What Do We Do With AI?

Lynn Donovan here. I feel as though there are a number of issues that profoundly impact our lives and our faith walk. It started with Charlie. And feel a number of questions arising that absolutely are impactful upon our relationship with our spouse, our relationship with other believers and our relationship with God.

So, randomly, from time-to-time, I’ll schedule a post that starts: What do we do with…..

Today’s question is this. What do we do with AI?

There are vast answers to this question. Currently AI is helpful in many ways. I’ve used AI to create an art project that I had on my mind so that I could paint it at church during worship. And I’ve used AI created art in some of my former posts. I’ve asked AI to create a ministry application document. I’ve asked AI to summarize points in a document or a book.

But here are some things I’ve investigated regarding AI that feel like a warning shot across the bow. Did you know that thousands of people are using AI chatbots to speak with their dead loved ones? Or how about, Talk to God. Ai. This is a platform that mimics God with responses such as, Hello, my child. Just now I searched for AI to talk with God. Here is the first response:

You can engage in conversations with AI platforms like PocketPastor.AI and Divine Talk, which simulate dialogues with spiritual figures and provide guidance based on biblical teachings.

Recently I received an email from a pastor who said that his image is being used in AI to create entire sermons that he never preached. Additionally, an author who was researching Near Death Experiences was tying to source a number of NDE’s that were posted to YouTube only to find out they aren’t real people.

The scary thing the NDE’s researcher said was that one video described their NDE encounter where they met with Jesus and Jesus illuded that homosexuality was not considered a violation of the Bible. Read: 1 Timothy 1:8-11

Okay, I don’t know about you, but I feel as though I’ve turned into a professional BS meter. I’m older than many of you and life wasn’t always this way. People were honest. Companies were honest and had their consumers’ interest and satisfaction was their highest priority.

It’s not like that now. Sifting through all the lies is a 24/7 exhausting existence. Ugh! And now we can speak with God online through a Chatbot!!!!! (sarcasm) Yikes.

Here is the truth. Really hear me now.

We are invited to go directly to God. Hebrews 4:16

We are assured by Jesus, Himself, that we can hear God. John 10:27

Jesus promises communication. John 16:23

As AI develops, we will continue to see greater deceptions that will appeal to thousands of believers. These technologies also appeal to our unbelieving spouse and family members. You will have friends who visit the AI chatbots to talk to their dead relatives. We must have our thoughts and beliefs sorted out now so we can walk through some of these future challenging conversations with truth and conviction in our hearts.

Also, we must realize that the demonic realm will infiltrate these platforms. They are gleefully wringing their gnarled hands in anticipation. The interactions with these simulated platforms will lead people into greater deceptions.

Will AI become the anti-Christ? No, that will be a real person. However, AI could be the beast that comes to life.

And he had power to give life unto the image of the beast, that the image of the beast should both speak, and cause that as many as would not worship the image of the beast should be killed. Revelation 13:15

Gulp.

I’m not saying that AI is all doom and gloom, but the potential is certainly a reality. Who is really guiding the learning curve of AI. Is it the satanic goth cult of Silicon Valley? Is it evil? Is it good?

How do you wade through the massive amounts of BS that comes through your life each day? Where do you find truth? Where do you find peace? What are your thoughts regarding our faith lives and AI?

See you in the comments. Can’t wait for this conversation. Blessings and hugs, Lynn
