Spiritual Warfare and My Unbelieving Husband

I have one last story to share with you.  This trilogy of articles on spiritual warfare has a price. I have asked the Lord to protect my family and me.…

I have one last story to share with you. 

This trilogy of articles on spiritual warfare has a price. I have asked the Lord to protect my family and me. So today, I ask you to pray over my writing and speaking to result in two things; that the Lord, Jesus, is honored and that His Saints are empowered to fight the forces of evil. 

Also, I acknowledge that sharing these accounts of the spiritual realm may be troublesome to those who have never encountered what I describe. However, I began this blog over four years ago with a single purpose: To help others who are married to unbelievers. That is why I am compelled to share this story.

It took me years to learn how to fight for my unsaved husband. After too many years and too many tears, I finally found peace with my faith and my spouse through the power of Jesus Christ alive in my heart. I don’t want one other person to live in wasted years of unhappiness and frustration when I can share the truth I know from sitting at the feet of Jesus. 

It was Christ, Himself who brought healing to my heart and marriage. I want to share what Jesus has taught me so that you can also thrive in your marriage. 

In addition, I know there are many of you who are married to a spouse who dwells smack in the middle of the enemy camp and the spiritual warfare I describe is very real in your life (I have read your comments from last week).

Oh, how I wish I had known what I know now back in the early years. No one was teaching me. No one talked about these battles with the enemy and in fact, most Christians shy away from talking about doing battle with the enemy because it’s so controversial. But, I answer to Jesus and after serious prayer and four years of writing, He told me to share so that I can help someone else fight for their spouse. 

Thank you for praying for me. Now let’s get started.

When I speak at conferences, the audience is always interested in how my husband feels about my ministry efforts. I think that’s a great question and I always tell them this: 

Today I’m going to share with you some stories from my marriage, some struggles, triumphs and the fantastic journey in which God has set in motion. I want you to know that my husband enthusiastically supports my writing and speaking. He has given me his full permission to share our lives. 

In fact, on the day I was preparing to start my blog, I went to my husband and explained what I was doing. I told him that I planned to write about our married life but wouldn’t do it if he objected. I also promised him that if I wrote something I thought might bother him. I would bring it to him to read first so he would be okay with my posting it. (Every time I have, he has always approved- I love that man) 

After my explanation and seeking his approval, he looked at me and said this, “Honey, if you can help one other couple to NOT go through what we have been through. 

Then GO FOR IT.” 

Amazing! 

I still giggle as I remember this. I giggle and delight at how in spite of my husband’s lack of acknowledging God, God uses my husband to do His work on earth. It’s a blast to watch it all unfold. 

With that said, I want to share my account of a time when I was praying for my husband. 

Several, several years ago, I began to pray differently for my husband’s salvation. I was doing some study about breaking spiritual bondage. I was learning that the devil’s lies hold so many people hostage, unable to “hear” to real truth of the gift of salvation. I wanted to pray and fight the bondage that was holding my husband captive to the lie that God did not exist. 

I would lay awake at night and place my hand on my husband’s back as he slept. I would pray for him. Something similar to this: 

Lord, right now I ask that you would break the bondage of lies my husband has around him. In the name of Jesus, I bind the enemy that speaks lies to my husband and that is fighting to keep him away from You. Lord, I ask that you would protect my husband from evil that is fighting to retain its claim over him. Lord, dispatch angels to walk with my man wherever he is goes to protect him. Free his mind and heart. Open his spiritual eyes that he can know the truth and let the truth set him free. In the powerful, life-changing name of Jesus our Redeemer, Amen. 

My prayer was drawn from a couple different passages, which I was studying. Such as John 8:32 32Then you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free." 

I think I prayed like this for many, many months, perhaps even a few years. I can’t really recall. I just know I would pray every night with my hand lightly resting upon him as he slept. 

Well several years ago, I recall it was during the summer months because we have a door in our bedroom where you can step out onto the back patio. I remember that on this particular night we left the door open to allow the cool evening breezes to come in. We kept the screen door shut to keep the bugs out but the air could still flow. 

It was in the middle of the night and pitch dark. I don't know the time of night but I came immediately awake. I sat up in bed. I couldn’t see anything but I felt something had just come through the screen door into our bedroom. I felt alarmed in my spirit.  

I couldn't see anything but I sensed it and……It was seething. 

I could feel its hatred and anger. In a split second, I understood that I was facing an evil spirit who had a claim on my husband. It was seething mad that I was praying it’s claim away. I don’t know how to explain this but to say I just knew….. I knew this thing had “owned” my husband for a very long time. 

What I mean by this is, I think it was assigned to my husband to keep him from finding the truth. And for years had been successful. However, my prayers were making a difference and it arrived to have it out with me. 

Oh my gosh, I started praying like crazy. Out loud and with fervor, I prayed, binding it by the power and blood of Jesus Christ. I spoke and said it no longer had a hold over my husband that Jesus was the truth. I prayed scriptures but I can’t remember today which ones. I also don’t know for how long I prayed like this. It could have been only a minute or many minutes. 

All during this pivotal battle, my husband never woke. Don’t ask me why. I don’t know how loud I was speaking; I was just doing what I knew to do. Pray with the authority of my Lord, Jesus. 

Then suddenly I sensed “felt” it turn and with what I would describe as a great rush like wind, it fled in a hurry back through the screen door. 

It has never been back. 

Whew! 

This encounter happened years ago, before I began writing, but now as I have had time to pray and consider it all, I didn’t realize at the time how important that night was. 

Since that time, my husband has changed. I didn’t notice at first but now I can clearly see that my husband’s hostility toward matters of faith is mostly gone. He doesn’t bristle when I talk about God. In fact, he has moved significantly toward the cross ever since. Although he has yet to cross the line and make Jesus Lord of his life, our marriage now thrives in peace. 

I’m convinced, as a woman, married to a man who doesn’t believe, our prayers for our unsaved spouse are of eternal and monumental importance. 

We are on the front lines. 

At the end of this life nothing, NOTHING, else matters but the salvation of people and a life lived to glorify the Son. 

Period. The end. 

Don’t grow weary. When you are weak, write me. I will pray beside you. I know how utterly important our battle prayers are for the cause of Christ.

    lynn, I have a question for you – this is the same question I ask Jack too:
    doesnt it move you (mike) any closer to Jesus when your wife believes so strongly and testifies her faith so strongly?
    jack says to me: honey, I am happy if you are happy and you leave me alone.
    I am then sad –
    this always always astounds me: how they can watch us for years, and not move. Our mission is not an easy one, but God never promised easy, He promised Peace and Love and Eternal Joy. that we have.

    Lynn – You are such a warrior for God. I know you say that you went through alot and your husband says he wants
    to save anyone from the troubles that you both went through. Please excuse my ignorance but it still amazes me that you can feel so close to your husband even though on something you believe so strongly in he does not share in it with you. I know I have a long way to go in my faith and I know I am still very selfish because I guess I feel like believing the same thing will bring us even closer but that truly is not what unconditional love is about. What I’m wondering is in the very beginning of your journey was there ever a time when you didn’t feel unconditional love for Mike? Did God grow that in you over time? I guess I just want to believe there is still hope for me!

    Very interesting post. And I appreciate the comments here too.
    Cindy, I live in a SUM and I can’t speak for anyone else, but I can say that for myself, when I try to do it on my own, I do not have unconditional love for my husband. I pray for it every day, and when I am praying that way, the love does come. And when it does come from the Father, I am blown away with the power of it. Sometimes I feel so full of love, I am moved to tears. BUT it’s still so very hard to remain strong in my faith and also not let myself fall into depression because of the amount of effort it takes to maintain that love! Does that make sense to anybody at all?
    To Tamara: I have the same question.
    Regarding spiritual warfare, sometimes I feel like I am under attack more than my husband, but maybe I’m just being selfish. Some days I feel so angry that this road is so difficult. It feels like I’m battling all the time, against what exactly I am not certain, although I know it is sent from the evil one. I’ve never experienced such blatant physical attacks as those described by some of you (that I am aware of). When I’m praying regulary, it is much, much better. I really want to do better at praying more in the direction of Lynn’s example, against those dark forces that are holding my husband captive and are causing him to be blind to the truth.     Thank you so much for sharing this, Lynn. You’ve made me realize that both of us are being attacked. You know about the attacks on my husband, but I am now convinced that I am being attacked too, especially in the ways I choose to respond to him. I know how God wants me to respond, yet sometimes I don’t ‘remember’ until it’s too late. I need to do more praying; including adding the prayer you prayed over your husband.

    Wow – scary post, but I needed to hear it. Sometimes I hear myself fall into the lie – if only he was a believer, things will never change, I’m wasting my time. But recently God let me know that my husband is kind of like my thorn…at least for now…being in this relationship is after all what pushed me to Christ to begin with and everytime I am alone and sad is when I am closest to clinging to Jesus.

    Thank you for sharing this!! You know I think why I am so scared to talk about these things is because all the movies I have seen always shows darkness winning,but after reading this it like hit me. The devil or his demons can not hurt me and my family. If I ever encounter this type of thing I can pray to Jesus out loud and it has to flee. We win! Jesus conquers all fear and darkness. Thank you,Lynn. I do not having an unbelieving husband,but I did have a spirit of fear on me and still do to an extent I am realizing. Be praying for me. I want to be completely free of any fear stronghold the enemy has over me! You are such a blessing and a warrior!! Love you!

