.

The Lord knew I needed the lessons and the rich blessings of motherhood. He gave me both a boy and a girl. My son is 25 years old today and my daughter 12 going on 13 in a month. What I have learned as a mother is a priceless treasure from the Lord above.

I understand what unconditional love is.
How our Father weeps for those who are prodigal.
I know how to forgive and forget.
Self-centeredness is not an option.
It is better to give than receive.
Money does not make one happy but the hug and a kiss from a dirty and tired cherub is priceless.

And, this is just the beginning of the list….

    That was very very sweet! I never could imagine how much a blessing motherhood could be and I praise God each day as I experience each day anew with mine…then I discovered the peanut butter in the couch and I think…where’s the dog? Lol
    What’s amazing is how if we wanted to really know what our Father’s love must be like….all we have to do is look in our own children’s eyes and see the hand of God…touching through their hearts to ours…

    same here; I told myself I won’t have children (but I would have a dog), but a couple of years later I got married and had a beautiful son! am so thankful if didn’t happen the way I wanted it to be! 🙂

    I made a similar pronouncement to my Mother as a teenager and again as a young adult. I, too, now have two beautiful children that have taught me how to love as I never had before.

    That is so cute…As a teen I declared I wanted to be like Ethel Kennedy and have about 12 kids, with some nannies of course… Didn’t happen – I had four – but he has place a few spiritual children in my life… So, I may reach 12 before you know it — ?
    My Mom taught me to be kind.
