I am overwhelmed by the power of prayer. It is a mystery that mere mortals can talk directly to our perfect and holy Father. I am astonished He listens. Further still, He goes about answering prayer sometime in such incredible ways there can be no doubt God is moving in our midst.

Today, Thursday, February 7, 2008, 1Peter3Living will be praying and fasting. I have been so moved by this online community who are willing to fast and pray, many for the first time. We invite you to join us. We are fasting today from sunrise to sunset. Join in even if you have had breakfast. If you want to follow our prayer conversation, the scriptures we share, the answers to prayer, please log in. You are welcome and among friends.

It is our desire to only seek God’s will and to worship Him. We expect to meet Him in the throne room to experience a new closeness through the Holy Spirit and to bring others before Him who need His hand in their lives.

I have been privileged to be a witness to miraculous prayer. I have experienced the Lord in ways I cannot explain. Prayer is the sweetest of blessings next to forgiveness and my salvation.

Thank you Lord for teaching us to pray and placing an urgency in our spirit to fast. Lord, let us only pray within your perfect will. Thank you Father, In Jesus name, Amen.

    You are so right about prayer. It is very powerful. I know God answers prayes and when HE does I’m like WOW! Every time. I get so excited just like it was the first time. God is good!

    I have to fast in the am for the dr…might just do it all day and join you….
    and you know….I’m a laugher….gets me in trouble sometimes….maybe we need a LAUGHING club….come post the random funny things….

    Lynn, so true. I am often so overwhelmed at the honor, the privilege – the very price paid so that I, little me, can have direct access the Creator; the Almighty; Alpha; Omega…How silly of us not to go to Him daily, hourly, minute-by-minute…seconds. I was taught in my youth to walk in an attitude of prayer and I really need to embrace that attitude again so that my heart is open and ready to surrender to His voice and pray for those around me…and to change the things I need to change in my own life. Blessings sister…what a rich time.

    Over the last several months God has been showing me the importance of gathering together to pray. I usually stayed away from places that I’d have to open myself up and pray in front of people, but what an awesome time of growing in my prayer life since I have!!

    Every time I have a second to myself (on the train, walking, etc.) I now find myself praying/talking to God in my mind & guess what…I’m walking taller these days with a light heart & spring in my step!

    Lynn—thank you so much for taking Wanda into your prayers…tonight she is in pain. From the swelling of the fluid. We pray that the new meds they have started her on will work. I love you—seems like I have had crisis after crisis this year. Iremember clearly at Christmas that mother had told us all of what she felt the Lord shared with her just days before Christmas. Her words, “children, I have been awakened many mornings in the wee hours and had to get up and go pray. The Lord is telling me that we are about to undergo many trials, but He is reminding me through a song, “the Anchor holds”. Family–the Anchor is Jesus and He holds when all else in this world is shaken. Take hold of that Anchor. Pray like you’ve never prayed before.” Lynn, those words ring over and over in my head.
    I WANT to pray more than ever before. I have such an urgency to “get with Him” daily. Twice a day for clear-choosing—dedicated time—and then all throughout the day for “mini-prayer” times.
    I do not know what the future holds, but I know we are called to pray—and keep on praying. Heaven is nearer today than yesterday. I pray -PRAY for you man and you in your marriage—for the Lord to do a mighty work and open the blinded eyes to the Truth of Jesus!
    I love you—thank you for being such an awesome friend and beloved sister!

    It’s been a long day! I’m just getting to some of the TT’s tonight. I’ll have to finish the rest this weekend.
    I wish I could have joined you all today. I’m a firm believer in prayer and fasting. I try to do one sunset to sunset fast a month, usually when my hubby’s out of town. Then I don’t have to worry with cooking.