    Dear Cindy, I have found your post and although it is a year later I feel there are no coincidences with God. My story with my husband is too long to detail. We have been married for 17 years and were unequally yoked. During these years, I have contemplated divorce many times, consulted with lawyers, etc. not for our different beliefs, but for verbal abuse in our marriage. Three years ago I earnestly began to seek God’s reply on whether I was to stay or leave our marriage. I’d be okay with either decision, but it had to be God’s direction…not mine. After a very long painful time (over a year 1/2 of terrible anguish, cries and despair), God answered me and told me He would save my marriage. God gave me a promise! But, as terrible as the waiting period was, it was during this long time I began to trust God.
    My next surprise came when I began to notice changes God was making in me. He changed my love for my husband to a more Christ-like (unconditional) love — the kind you are asking about. It was the revelation of spiritual warfare in our marriage. My eyes were open to the truth: it wasn’t my husband I was at battle with. This was the turning point for me where I began to ache for him and love began to pour out in prayer for him.
    I’m sorry to have to end here…God isn’t through with my marriage yet and right now we are separated, BUT God’s hand is ALL OVER IT! I have been joyful and rejoicing for anticipating the wonderful works He is to do. I’ve gotten out of the way so God can work on him. As long as I remained “in” the marriage he would have never turned to look towards God. I have never in my life felt so loved and adored by what God has shown me. Prayer AND fasting will break strongholds and I’ve seen it. I KNOW God is going to give me the man of my dreams…and it will be my husband!
    Praise God…ALL THINGS ARE POSSIBLE through HIm!

    Lynn,
    It is without hesitation that I feel the Lord led me to your website. I have been battling spiritual warfare in my marriage for many years and four years ago I kept recieving the message from many different venues to wait on the Lord. This past June (2011) the secrets started revealing themselves by the grace of God of an affair that has been going on for the last two years. It was at this time he started leaving once a month, in fact he left on a plane again this morning, to go see this woman he went to high school with. Her husband divorced her because the wouldnt stop talking and texting. As soon as her divorce was final (May) my husband started flying to see her. He would text and talk to her constantly only getting a few hours a sleep a night.( This has only slowed down in the last few weeks) I have been sick to my stomach, crying and feeling so hurt, but all the while I have strength that can not be explained in anyway but to give complete glory to the presence of the Holy Spirit. I have not lashed out in anger or tried to leave. If anything my love for him has grown stronger and my prayers more intense on him finding salvation and being set free of the spiritual strongholds that have him captive. Something has started to change though. They still are in daily contact but the text and phone calls have dwindled significantly and I feel a peace that God is at work in all this, that I can not give up on him and I have to keep praying, fighting this spiritual battle. I even got a job at a church after seven years of being unemployed and the unemployment rate being the highest its been in years here. I have many praying for us and I continue to be led that we will be alright in the end. I remember reading a few weeks back in a devotional that God gives us the vision, but first we must go through the trials and fire to see it manifested. I feel that there are so many watching what is happening here, especially my two teenage children and his family who is wrought with divorce tragedies. We have been married almost 20 years, half of which have been spent with him being deployed ( he is a soldier.) He drinks heavily at times to try and drown out his pain and has told me he knows the right thing to do but feels like something is making him keep going back to her. I annointed our house two nights ago, as well as his phone, laptop, shoes, pillow and him while he slept. I continue to pray peace over him and freedom from these oppressive spirits. That his eyes would be opened wide to the love of Christ and he would find God. That our marriage would be rebuilt with God at the center and we would be stronger as a couple than we have ever known, for God’s glory. My children are also in the middle of this battle and it is taking its toll. Would you please continue to pray with me that he will be set free and our marriage and family would be protected and saved in Christ name, covered in the blood of Jesus? Thank you. I know in my heart God wants me to continue to intercede for him. I can’t give up.. Thank you.

    Hi Lynne , My husband is an unbeliever and has already filed for divorce. I have recently found alot of strength in fasting and praying but I still feel like the enemy isn’t letting go of my husband. I want my husband to come back home as I know that divorce is against what God wills for our lives.
    Please pray with me that the enemy will release his hold over my husband and he will come back to me. I pray that he will have an encounter with the Holy Spirit and that he will start believing in Jesus.
    I have faith that the enemy has already been defeated. Please pray that the spirit of pride in my husband is removed and he will accept that Jesus is Lord and come back for me.I am trusting in God because I know that he will bring my husband back soon. Ask God to strengthen me until then.

    October 15th of last year when you wrote this I spent the last 10 days(up to this date) with my husband, we too are separated and I have learned that patience on God requires pain and suffering, yet now I am learning to embracce it.
    I miss my husband so much there are no words to desribe, but there is peace right now, as God works on his heart drawing him closer, and on my heart to learn to be the Godly woman my husband deserves. I pray all day long for my husband.

    I, too, was lead to this site and your story. My story is very similar and I live with a husband who claims to believe in God but refuses to accept His grace and Holy Spirit. My husband holds tight to his uncontrolled anger, perversions in his conversations with his friends and even his son, he stays open to temptation by contacting other women, is on online dating/hook-up sites, and seems to be overwhelmed by his shame and guilt and takes it out on me. The verbal abuse has gotten better, but still is so hurtful. He’s threatened divorce many, many times and actually filed a few months ago. Two days before my father died (a faithful man who helped me pray for my husband and who showed him unconditional love) my husband has the divorce petition dissolved. Three weeks later, the rage returned as I continue to pray for him (The Praying Wife), and in the rage, I found myself raising my hands to invoke the Holy Spirit to cast out evil spirits and call my husband to repentence and deliverance. He, of course, called my “crazy” and a few choice other names. Last night, the same rage was roaring in him again, and he truly appears to be “insane” when this occurs. He fears me and my prayers and called the police. The officer, who had come before during an abuse call 2 years ago, was a believer, and I shared my plight with him. My husband had made no accusation against me, just that I was praying, and he wanted me to leave the house…his house. The officer politely told him I did not have to leave, according to the law. I stayed and prayed for my safety, although I truly felt no fear, because I asked Christ to protect me, our bed, our room, etc. And I even got some sleep. My husband was so restless and is so fearful of me. I truly see the evil spirits and the effect prayer has on them. Over the past months, he has returned at times to church. Even crying and thanking me for not giving up on him. Admitting that he doesn’t know why I love him, why I stay. His deliverance feels so close, yet is still so far and I know I must wait for God and His time. I pray for strength, resolve, unconditional love for my husband, and words that help heal him for Christ. Thank you for sharing this story, and letting us know we are not alone in these battles. May God be glorified by all our plights! We do this in His name, for His sake and the souls of our husbands. Peace by with YOu!

    This story is very encouraging, even though your husband has not yet taken that step. My story is slightly different, but I’ve come to the same realization. My husband claims to believe, and I’m sure he does, but he’s trapped in spiritual bondage to addiction which is not allowing him to grow in the Lord.
    He’s trapped in the lies of addiction, and I fought and fought trying to get him to quit what he was doing. We finally reached a culmination point a few days ago. The way things were going couldn’t continue, our lives were miserable and no one was benefiting from what was going on.
    I was down on my knees praying desperately, crying my eyes out because I knew something had to be done and we couldn’t continue living the way we were. How could I find peace with my husband and yet not be party to his addiction. I love him desperately and wanted to make things work so much it hurt.
    I knew that my husband was in bondage to the Spirit of addiction but nothing I said to him seemed to make a difference and the battles were just getting more intense between him and me. I found a “help” prayer in a book I owned, and I prayed it, and at the end I just continued praying, crying, with agony filling my soul.
    I started to pray about the story of Peter and the sword in the garden the night Jesus was arrested. I can’t remember exactly why, I think it was because I was feeling the fear that he felt when the Lord told him to put away the sword. As soon as the words “put away the sword” entered my mouth, I knew that the words had come from the Lord as much to me as the day he spoke them to Peter…and then how he told Peter that he could pray to the Father and have him send 12000 angels to rescue him.
    I finally understood. I had been going about this all wrong. I was fighting against my husband, when the battle isn’t really against him and the battle isn’t ours. It belongs to the Lord and I knew I had to take it to the Lord solely and totally. We don’t fight against flesh and blood. The enemy wants to destroy what God has joined together. He wants to enter the family unit and destroy it because marriage represents the relationship between us and God.
    I was aware of spiritual warfare, and the spirit world, but I spent soo much time battling my husband that I lost sight of where the battle truly is. I realized that I must put on the armour of God and enter into the spiritual battle field, and pray for him. Pray for his freedom, and stand in the gap for him so that he can be freed from the lies that have claimed him since he was a teenager.
    I will be fasting for him, and praying for him because I know the Lord is mighty, powerful and able. He’s defeated the spiritual darkness of this world already and he wants us to stand up and take authority in his name against it. We have every right to pray for our spouse and take the battle to where it belongs so that in your house you might have peace.
    Remember your battle isn’t against your spouse, God wants us to live in peace with them. Take it to the Lord.

    Patricia,
    The longer I work in ministry this beast of addiction rises up to break so
    many people, and many marriages. I am so impressed by your story and how you
    are now praying for your husband. I absolutely believe God can break any
    addictions. Your prayers are so important. I also want you to see what kind
    of support you can get through Focus on the Family. They have materials that
    can help you to cope and to put down boundaries with addictions.
    I'm praying. Lord, this very hour, prepare the way to freedom from
    Patricia's husband, for their marriage. Proclaim freedom for the captives
    and bind the enemy who is using this addiction. Free him from the craving
    and heal his soul. In Jesus name. Amen.

