1122915_pray Dear friends, Lynn and I need your help! We want to put a chapter in this book that has all these wonderful Scriptures that we can pray for our unbelieving spouses, like a heavenly resource. Can you help us?

Would you tell us what Scripture you pray for your spouse? Do you put their name in as you pray? Here's an example of one I use frequently, and not just for my hubby:

For this reason I kneel before the Father, from whom his whole family in heaven and on earth derives its name. I pray that out of his glorious riches he may strengthen you, NAME, with power through his Spirit in your inner being, so that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith. And I pray that you, NAME, being rooted and established in love, may have power, together with all the saints, to grasp how wide and long and high and deep is the love of Christ, and to know this love that surpasses knowledge-that you, NAME, may be filled to the measure of all the fullness of God.- Ephesians 3:14-19

I love praying this verse out loud and speaking my loved one's name right into it. Is there a verse or a piece of Scripture you pray for your lost loved ones? What does it meant to you personally to do this?

We'd love to have these contributions from our readers to encourage those who read it. Your heart speaking to theirs! Now that's 2 Corinthians 1:3-7 in its purist form, don't you think?

    Lynn and Dineen, I am a wife of almost 34 years who has walked through a marriage road littered with explosive land mines, but because God is faithful He and I were able to overcome my husbands drug/alcohol/pornography addictions, a long term affair with another woman, and my husbands emotional, verbal and financial abuse and unrelenting controlling nature. WE are now on the other side of this!! And have been for several years now. My husband loves the Lord and spends much time in, bible study, seeking Godly relationships, in church, and prayer. Our story is truly a miracle. Our 4 wonderful grown children have forgiven him and have a healthy relationship with him. I claimed many, many scriptures through the years, but the one I still use and hold onto every day is based upon the principal of Matthew 16:18.The words are slightly different- but this is what I say and claim in Jesus’ name….”Upon the Lord I have built my home, my life, and my marriage and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it. Not this day!!!”.God is Sovereign and merciful, and faithful, and it is only because of HIM I have a life being rebuilt on His foundation. He is truly restoring to us the years the locust ate away.     Hi Cate,
    I am sitting in our church office with m friend, Pam. We just read your your comment and we are in tears. Your life story is the most encouraging thing I have heard. If the Lord Jesus can triumph in a man’s life and through your marriage, there is hope and joy ahead for every… single…. one of us.
    I am praising Jesus.. I worship Him for what he has done in your life. Thank you for taking time to encourage us all…. And this scripture just screams to me of the power of Christ in an ordinary woman’s life. Thank you.

    Wow cate – that is amazing!!!! When I pray for my hubby I don’t go to scripture – but I will work on that:) I’m such an immature Christian I still search read the scripture to help me in my walk but as I get stronger I will use it for others. Right now as my husband strongly teases about his nun wife and resists the change in my I often think of 1 Peter 4:12-19. I’m definitely coming back here to see what others wrote!!!!!

    Cate Tuten what a powerful testimony, huge!
    I am personal honored to learn of you. I have been so blessed my life thus far and have a wife who converted to Loving Jesus after years in catholicism, our life center around learning God’s ways. So when I hear testimonies like yours I praise God for His wondrous Grace, and forgiveness. Ps 23-6 is one that I have prayed for my wife after we were married, I am working on Job about perceived character mine to me and others.

    Cate – as most know around here, I am going through a situation that has just about knocked me straight through the floor in my marriage. Reading your encouraging post has really helped me see that God knows the plans he has for us, not to destroy us or hurt us…When we are hurting, its so hard to cling to those things. Reading your words are helping me to do cling to our Father much more. I am facing some hard times that are coming up soon and well, I know that God is a God of miracles still to this day – I cling to the fact that HE can and will heal me, my children and my husband. God bless you for sharing!

    I have been praying daily Ephesians 6:10-18…and yes I do add his name in there. It makes it more real.

    “For I know (perceive, have knowledge of, and am acquainted with) Him Whom I have believed (adhered to and trusted in and relied on), and I am [positively] persuaded that He is able to guard and keep that which has been entrusted to me and which [a]I have committed [to Him] until that day.” 2 Timothy 1:12 AMP
    I know this scripture isn’t talking about this, but I like to think that the Lord entrusted me with my husband…and as I commit him back to God, He will guard and keep him safe until he comes to the realization of the truth…

    Dear brothers and sisters in Christ, I am in tears reading your comments and praising God that my story can be a blessing to you!! I want to shout–“Yes, Lord. We are all in this together and with you we can all overcome!! We will be triumphant when the God of this universe– the God of us -leads the way!!! The enemy may kick and jab for now, but with Christ he will loose!! And we in Christ will win. If I could say one thing to you all, it would be- fight. Fight like crazy for your homes and your marriage. Fight for your love. Fight for your children. I recently learned that the verse in Proverbs 31 that says in some translations “A virtuous woman who can find?” vs.10, really should be translated as warrior, instead of virtuous. And I love that. That empowers me, for I can be a warrior through Christ. It is good and right to take up arms against the enemy. In fact, we must! There is too much to loose, if not….God is so good because He has allowed my struggles, my “fight” to encourage you. And for that I can truly say, “then it was worth it! Yes, Lord take my mending brokenness and use it to glorify you and to help theses spouses stay strong for you. And for all of the precious children involved, to be protected and sheltered, and esteemed by You”…Every day I gave my children to the Lord, reminding myself that He loved them more than me. And in my human brokenness, in my failures as a hurting wife and mother, GOD was true and came through!! We can all do this! We can. God has and will equip us. A verse I reflect on often is this, “The wise woman builds her house, but with her own hands the foolish one tears hers down.” Proverbs 14:1. May the Lord use that verse to keep us on our knees seeking His wisdom. Blessings to all you.
