Dangerous Prayers

God I am willing…God take control….God do whatever it takes…..

Dangerous prayers are life-altering prayers, where faith and human nature collide. My human need to self-protect can be at war with God’s will.

I have come to a place in my life where I must choose to pray a dangerous prayer. As many of you know, my husband is not a Christian. More than anything, I want him to find Jesus. For years, I have prayed, asking for his deliverance. Those prayers have not been unanswered or wasted. God worked through the prayers spoken for my husband to craft my eternal character.

Through recent circumstances, God asked these questions about my prayers: “Are you truly ready?”
“Can you earnestly pray, God do whatever it takes?”
“Are you willing to walk through fire with him (husband)?”
“Lynn, will you give up your comforts? Your home? Your health?…… Your life?”

*Gulp*

It is easy to pray, “O Lord, save my husband but please don’t disrupt my life or my kids lives. Don’t let him loose his job. Don’t let hardship into our lives. Keep us from pain. But please save my husband.”

I don’t believe God will demand I forfeit each of these security blankets I desperately clutch to my chest. However, it may take the forfeiture of one to get my man’s attention. Today I am willing and this is my dangerous prayer, God do whatever it takes…period. The end!

Today I stepped into the Danger Zone. No turning back…no turning back!

What is your dangerous prayer today? Let’s join together. We are the prayer warriors who walk the danger zone for the cause of Christ.

Lord, teach us to pray the fantastic and the dangerous. Remind us as we pray that we can trust you. We know Your love directs the perfect plans for our lives. Do not allow us to cheat ourselves of the opportunity to see Your power displayed through the fantastic answers to our prayers. In Jesus name, Amen.

    I’ve prayed those dangerous prayers before. They are pretty scary when you mean the “whatever it takes”!

    Oh wow. I’ve prayed those prayers. I’ve prayed them over myself – things like strip me. Make me look like you. Use me HOWEVER You see fit. I will follow, no MATTER where You lead. Yeah.
    And for my Mister. I’ve prayed whatever it takes, and asked specifically that if he would not repent and turn his face back to the Lord, that the Lord would simply take him home to be with HIM, rather than allowing him to continue using his gifts in the wrong way and jeopardizing his children’s salvation.
    Needless to say, I am ECSTATIC that he’s getting his act together – however slow a process it seems to be.

    What a divine appt this post was for me, Lynn. I have comfort in the fact that things will work out in God’s time for my husband. Unfortunately, I’m not so good at letting go and letting God on a schooling situation for my son. He really IS bigger than all my worries, and He really does have a perfect plan.     Lynn, I say gulp too – I do want to have Jack saved too – not only saved but that he too uses his talents and gifts for the church of Christ and not for this world. I love what you wrote:

    I thought about how I struggled to submit my life to Jesus and how much time and questioning I needed to finally trust Him. Today I think what an idiot I was to take so long to trust the Lord. Now when you wrote that about praying the dangerous prayer I thought: this is the same thing – God wants me to trust him 100% without any questions asked regarding Jack.
    So ladies and Men – you are my witnesses to the prayer:
    Heavenly Father, creator and master of Jack’s Life. I thank you for giving him to me as my husband and father of our children. As you know Jack tells me he just cant believe Your Son: Jesus Christ was born from a virgin through the Holy Spirit and that on Easter Jesus Christ, Your Son arose from the dead. Almighty, powerful God: I ask you to bring Jack to the cross – You never force yourself onto anyone and I thank you for that. It is of our free choice – You are a generous and Holy God! I ask you to bring Jack to Your Cross. At Jesus Cross we see a glimpse of Your Huge and Never Ending Love and Sacrifice. You alone know what it will take and need that Jack lands at your cross. I am afraid alittle and nervous but You install in me much more trust and love than my own fears. So today I no longer want to be blocked: I lay myself including my entire family: Jack, Me, Franziska, Fritz and Hansjakob with our house, finances, land, jobs and friends down at your cross. I ask for your Blessing and protection and leadership. I thank you Holy Father that You alone will fulfill the scripture and visions for our family and home. In Jesus Name and in trust that the Holy Spirit speaks and handles to us all, Amen

    Lynn I love this devotion. I’m praying those dangerous prayers for members of my family. I love what you said about stepping into the danger zone and the song you quoted. I’m praying that everyone those who are praying the whatever it takes prayers will soon begin to see God move on their behalf.