    Dear Lynn,
    May God continue to bless the work of your hands.
    My husband and I were married last month so we are still newlyweds. He is a lovely guy and he treats me very well. The only problem is that he is an unbeliever. I have been praying for him to be set free from the grip of the enemy and for every deception and lie to be made visible to him and every other warfare prayer I know.
    At Easter last year my husband said that he had been saved and I was so happy. He started going to church with me and I felt so blessed. It wasn’t long before I realised that something was wrong. He didn’t have the joy of a new believer and became extremely argumentative and accusatory. He would find the most obscure verses of the Bible to interrogate me about and would give me a hard time if I couldn’t answer him. He also started questioning everything I said and everything I did. He became someone I didn’t know or want to be around. I called off our engagement but he managed to persuade me that we could still be happy being unequally yoked…
    It is so frustrating to watch this man who is so cheerful, thoughtful, considerate and loving change when salvation, the Bible and Jesus are mentioned. The spirit blocking his salvation is very tightly holding on to my husband. It asks the most ridiculous questions and raises stupid objections through him. I asked God to show me the root of the problem and it appears to be that my husband is terrified of God – not godly fear but real terror so I am praying for the spirit of fear to leave him.
    My husband was baptised at 14 but it appears from what he has told me that he never had a heart conversion and that he was very ‘religious’and legalistic, placing a lot of emphasis on ‘following the rules’. He became disillusioned when he saw that people in his church were not ‘following the rules’ perfectly.
    He is now at a stage where he does understand why other religions are not valid and thinks that all paths lead to the ‘higher being’. I’m praying for the love of God to be shed abroad in my heart so that I can love my husband perfectly in spite of his unbelief. I’m going through a horrible time at work. I work on an all female team and I am not part of the clique. I have been reprted to management for ‘talking about God all the time’. The stress I go through every day is at times unbearable. I long for my husband to hold me in his big, strong arms and pray the word of God over me or just to encourage me in the Lord.
    As ridiculous as it sounds, I truly believe my husband and I are meant to be in some kind of ministry together. In every other way he is the man I prayed for so it saddens me that spiritually we do not have fellowship.
    I feel very alone in my marriage right now but I know my redeemer lives and that He is no respecter of persons. If our gracious God has set other women’s husband’s free from the bondage of unbelief then surely He will do it for mine. I decree and declare my husband’s liberty and thank God for it in the name of Jesus.

    Oh My Sweet Friend,
    Do I ever know how you feel. I have lived right where you are. It's so
    painful and lonely. I'm wondering if you can get a copy of Winning Him
    Without Words. I pray that in those pages you can find peace and a path
    through this wilderness time. So much of what you are describing, we have
    live and wasted too much time there. God want you to experience peace and
    joy. It is possible. With God ALL THINGS are possible. Push into Jesus
    surrender your spouse to Him. Don't try to answer all of you husband's
    questions. It is likely he really doesn't want real answers. He is trying to

    Hi Lynne , My ex husband is an unbeliever he filed for divorce in december 2011 and it was final march 2012. I would like to pray for God to save him and restore our marriage. I want my husband to come back home as I know that divorce is against what God wills for our lives.
    Please pray with me that the enemy will release his hold over my husband and he will come back to me. I pray that he will have an encounter with the Holy Spirit and that he will start believing in Jesus. He is also no talking and dating a woman.
    I have faith that the enemy has already been defeated. Please pray that the spirit of pride in my husband is removed and he will accept that Jesus is Lord and come back for me.I am trusting in God because I know that he will bring my husband back soon. Ask God to strengthen me until then.

    Thank you for your blog. I came across it tonight and was encouraged that I am not alone. I admit that I have become weary that anything will change my husband’s lack of faith. I want to make a difference but I don’t know how. I have prayed for him but maybe I am doing it wrong or not enough. I just don’t see it making a difference. We have two young children and I don’t want to end our marriage but feel guilty for loving him so much when he doesn’t know God as his Savior and seems so stuck in his ways. I desperately want to believe things can be different.

    I was once right were you were and God changed everything. Can you get a
    hold of our book Winning Him Without Words. I promise you I'm not trying to
    sell books but there are real and practical things in there that can
    absolutely make a difference.
    God is all about changing marriages but He always starts with the believer.
    Darn it. Spend time with God turn your hurts over to him, pray and keep

    Lynne, Thank you for sharing. We will be married 39 years in November, but lots of that time I felt more like a room mate. My husband and I went through counciling in the mid 90’s and we both came to Christ and were baptized. About 2 1/2 years ago my husband’s job started to dissapate, he had his own business. Things were hard, he retreats from conflict, doesn’t want to talk, very proud. I have been the bread winner through our entire marriage and had stepped down from a high paying job a few years earlier because of the stress on our marriage and his prompting. Now with limited resources, his business waning, he needed to seek employment. He thought he had landed a great job, it looked promising, only to find out they hired someone else. He went balistic and said if this is How God works he could do better on his own. Since that day his eyes hold a darkness that I have never seen in him before.. they used to shine. He pulled away from the day physically and mentally. I tried many times to bring him back. This past spring he started acting strange. Really caring about his looks, he smokes, he starting carrying breath mints, learned how to text… Something was up. I went on a missions trip and when I got back everything broke loose and he admitted he had had an affair, he wanted to reconcile and repair our marriage. I prayed for a forgiving heart and we started to mend, that lasted a week. He has gone back to his old ways and is pulling farther and farther away. I have shared our story with strong prayer warriors who are praying for him. Your message encouraged me, as I know this battle is for his soul. 2Pet3:9.     yourself with people who will support you and love you. Get into a women's
    Bible study and talk with a pastor about how to cope. You know what I know
    that the praying is intense and that hell is after strife and destruction.

    and window around your home with their swords drawn. I'm praying for God's

    I’ve will have been married for 3 years November 21. When I met him it was in church and I was taken in by the way I saw him worshiping the Lord. The Lord showed him to me in a vision. It was at that time I asked God that if it were to be, then do what He had to to make it happen. Well we officially met by the introduction of his pastor, and a year later and we were married. He professes salvation, and is a minister. However, the last almost three years have been HELL. I have suffered physical abuse of which I was in therapy 2 months this year for a bulging disc in my back and emotional abuse. I have been called so many names that no woman should ever have to hear coming from her husband. And a couple of times this happened in front of his kids (he and I have no children together). His outbursts of anger and disrespect to me, my parents, and even people in church have made me question whether he really is saved. There are times that I can see the devil stand up in him so strong. And I also see when the devil withdraws. When Satan is at work, he was angry, couldn’t stand to be around me, he called me names, and had to call anyone he could think of from church pastors to his brother to tell them about what he did not like that I did. Now mind you, I have discovered that anytime I do not agree with him or if I choose to do something a bit differently from what he wants, that’s when he gets angry. I strive to do what is right, but I don’t want him to continue to be verbally and emotionally abusive to me either so I strive to keep him from mistreating me and still live the life for Christ. The strangest thing about it is I see the spiritual warfare that I am up against. I see when the devil is present in him. And when it is not. When it is not, he is the sweetest man. He is that man that I fell in love with. But I have to be on guard because the devil has taken any occasion to stand up in him at any given time. And when that happened, he did not care who is in the line of fire. He has walked out on me several times. Only to come back. But the enemy still tries to attack. My mother says, I have to be willing to let him go so that God can work with him. Not to try to hold on to him so tight. But at the same time, I feel like if God showed me this man, I waited 35 years to marry and was a virgin when I did, had the wedding I always dreamed of, found the wedding dress I wanted and was able to wear it right off the rack with no alterations. How am I to just let it go. All at the same time I feel ashamed to even admit the things he has done to me and the abuse I have taken. Most women probably would have walked out long time ago. His other two wives did just that. I see the devil when he stands up in him. It is at those time he will say things and after its over, he won’t even remember that he said them. Then he will call you a liar if you tell him otherwise. So when I noticed this happening and he would not even remember the hurtful and mean things he said to me, I knew I was dealing with demonic forces at work. I feel that I should have power over these attacks of the enemy, but I’m not 100% sure how. I know I have the power to tread upon serpents and bind the enemy. But even in all that I have done, even speaking directly to the devil when my husband is under it’s control, it has not yielded success. I pray, I fast, I pray, and fast. I see spirits of control, pride, jealousy, envy that have my husband under it’s control. What do I do? I feel that I am doing something wrong and that is why I am not getting the results I know I should have. I know that God has given us power over the attacks of the enemy, but what do I do when I’m not sure how to use it?

    separated for a time so that your husband will seek healing. With everything

    Hi Lynn,
    Stumbling upon your blog is God’s definition of divine timing for everything. I have been married for 7 years to a Hindu husband and I too face a spiritual battle for being yoked unequally with an unbeliever.
    Today is my first day of prayer and fasting which I intend to do for a certain period of time so breakthroughs will happen in my life.
    I married my husband out of loneliness and need to be loved given as I was in a bad state when I met him. I know that what I have done was not rightful in the eyes of God and I fully repent for whatever sins I have done against Him.
    God has blessed us with two wonderful children. My husband is a fantastic father to our children but a terrible husband to me. I know that deep inside him is a spirit or probably spirits that detest my faith in the Lord Jesus. I do know though that by the blood of our Lord and Saviour, I will win this battle. My husband for some reason is a very nice guy to others except me. Whenever we’re together and I open my mouth to talk to him, his reply is always as if he’s ready to battle with me. He’s very sarcastic, grumpy and calls me degrading names. Physically we are not very intimate as apparently, I have put on so much weight and the attraction is gone. He also makes my life hard by abusing me verbally and forcing me to change my workplace and shifts as apparently, I ruin his weekends. You see, I work an hour away from our home every weekend for two nights as my daughter goes to preschool and my son is only 19 months old. My husband does office hours on weekdays which I personally think is a very good schedule for us given that we do not have any other relatives close by to help with babysitting. Another factor is my daughter is going to primary school next year and if I move closer and do office hours on weekdays, then I would have problems with babysitting every school term breaks and summer holidays. Married life is not the way I have imagined myself to be into. I used to like a christian man a lot in the past and he liked me too. I sometimes feel like I should have married this other guy instead of my husband. However, I try my best not to think of this as I know that it’s the enemy’s way of trying to destroy me.
    The spiritual battle I am in is huge. I am alone in this but I know that the Lord is in front of me as my shield. I feel so blessed because although my husband is not a christian, my daughter who’s only 5 has a tremendous faith in the Lord. The Lord has provided me a spiritual buddy and hopefully in the years to come, my todder son will join in so that we can pray for my husband’s salvation. My in-laws are all unbelievers and my husband plans to invite his parents to live with us. Please all you ladies who are reading this, pray that they will never live with us. His parents are fanatics and I do not want any of their influences on my children or husband at all.
    I know that in Christ’s own divine timing, He will set my husband free. I know inside me, I just know. I pray that all you sisters in Christ will have the strength and wisdom form the Holy Spirit so that you will know what to do in very difficult times. I also pray that the Lord will throw His mantle of protection not just on your family but wherever you go so that you will always be safe and spiritually close to the Lord.

    I have been looking at ways to pray for my husband and marriage. I found your blog and immediately found a prayer. I need help and support. My husband of 15 years left me 5 months ago only saying that he was unhappy and felt as though this chapter of his life was over. He still says that he loves me and we spend some time together, not as much as we used to. I have been a born again, spirit filled believer since I was very young. As a child he was a believer as well. He has not walked with the Lord in many, many years. I miss him more than I can even explain. I feel as though part of me is missing. I pray to God every day that he come home. I believe that he will come home, but I know that God is doing a mighty work in my husband right now. He has not asked for a divorce or even filed for a separation. Help me to know what to pray for his return and salvation. My heart is broken and I am hurting.

    Hello Lynn,
    I do appreciate your blog very much. But i would like you to allow me to challenge each one of the women who seems really frustrated in their marriage with the unbeliever. The bible tells us clearly that the only best way to win the husband is by our Christ like actions towards them, not by evangelizing or preaching to them at all.
    The more we do not look at them as non believers the more we are able to appreciate them fully and love them back unconditionally. Unfortunately most of us need to be delivered from female pride especially where matters concerning God are created. Man still remains the head regardless of anything.
    I am glad to hear you asked for permission from your husband before embarking on this blog, but how many of the ladies who are writing make their husband a priority.How many obeys to them in all ways, how many treats him as they would like to be treated.
    As much as we know the devil exist let us not forget our own issues, and our own responsibilities in regard to be the best help meets God created us to be in our husbands life.
    I am married to unbelieving man and he is one of the most sweet people i have known since when i stopped just praying about him but about me too for i realized i also needed changes too. I looked extensively to the bible and what it says about marriage and i am enjoying every minute.

    Just reading now and totally grasp the content Lynn. I moved into the spare bedroom one night because of my husband’s snoring to get much needed sleep. I awoke just as you did one a few nights in that room. My eyes just shot open while in deep sleep? I sensed I wasn’t alone in the room and it really freaked me out. The “presence” was NOT good. As I sat at the computer one day I “felt” like someone/something just walked into the room behind. The feeling was so strong I actually spun around to look. Through these occurrences I am so glad I knew to rebuke satan and call on Jesus, my strong deliverer.

    Love what you’ve shared here Lucy. Exactly what God has impressed on my heart the past few months. The word “leader” has convicted me to do just that. Walk ahead displaying Christ in me so David will desire the same. So a curiosity will rise up to seek God for himself. Preaching at people only turns them away. My husband is a sweet soul and portrays Christlike qualities at times that so encourage me to keep praying for those chains that have him in strongholds. The closer I get to God the more exciting life gets but the battles have to be recognized and dealt with.

    I am fighting for the man i love. He has some lustful evil spirit around him or inside him that makes him act and do certain things which just breaks my heart. I have been praying and binding all evil forces for almost 2 years now. i do not know if im on the right path and what steps i should take. i love this guy and i know he doesnt mean to do things to hurt me but sometimes i just feel so overwhelmed. We are not even married yet but i know i will never marry him unless he accepts Jesus. I also know that it was God who lead him to me and i cant bear leaving him… Any advice?

    Hi, I don’t know why i’m doing this. I just was thinking about my husband. Glad to have seen this page. I have been asking God to help me. I’ve been through so much with my husband of 4 years, I don’t want to talk about it. Demonic forces, yes. The day we got married I got sick, standing in front of the judge. I couldn’t shake this thing, so I knew it was not a regular sickness. I had taken everything, and couldn’t get better. I called my parent’s over, which are saved, and they prayed. Immediately, I was healed. We did not consummate our marriage till a week later. The day we got married I noticed my husband, got quiet, and stayed in the other room. I wrote a poem sitting on the floor, the day we got married, on how I was supposed to be happy on my wedding day, but was unhappy. My husband that week told me all I wanted to do was watch tv, be sick. He called me a fat, bald-headed, b…. the same week. He didn’t talk like that to me before. I would get on the side of the bed at night, and pray. He started saying I was sprinkling white powder on him while, he was sleeping. Then he started asking was I poisoning his food. Wouldn’t eat or drink what I gave him. He started saying he wanted out of the marriage. I came home one day, and he was hiding under the bed. He knew I had been consulting with others about his behavior so he wanted to know what I was telling them. Many strange things, from drawing eyes on the wall while I was sleeping, saying they were watchn me. When I got pregnant with my son, One night he woke me up saying he was having a heartattack, he’s 32. He say he sinned against God, by marrying me and getting me pregnant. He began kicking his legs, and hitting the bed, crying at the same time. I started pleading the blood of Jesus. I told him to call Jesus, but he just wouldn’t do it. 95% of my marriage has been unhappy. Seperated so many times, I can’t even count, he’s gone now. Applied for divorce a couple of months after we got married but withdrew bc someone reitterated that’s not what God wants.This man has spit in my face before,told me he hated me while I was in hospital after having baby,visit and pull other women over in my car.Has had no respect for me in our marriage, and still doesn’t. I have to admit we were shacking up before we got married. I let the Devil in and he came in at full force. This man has denied since the day we got married, that he ever asked me to marry him. I can’t keep going on, bc I’ll bore the viewers but I know it’s tough. My husband will go months without touching me.Tells me I need to do something in my life that will make me proud, practice abstinence for a year. Where is he getting it from? Doesn’t want me to touch him, sometimes I felt he had this nasty spirit, maybe he was sleeping with a man. I’m not sure, but that’s what it felt like. A real nasty spirit. Leave with cousins, and return home at 4am in morning.I can’t do it anymore. If my husband is not going to be married to me, I can’t keep taking my baby, and I through this. He’s comes over and I won’t hear from him for days or weeks.He’s in and out of our lives. I have to do this for me. I know God is not happy with the way I’m being treated. God loves me, and I know it.

    Wow, this is quite a lot going on a definitely something sinister and demonic. I would urge you to set boundaries and get in to see a Christian counselor. There is so much here that you need to work with someone who can love you and pray you through all of this.     I’m going through the same thing. My husband blames me for every thing. He gets angry at ever little thing. He mskes me feel like any woman is better than me. I’m worthless. He parties, never take me or my daugter out for family time. He always have an excuse when i ask for his time except when it comes to friends. He has all the time for them. I’m fighting depression and I’m lonely. His jealousy has caused me to not hang around friends and barely talk to family. He thinks he is better than me and his attitude shows. When I say I’m praying for us and this marriage he laughs and mock me. He sees my misery and he knows I’m depressed. When I cry he doesn’t care. He says more things to belittle me while I’m crying. I’m currently pregnant and I have an 18 mos daughter. I thought I was crazy because I have heard him and see him do disturbing things that’s not normal. I know its an evil spirit and its trying to slowly kill my spirit and joy. I thought I was going crazy because how myhusband acts is not normal. I pray against it but I feel that spirit when he I’d not home and it causes fear. I need prayer for a restored marriage and deliverance for the evil spirits that have manifested in my husband…I need strength and the covering of Jesus to get past this mess!

    My ex husband divorce in march and I am believing God to restore my marriage . there is a woman that came into this life and now there is just so much hatred in him towards me last night he told me never to speak to him in life again and in the last week when we speak he would curse me and we have 10 year old kid my kid is hurting very much and so am i. I am feeling very hurt and would like to pray for God to help and have his way in this situation to bring peace and unforgivness SAVE my husband and restore is love for me and also remove this person from his life if he have to.     Lynn, I enjoyed your article on your marriage. I have been married for 27 yrs and I am a believer but my husband isn’t. Both my children are in their 20’s and serve the Lord. However, 5 yrs ago my husband told me he does not love me anymore. I would be lying to you if I said it is easy. We still live in the same home but he has emotionally shut me out.I told him I made a covenant with him, and God and I am committed to our marriage. There is not enough room here to write all that I would like to. I decide each day to love him and be a wife to him. I do not talk God to him at all. Only if he asks me something. Would you stand in prayer for us. Thank you for all that you ave shared and the encouragement it brings.

    I know this was posted awhile back, but I am new here and just read this. I just wanted to say, Brenda, that makes complete sense to me! I also have to fight being depressed about my SUM, and having a pity party. A lot of times it’s harder after I have been, by God’s grace, loving my husband unconditionally. Like you said, because of the effort it takes. It’s so hard sometimes. But I’ve learned I can resist this temptation, I can choose to not fall into feeling sorry for myself. Because Christ is my strength.
    I think you are right and we are under more attack than our husbands. Our husband’s aren’t fight against the flesh like we are, they give into it. So the Devil has nothing to worry about. He can just sit back and let them glide along, fulfilling the desires of the flesh. But we are at battle, constantly. The Devil is trying to trip us up, cause us to stumble, get us to fall.”For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age,[a] against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places.” Eph. 6:12 That’s why we have to “put on the whole armor of God, so you can take a stand against the Devil’s schemes.” Eph. 6:11

    I googled “prayers for unbelieving husband” and this site is the first one on the list. Thank you for posting this, I am so blessed and encouraged by your words. I am amazed at how many women who are going through this but are able to encourage others. Thanks for letting me know that I am not alone in this journey.
    We have only been married for 2 1/2 years and have a 10 months old boy. My husband and I grew up Christians, but when his dad and his best friend passed away, he started questioning God and his faith in Him. Few months ago he told me that basically he doesn’t believe God exists anymore. I am just starting this journey and to be honest I have thought of leaving him but testimonies like you have here is what kept me going. I will be praying for all of you and please pray for me too!

    Me and my husband have been married almost 6 years and through it my husband lived as a Christian. It is only recently that he now believes it to be a lie. He is very logical and analytical. He feels he has experienced none of what the bible says God does if you seek God. He feels that everything he has done thus far has been of his own strength and he can no longer take the burden. I am still believing regardless of his desperate attempt to open my eyes to all the holes in the bible and the possibility of every “miracle” to those around us being psychological. He feels that we are incompatible and since God is not going to reveal Himself, because He isn’t real, than it is his responsibility to disprove God to me and save our marriage. Otherwise we will both be unhappy. Basically, I denounce everything I believe in and live without God, or we have to divorce. It is really hard and I am praying for him, but I am starting to get upset with God. He is already there, stating that even if God where to show up now, he would hate him for waiting until he stopped seeking and could take no more, rather than be present in him now as Gods word says. Why would he not make himself available if we are seeking? Where is He in this and why do we feel abandoned. Why let him fall away when he would lead both of us to follow Christ and do everything we can for his kingdom? I just don’t know how much I can take. I love my husband, I love God, but right now my husband is the only one taking the time to let me know he cares, even if it is in his own way.

    My husband walked out on our 9 year marriage 5 months ago and I have been praying ever since that he comes back to me. He has such anger and hatred in his heart but refuses to tell me what I have done. He left for work one night kissed me said I love you and never came back home. He says he wants to do what he wants when he wants and I do know I was controlling and jealous. There is a big age difference between us me being the older of us and I have been dealing with breast cancer and the effects of chemo and al the surgeries for the past 3 years I know it has taken a toll on the marriage.Now he has a woman that he’s met closer to his age and has a child something he said he didn’t want. He says they are just friends but I see the writing on the wall. When this first happened my husband refused to talk to me we had little to no communication with each other. I ended up getting evicted from the house we rented as I had no income. Since then My husband has been giving me money and we just had a hearing just to establish alimony. It was the first time we saw each other in 6 weeks and I could tell it was upsetting to him. We have not had more than a 5 min conversation in person since he left and then it has been with others around. I wont call him or text him because when this first happened I did all the calling, texting writing of emails begging and pleading with him and I know this just pushed him further away. Here lately he has been texting me a lot. He has asked about the people I hand around and because I wont tell him he has assumed its another man that he knows and has acted very jelouse. It ends up with us fighting because he doent believe an thing I tell him. I have said several times that I didn’t want to talk because of this and he always says please don’t say goodbye yet he will not put down the wall to talk about us and if there is a chance I am so confused by his behavior I just dont know what to make of it. It I love my husband and I want nothing more than for God to reach down and touch his heart and to let me back in to pull the devil that is in him out as he is drinking and doing things he never did before. I was his everything for so long and there is no way this girl will ever understand him as I do but the situation seems impossible right now. I don’t eat much and have lost over 70 pounds I cannot get through a day or night without crying. I pray that god will restore our marriage and send him back to me. Not to the marriage we had but to a new healthier one. One that god and church are a part of. I know what the bible says about divorce but Brian is a non believer or I should say knows nothing about the Lord or Bible. I see this as a chance to minister to him and get both of us in church were we belong.I am not ready to let Satan win but as mre time goes by it gets harder.
    Please pray for Brian and I and for our marriage. Divorce papers are in the works but I am trying to stand strong and believe that God will heal our marriage as he healed me from cancer.

    Faith our God can and will reveal Himself, we need only seek with a true heart. John 11:40 Jesus said, If you believe then you will see. I ask you to believe first. Press deeply into the Word, you also need to fast and pray. Ask God for a breakthrough and to reveal Himself. Ask for peace and joy and His love to pervade your home and marriage. Are you reading the Bible. It will be your strength and joy in this difficult period.  Jesus is the King and He will move, believe with all of your heart, mind, soul and strength. In King Jesus name.     Hello I just read your story and your battles and you basically described my life. I am in tears right now because I needed to hear this and I know in my soul that it was no one but Jesus who lead me to read this and to give me guidance as to what I should do. I have been struggling with my husband’s demon for a long time and a lot of times I feel like giving up because it hurts so bad, but I know that Jesus wants me to stay and fight in his name.     Hi visit rejoicemarriage ministries website you will be blessed it basically shares on how to stand for a prodigal spouse or children and encourages scriptures and praying , seeking the Lord Jesus the ministry was started by a lady who divorced her husband after marital unfaithfulnes but G-d restored her marriage! She shares her testimony so do other ppl around the world on the website! I love that she doesn’t give you ways to stand or time frame for your spouse to return but she shares scriptures On how to seek , stand and wait for G-d to do his will.

    Dear Lynn,
    I found your website tonight when trying to find spiritual resources to help me. I, too, am married to an unbeliever. My husband and I have been married for 10 years. I have been a believer since I was young, but, was out of church when I met him. I had wise council from Christian friends before we were married who cautioned me against marrying a non-believer. Honestly, I didn’t want to listen to them at the time because I was in a period of questioning about my faith. My husband was good to me while we were dating and I didn’t want to hear what others had to say.
    Fast forward several years and now have two children, ages 4 and 7. When my youngest daughter was about a year and a half I recommitted my life to Christ. In the same time, my husband has become agnostic. He doesn’t hinder me from taking the girls to church, but, he will not go to church himself. In fact, he thinks it is silly. He is an intellectual and sees faith as a crutch.
    Over the past few years he has been emotionally abusive to me, and sometimes to the kids. He is often very disrespectful and says terribly hurtful things. If I cry or try to defend myself, he puts me down. He often yells and throws things. He rarely admits to doing anything wrong, instead blaming me for causing the problem in some way. It seems that I can never do anything right.
    Right now I work 80 hours or more a week, but, still have the same responsibilities at home. He does little to help out around the home. He frequently tells me what I am doing wrong or how I am failing. Whether it be suggestions for losing weight or exercising, advice for managing our home or finances, or my changing my work schedule, what I feed the kids, how I discipline them… he always has feedback for me… how I can fix what he sees to be as wrong through his solutions. He has said on multiple occasions that marital therapy won’t help until I am quote/unquote “fixed.” My husband is a therapist, which makes the message all the more hurtful. So, hearing from your husband, who is a therapist, about how broken you are and how you need to be fixed is terribly painful.
    I can’t begin to share the things that he has done and said through the years… from packing his bags to leave 2 days after the birth of our second child to becoming angry and yelling at me at the top of his lungs on more occasions than I can count, throwing things, cussing at me, and then blaming me for his actions… it has been a very tough few years. My friends and family have all said that I should leave him. They do not understand why I have stayed in the marriage after everything that has happened. Still, I remember the Bible verse that says that a wife married to an unbeliever shouldn’t leave him if he is willing to live with her.
    Most of the time my heart is broken. He can be so, so cruel. I often try to avoid talking because I know that it will cause a fight. Talking to him is very conditional.. always on his terms, when he is ready to hear it. If I try to express how I am feeling he usually gets angry and says that my feelings are my fault. I misinterpreted his actions or words. I can’t control my emotions. I make bad decisions. I can’t control the kids. I don’t know how to manage money. I should listen to him because he knows what he is doing. He is a therapist. All of these things he has said and much, much more.
    The facts are that I work very hard. I have a full time job and teach online classes on the side to help make ends meet, which equates to 80+ hours a week most weeks. My coworkers and boss say they appreciate me and tell me I am doing a good job. I pay our bills on time and have excellent credit. I have good relationships with both of my kids. I am committed to raising my kids in a Christian home. Still, his words are like stakes to my heart. At this point, my self-esteem is very low. I feel broken and afraid. I don’t want to live like this, but, don’t want to leave him either.
    I believe that spiritual warfare is surrounding our family and our home. Specifically, I believe that they are trying to keep my husband from becoming a believer. I also believe that they are trying to keep me from being a witness to him and from being effectual in my spiritual life.
    I pray for my children’s salvation. I worry about them growing up in a home with such distress and seeing the brokenness of our marriage. I have prayed for my husband’s salvation. I know that it is contingent upon his acceptance of Christ in his heart. I am fearful that he may never accept Christ.
    I am embarrassed and ashamed of how he has treated me. I do not want a divorce, but, fear that it may come to this. He has threatened to leave so many times that I have lost count. Every time it has been me that has intervened to try to save it. I do not know for sure that he has been faithful to me (although he says he has been faithful).
    I do not know what to do. I am going to glean everything that I can from this site and from the advice that you and others share. I would appreciate the titles of any books or resources that you have found helpful. I need strength and I am acutely aware that I do not have the strength to get through this on my own. I need God’s help and the support of other Christians who have been through the same thing and came through the experience stronger.

    My friend, please forgive me for not responding earlier. I’m deeply grieved to read about your situation and absolutely heartbroken for you. I’m so sorry.
    Ginger, regardless if your husband is a therapist, what’s happening in the relationship that you’ve described here, it is not right. And because your husband is a therapist, it’s likely he already knows this and is using his knowledge in a way that is not honoring to you, your marriage and ultimately to have as well.
    My friend, boundaries have been broken in your relationship that absolutely need to be restored. I would immediately ask you to find a Christian counselor, and get counseling right now- you alone. What is happening in your home is so destructive. It’s destructive to you and your children. I realize that you don’t want to divorce and I understand your reason why. But my friend there’s many things that you need to get fixed in this relationship.
    I will pray for you. I’m praying God’s power and his love upon your home upon you upon your children even upon your husband. I’m praying for you to have Joshua courage. Don’t wait one more day to take a step of action to find God’s healing for your heart, your home, your kids, marriage, your life.
    Jesus, I ask that you would rise up in great courage and pressed into this home. Love on Ginger and give her courage to take the steps to find healing for herself her family and her marriage. I release the Holy Spirit into this home I find the spirit of deception of anger spirit of education and the narcissistic spirit in Jesus name. Lord, fill Ginger up with great wisdom and stir in her of purpose to take steps today. In Jesus name,

    I believe the Holy Spirit led me to your blog. I have read the posts here and I see myself in some of the experiences. I married my husband after the Lord spoke to both of us. We have been married for almost 3 years but due to occultism in my husband’s family, I began to face demonic warfare. My hubby’s faith also wavered and he started abusing me emotionally. I have prayed and fasted and even asked men of God to pray for us. One man of God came to our home and found witchcraft charms in the house which were burnt. We live with my sis in law who inherited witchcraft from her mother and she has been using this to try and break up my marriage. Please, I would like to get in touch with you on email. God bless.

    My husband has put me through alot. There’s just too much to write here. Basically he lied to me for pretty much throughout our marriage about anything and everything. He forged documents, he almost went to jail for embezzling money from work, we were homeless twice, he’s threatened to hurt my family before and done very evil stuff. The thing I don’t understand is he was a youth pastor and knows ALOT about the bible but yet EVERYTHING he says and does is contradictory to the bible. Am I married to an unbeliever or I’m not really sure what’s going on. I just really need prayers as I have seen some demonic activity with him before. I would really like for him to come to know Christ, to read and thirst for his word and to live like the bible wants you to live. The sad part is he’s teaching my kids how to be ungodly. Thank you to those that read this.

    WOW! And I thought I was all alone in this.That to is one of the enemies lies. I’ve read everything on this site and can feel & hear the hearts of many women. I too have an unbelieving husband. I know that God is bigger & mightier than anything the enemy can throw at us. I just can’t seem to get myself (my heart) to keep hoping for change ONE more time. I’ve given up and I’m trying to hop in that saddle again. God help me is all I can pray. My husbands friends are a huge influence in his life drinking/profanity/ porn etc. He thinks all this has no effect on him or our marriage. Our social life is dividing us as I really don’t want this lifestyle. I know we are to shine the light of Christ with the unbelieving but this is such darkness!! I don’t want to stand around someones garage or mine for 4 hours watching them become drunk and swear a thousand times. His friends/wives/girlfriends have no “use” for me and I can just feel the dislike/hatred at me through them. I do not preach to them or give them the holier than thou attitude. I just express to my husband that is not what I find enjoyable or want to be apart of. Of course I want my mate to walk with me in my love for the Lord but I can’t even see it happen right now. I’m so down. I will get up though I always have. Please pa & how do I pray about the friends? influence they have?

    Wow, this brings tears to my eyes. I wish my husband could see, it almost feels lonely when i’m the believer and he isn’t. I notice many things my husband does that hurts me way more now than it ever did before I was a believer? Why is this? I need strength to continue praying for my husband and myself.

My husband Dennis is not saved and we are going through… The Intamacy and love has left my marriage on top my husband does not give me affection … I can feel that some days are a spiritual battle and I have to always be on guard and pray for him and bind up the spirits … The drinking every night and addictions ..     HI LYNN.
    I have a question about what others may or “may not” think of my marriage. I am of Evangelical Christian denomination, but my husband is not. Though he is not of my Christian faith denomination, he was raised in the Catholic Church as a child, but turned away from Christianity upon entering his college years.
    He is not against me growing more in my faith, and even attends Church with me, and said that when we have children, he would have no qualms about the children learning of GOD, Jesus, and the faith. Even in our marriage, he had no problems that we have our wedding done in the Christian way, with a pastor ordaining our marriage and having pastors pray for our wedding reception feasts.
    He has slowly started to attend Christianity 101 classes to learn more of what my faith is about, but still says that he has a hard time accepting Christianity for himself, even though from what he’s learned and said it is a nice faith to follow and is different from the Catholic Christianity that he grew up with. In his youth, he had dabbled in other occult and eastern asian religions and said that he has ‘set’ himself on a faith of Daoism/taoism, a ying-yang karma type of religion. I am of Eastern culture myself, and understand the Karmaic type of religions, but its hard to accept that he only likes partial parts of a religion that sounds nice or suites one area of belief and disregards the other parts.
    A part of me senses that he wants to open up to Christianity, but i don’t really know how to explain his thinking of “not accepting Christ”. He is a smart intellectual man, very helpful towards people who needs help, and does have high morals and integrity as a person. To many who don’t know him on a personal level, would assume him to be a good Christian man, with his charitable heart and kindness to people who need help and goes to Church on sundays.
    Prior to our marriage, Many family members and other believers have told me that we, as Christians, are not to be unequally yoked with non-believers. I can understand them and their forewarning, had my spouse been the type and told me that i’m not allowed to speak of GOD around him, or go to church or be a believer, but he is not. He has accepted me that i will be a Christian for the rest of my life, and even participated in my faith to a certain extent to show of his support for my faith for me.
    From your experience, what would exactly would my husband be considered? A tolerant Non-Believer? Or a christian in the making, as he seems to have the basic blocks from his up bringing to be a good christian man, but lost direction in his youth as his parents were more liberal at allowing their children to seek a lifestyle of their own liking upon reaching “adulthood”. I would love to have a believing husband, who can help lead my family in the ways of GOD. Instead it is now mainly ME leading, and if we have children one day, will be me who takes the children to church and teach them the bible at home.
    I have prayed for him, tho to be honest, not nearly as much as the other wives for their non-believing husbands above. I don’t know how to pray for him to be a ‘better’ husband to me. As at times, he has more CHRISTIAN-like qualities of a good Husband as a non-believer than many believers that i know. He is a respectful, loving, kind, provider, and protector of me and our future family. The only thing that is “missing” is the fact that he is not a believer in Christ, by confession. Sometimes the way he lives, is very Christ like (as a husband), but he refuses to confess or accept Christ as his savior, or at least to my knowledge. I know i’m by far luckier than most women who are married to non-believing husbands, but how would you further suggest for me, to help my husband understand Christ and opening up to Christianity?
    Sorry for being soo long winded, as i’m not sure how to word my thoughts and feelings properly. I love my husband and his characters and integrity as a man, but the only thing he “lacks” is a relationship with Jesus and being a Child of GOD.

    Hi Lynn. I was so glad to stumble upon your site. I have been getting very disillusioned lately. To be brief as possible, I have a background in witchcraft. I have fully repented of it & have been a Christian for 17 years now. I was a new Christian when I met my husband & it was in my heart to want to lead him to The Lord. He was so open. Other Christian friends also felt led to reach out to him. But it drew me away from the church unfortunately, we lived together & were intimate before marriage. I got pregnant & we got married. God was still convicting me but I wasn’t submitting. Finally one day when our daughter was about 1, God spoke to almost audibly: “You need to choose now whether you will serve me or not.” That was 10 years ago, & I have not looked back since. We both started going to church & he got saved a year later. He was delivered from drugs & served in ministry for 4 years. Sin crept into his life- porn. He tried to reach out for help, but at this tiny church no one had any real answers. I watched his walk with God crumble as God was urging me to find a new church. This one was full of legalism which made me the opposite. I became very self-righteous. But I still had a lot of grace for my husband & wanted to see him get the proper help. I don’t want to say too much, but he fell back into sin, back into drugs, & now refuses to go to church. I have been in an amazing church for 4 years & am growing so much. Lately it has taken a worse turn. He gets very angry. He doesn’t believe in Jesus as the Saviour anymore. He keeps threatening divorce cause we are always fighting. I find it hard to pray at home. One night I dusted off a spiritual warfare book & began to call demons out of my home. That night he came home & was really drunk. He said to me: “You want to cast this demon out of me? Maybe I AM your demon!” He had no idea I read this book!! It’s causing attacks on my faith. I don’t feel strong enough to fight back anymore. Sin had taken over him & so has the enemy. I’m going to use this prayer tonight someone posted on here. Someone at church recommended this. And I’m going to anoint my home with oil. I just feel defeated. How did the demons not overcome you, Lynn? I feel more & more powerless with each passing day. At church I feel so wonderful & victorious. At home I have gotten under a dark cloud. We have young children & I have no joy for them anymore. It really started bad last year after he had a 1 night stand, & he told me that morning after he said he saw the devil in our bedroom. It’s been downhill since. I really need help. I think I need to insist on members of the church to come pray with me. Thank you for posting this. The rest of us know we aren’t alone.

    I just read in the above prayer how other ungodly people around us can be trying to destroy our world. Witches from my past may be calling out spirits against me. Almost 2 years ago a girl from our church fell back into witchcraft that had wanted to go into occult ministry with me. I find my days rather disturbing when I try & reach out to her. (I reach out to her in love). My neighbor seems to mirror this same problem in her home. A fallen away angry husband. The neighbors in between us might possibly be into witchcraft. They drew a large pentagram in front of our house one time as a joke. But they are very cruel & who knows what they are involved in behind closed doors. And you are correct in saying the church shies away from spiritual warfare. That has to change.

    Hi,
    I want to say thank you for Heeding to God’s word and letting God lead you in this amazing direction. At times we end up doing things not really knowing what’s truly going to come from it (years later). Well, God had you experience all this and witness about it through this blog so, I could get this message today-Amen…I am on my second day of fasting and this is the first time ever doing this. I set out thinking I was going to be fasting for other people and being an intercessor for many, but boy was I wrong! God has his own plans for our lives and when we open up(heart, mind & soul) to God he will take full control and lead us..it’s overwhelming. Although I have been praying for people, this fasting has been with a twist nothing I could have imagined.
    Today God reaveled to me that my husband is spiritually blinded and this is the center of the havoc the enemy is creating within our household. I’m having a spiritual warfare between my spirit and the enemy. I let God lead me and I was brought here and God revealed to on a deeper level what’s going on with my husband. WOW! It all makes sense, why I battle with my husband it’s not all the physically world it’s deeper it’s the spirtual world, a spirit that has had control over him. I wrote down your spritual warfare prayer, inwhich I will be doing everday. It’s amazing I reccommend all God’s followers to read the word and start fasting. It’s an amazing revival that breaks bondages and opens you up to tap into God’s frequencey and internet connection. We all need to start fasting from something and for something and start feasting on God’s word. I can’t say just in two days how stronger I am and how God literally leads you you. You will be blown away, and when I seen John 8:32 I knew God was talking directly to me.

    Start fasting, it’s evolutionary and God will show you things and lead you to where you need to go. I have never fasted in my life but, I’m doing a seven day fast and I’m on second day and God is truly opening up my eyes and faith on a deeper level.

    I came across this article when I did a search on spiritual warfare for husband in sin. It is helpful and encouraging. I married my hubby believing he was a committed believer. Now, almost 5 years into marriage, he has turned away from God and is embracing things of the world such as drugs and alcohol. He is not mean or abusive, but it is very troubling and is gradually worsening. We have 2 boys, ages 2 and 4, and I am pregnant. I so long for him to turn back to God and be a godly father for our children. I would cherish your prayers and any thoughts, scripture you may feel led to share.     I would like to ask for your advice. I have been dating the same man for several years now and we are going to be married. He used to believe in God and had a strong relationship with Him, but recently his grandfather died and I believe he is angry at God for this. He has now come to the conclusion that he doesn’t believe in God anymore. According to the Bible, we should not be unequally yoked. But does this apply to my relationship with the love of my life? How do I know that he won’t come back to God eventually? Don’t we all stray at some point in our lives? But at the same time, what if he doesn’t come back to God? I asked myself these questions, and I cannot seem to risk losing him when there’s still hope that he will believe again. Shouldn’t I love him unconditionally? I just don’t know what to do. I don’t want to have a horrible marriage, but at the same time, I just know in my heart that he is the right man for me. It’s not like he is rude to me about my beliefs. I can openly talk to him about a devotion that I read or any of my thoughts on God, and he doesn’t mind at all. He supports my faith, he just refuses to have faith himself. It’s never really caused us any problems in our relationship before, but then again we’re not married yet. So, my question for you is – if you had known before you got married, that you were a believer and your husband wasn’t and you went through all of those problems, would you do it over again? What do you think I should do? I have prayed about this, and I just feel torn between what my heart says and what the Bible says. Please help me

    HI Tyler, I’m sorry I’m a bit behind in my reply. My friend, I can just hear the anguish in your heart over this situation. And all your points about unconditional love are realistic. I can only tell you that after you are married you will find a great disparity over many things. Your world view and his will be different. You will live through a season of loneliness and pain because you cannot discuss freely all that God is doing in your heart.  It also becomes more difficult to navigate this kind of marriage when children arrive. You will struggle with decisions regarding morality and faith for both you and your children. Although Dineen and I have come to a place of peace in our marriages, the path was VERY difficult. God says do not be yoked with an unbeliever for a reason. It’s hard. But can God work through our situations? Of course. Please pray and fast, seeking God’s voice for your life. I’m praying you are given revelation and wisdom to know what to do. In Jesus powerful name. Amen.

    Hey Sis…..Praise God for everything. my Husband and i had a bitter argument last night and we called it “quits” we did the blame game and it went so bitter that we only pointed our negative behavior. he called me names and i said i hate you etc etc. He gave me two weeks to move out i started packing my bags. we had a tele convo this morning and we are going to talk it over tonight. please pray for us and our marriage. I know we both love each other- I know the enemy is holding my unsaved husband. He says that i don’t walk the walk and he was belittling my christian walk – of course am prideful, self righteous and all that…i’m learning too.
    While i’m writing this all i can sense is that it wasn’t my husband or I who was talking but the demons who we allow to influence us were talking through us and hurting us. my husband does not believe in spiritual warfare and he only has a head knowledge of being a christian. Actually it’s hell broken lose in our house right now……my husband is a porn addict….God is God i know He will bring a break through….please pray for us…thx

    I came across your blog and I wanted to know, How do you get past the anger that you feel towards your husband who says such mean and awful things so that you can pray for him?
    I will be married 3 years this August (been with him for 5 yrs = 8 yrs total) to a man who basically says that he got married because of the money. I got married because I thought I loved him.
    I have been a Christian all my life but have recently began to fully rely on Christ for all my needs. Down to the simplest “what to wear today” pray.
    I am hurt, mad, upset and betrayed but don’t want my husband to live the way he has. I know that praying for him will help both of us, I am just not full heartedly there in praying for him.

    JD. Please pray for my marriage because we are unequally yolk and in a spiritual warfare. My husband and I have been married for 27 years and has a grown daughter. He cheated on me twice and I forgave him. However, I suspect he is cheating for the third time but i do not have any proof. He denies it and stated he loves me. He admitted to seeing the hurt and pain we both suffered and stated he would not do it again. If he is cheating, I will not remain in this marriage. I love God and will do whatever he tells me. I have been praying for years that my husband and I become as one and that he seeks salvation. So glad I found you. I will be saying the same prayer at night over my husband. Thanks JD

    I just found this site, via a book which was discussed on Moody Radio, couple of weeks ago.
    I’m thinking my situation is slightly different, because my husband considers himself to be a Christian, even though he clearly is not saved.
    He has a lot of anger issues, and can be violent as well as verbally abusive. I’ve ended up in the ER, and a lot of things in our home get thrown and broken.
    And yet he considers himself to be a Christian, and lectures me constantly about how bad a Christian I am, while insulting me, and cussing and throwing things at me at the same time.
    Any conversation with him shows me that he does not seek God’s will, and does not see the need to do so. He has no peace and no humility, and its like a spiritual oppression, its impossible to pray when he is at home.
    I can only have a quiet time with the Lord when he is out.
    He has told me to leave many times, and I’m now living in the spare room, its just quieter and easier to stay out of his way. I clean the house, do laundry and leave him meals in the fridge, but stay out of his way.
    But as a believer I cannot leave the marriage.
    My pastor says to leave the home for a ‘season’, and leave him to find the Lord, maybe with support from men at the church. But I fear that this move to make him accountable and humble will not work, but only make him worse.
    My husband wants nothing to do with the church, other than showing up Sundays. He avoids Bible study groups, prayer groups, giving, and serving, and just want to hear a good sermon and go away again. He will not accept the church being part of his life outside of Sunday mornings.
    Its difficult to know how to pray for the salvation of someone who already considers themselves to be Christian.
    Fellowship is difficult as I cannot have friends from church round, in case he gets mad and violent. I would also love to be able to foster children, (I’m an empty nester), but again, it would not be safe to have children here, especially if they have already gone through the trauma of going into foster care already.
    I have no purpose living like this, and cannot see how to serve the Lord in such a difficult situation.
    I would like to do short term mission, but he says that if I go, he will not let me back. So that means I would be leaving the marriage.
    I just wish I could see God’s hand on this situation. I know He has a purpose and I know I want to do His will, but I cannot find Him in all this.

    My Sweet Haley, I will tell you that I became alarmed as I read through this. Indeed, all you are describing is indicative of abuse. At the very least your husband has crossed boundaries that should not have been broken. Without knowing all of the details of course, I would likely side with your Pastor. Sometimes a separation allows both parties to see more clearly. It’s stops abuse and it also brings into light areas of healing and change that are needed in each person. I pray you can ask your Pastor for advice on how to feel safe if you must make this move. I pray right now in Jesus name that you find courage to set boundaries. That you feel the love of God around you. That Jesus stands with you and protects you and that you find the life God intended for you. In Jesus name. Amen.

    I was blessed to have a beautiful spiritual sister that loves me dearly and forward me your page. As soon as I read it ,I couldn’t believe I wasn’t alone . The only thing is that my husband says he believe In Jesus but doesn’t believe in the bible ,he even goes to church and then comes home to call my pastors liars and the bible a false book. I don’t know if you ever heard of the Encounter, But to sum it up the encounter changed my life. By going to one I found out who I truly was in Christ. I now can say that I’m not a fan of Christ but a follower of Christ.Well for some reason my husband is likes one of my pastor the male one and since my pastor invited him to a 3 day encounter he said he will go. This week is the Encounter and he has been behaving weird ,(he has been very mean,saying things like I need to stop bothering god and depending on god for everything , that he will never depend on god cause he isn’t weak and he is to young to give god his life). Out of nowhere he has been saying these things. The encounter is this Friday and I guess the enemy is pissed and he is really trying hard to keep my husband from going but like you Lynn I plead the Blood of Christ over my husband every night. I know my husband has a huge calling over his life that why the enemy doesn’t want him to know who he is in Christ.
    Thank you Lynn your story was confirmation for me . Thank you father because of you and your strengthen Lynn and I can stand strong on your foundation with the armor you provider for us and be the prayer warriors you have created for our husbands.

    I have been praying and crying asking the Lord for help when I saw this page. I know the internet is not the place to seek his counsel and that scripture is our source but God can use anything, can’t He? I am a believer and have been baptised but never really had experience or understood the powers of evil until recently. I am so confused. I have been married 20 years and have two sons/ two stepchildren – the youngest leaves for college this year. I have had cancer two times…breast in 2006 and uterine in 2009 with a low chance of survival. Thank God for his mercy and goodness. I am at this time cancer-free. I still struggle with fatigue. My husband attends worship services with me, always came home at night, and provided for our family. He has done many things though thru the years that have hurt me and with the help of a counselor and friend, I have recognized it as abuse. He looks down on me, resents that he has had to work to take care of me and the kids while I have been a stay at home mom. In the past,I have discovered him on porn sites and he takes pictures of him at sport event every chance he gets with young woman in scanty clothes even though he knows it hurts me and isn’t what a godly husband would do. We have fought over it and he resentfully has stopped as far as I know. He also has choked me twice.. once when I warned him first, then slapped him for continually calling me a bad name. The second time we were fighting over children and I said if he did not do something I would. He pinned me against sink and when I pushed him away, he choked me until I cried sorry and to be let ago. I didn’t leave because I wanted to be right with God and obey Him. I also could not trust him to have the kids on weekends as he does a lot of foolish things and disregards safety as well as loses his temper. When I had cancer, I realized at that time because of some of his bad behavior that he really does not care for me and has been hurtful to me throughout our marriage. He threw my medication on the floor and cursed at me (he says he is sorry and was just tired) and said I was like an old grandma and he was sick of me laying around all the time and reading the bible. It felt like something for me in him died. Since that time, I went to christian counseling and she has helped me realize that things cannot continue and God does not expect me to submit to a husband treating me that way. Also, there have been strange things going on that I do not imagine. My son woke up with scratches on his arms and legs a few times but I attributed it to not noticing it the day before or him scratching himself at night. My other son heard laughter in the bathroom. One night I dreamed/ half awake… I don’t know how to explain what was going on but I kept waking up and felt like a dark image was hovering over me and trying to possess me. I prayed and spoke outloud scripture and finally after several times, it went away and I could sleep peacefully. The next morning, my son said, “I dreamed a demon was trying to possess us all and it got Jesse (my son with the scratches) and me and you had to move away.” The hair on my neck stood up. I had not mentioned my experience to anyone lest they think I was losing my mind. After that, other things have happened… a tv turned on by itself and the volume steadily rising, a door closing on it’s own, and the scariest thing.. I thought my dog was in the room with me while lying down because I heard snuffling/snorting/kind of growls but when I flipped light on he was not. I ran downstairs so scared but my husband scoffs at me. My husband has always been overtly sexual but since my surgery with radical hysterectomy and because of my hurt feelings, I cannot stand it. After I found he had given a woman on FB his phone number and told her to call him, I could not trust him. He is furious. He masturbates often and in front of me, accuses me of being ungodly because I withhold from him, and says I am causing the break up of our marriage.A friend of mine says that he is likely oppressed by an evil spirit. I don’t know what to believe and I don’t know what to do. I have been praying constantly, asking for forgiveness for my sins and for protection, wisdom, and strength to do what is right. I’ve also been reading all I can on spiritual warfare. I’ve been living in same house but basically separated, while trying to know wait on the Lord and figure out what to do. Lately, a man that I know from acquantance.. he is a christian and counselor… and I have become good friends. He encourages me that I am not called to live in situations like this and also believes there is something evil about my husband. He says I am codependent. All I know is that I am sick with confusion. I love the Lord and owe him so much. I want to be obedient to him. My husband says I have changed and that I am causing all the problems but I think most of them are because I have made stands and refuse to tolerate the verbal and emotional abuse anymore. He is not all bad though. He will pray at meals but will never pray with me when sick or scared, etc. He will not read the bible or listen to any lessons with me. He drinks wine or beer nightly in order to sleep. He is driven sexually and says he can’t love someone who will not meet his needs physically. He will not go to counseling unless it is at the church that promotes husbands being head and women being submissive in ALL things. In other words, to him that means he can buy motorcycles while I drive an old rundown car and I am to go along with it. I don’t know what is up or down anymore. I am so lost and confused all the time, I can barely function. I know that God is not the author of confusion and with all the things that have occurred, I know something is wrong. Please forgive me for writing such a long and rambling letter. I just need all the prayers and help I can get. Please pray for me and give me advice if you can. Thank you so very much.

    Hi Yvette, My friend, I read this and just felt the fear and stricken in my spirit for you. Yvette, you have reached out to me and it’s likely that God has answered your prayers to clear some of the confusion you have been drowning in. Let me be absolutely clear here…. God does not want any of His children to be in an abusive marriage. LISTEN TO YOUR CHRISTIAN COUNSELOR. Take steps immediately to separate yourself and find safety and healing.  I believe in marriage but what you are describing is not marriage. It’s control with fear and manipulation. Reach out to your counselor to get information on how to protect yourself and get to a safe place to live. Pour yourself into the arms of Jesus and let Him bring healing. Start to speak aloud the scriptures into your home and command the demons to leave your home and children in Jesus name. Lord, this hour let this sweet daughter of yours stand up in supernatural courage to get herself removed from this situation. Send angels now to guard her and her home and children. Lord, move in her husband’s life to create an awareness of his depravity and need to a savior, Jesus. In the powerful name of Jesus. Amen.

    Hello Lyn,
    I have been married to a severe narcisist for 5 years now. Since the day I moved in it has been a nightmare for myself and my two children. I feel it’s now on my part an addiction. Theres so much confusion. In my marriage there has been physical, emotional, financial and spiritual and tons of verbal abuse. My husband has cheated lied and abused my two children from a previous marriage verbally. They want nothing to do with me or him. I’m losing my daughter altogether now because she can’t handle being near me and she feels I’ve chosen him over her. He is currently in domestic violence classes for 1 year and DUI classesas as well.
    The physical abuse is continuing and he is oblivious to it and me. I am spiritulally confused on what and where to turn. I am currently reading The Bait of Satan by John Bevere and its helping me with all the torment and bitterness his affairs have caused my soul. It talks about waiting until your released by God so you can go in peace. My sister says he cheated and my heart is hard and those are the two reasons God releases you from a marraige. I haven’t called the police on him because god says He will reveal all in His time and to let him dig his own hole. But my family disagrees and I should report the last physical abuse, but he will go straight to jail for at least a year. I’m torn….
    I have tried to leave at least 6 times but run back from the torment of being without him and the thought of him with another woman. Please tell me your thoughts on all this if you can and or even want to attempt this mess.
    One more thing, my husband said he was a believer but not to long ago he revealed he’s going to heaven because he’s such a good person. Hmmmm, I’m trying to pray for him daily to keep my heart soft but it’s a struggle….I am a believer in Christ and the only way to God is though Christ.
    My kids are now 21 and 23. He has two kids from 2 others mothers who 1 he lost custody because of abuse and the other is 18 lives in Oregon with his mother and the’re fiine because he doesn’t live with us.

    My friend, I grieve just reading this. Indeed, please, please listen to your family. They are giving you wise counsel. You have been praying to God for help and perhaps this is the help He is sending. You need to immediately remove yourself and your children from this situation and this destructive relationship. You need Godly protection and wisdom. Please, please get to somewhere safe and then try to sort out your emotions and pain. In the name of Jesus, please send help to this dear reader. Bring her out of this torment and into the love and healing of Jesus Christ. Amen.

    I truly believe God led me to your post today.
    I’ll be celebrating my 2 year wedding anniversary on August 3. I’ve known my husband Jason for 4 years. I’ll be 27 this year.
    I grew up in a Christian household, and I accepted Jesus as my Savior at a young age. However, due to many circumstances and stubbornness on my part, I foolishly turned my back on God when I graduated college and moved to another state. I’d outgrown God. Plus, he’d forsaken me, so I thought, so why not forsake Him? I met Jason in 2010 and fell in love quickly. He told me he believed in God and prayed, etc. but I knew he wasn’t a Christian. He’d dabbled in many religions from Mormonism to Buddhism (he lived in a Buddhist monastery for about a year when he was younger). We lived together before marriage, to my parents’ dismay and heart break. We were married in 2012, and up until this month, life was great. Sure, we’d had many challenges (normal stuff like finances, career changes, etc.), but we’d overcome them. I felt so much pride that I’d defied the odds of knowingly marrying a non-believer. Then my world came crashing down.
    Earlier this month (week of July 4), we traveled across country with my mother-in-law to my husband’s home town in Colorado. Something happened to him in that town that made a darkness envelop him. Suddenly, a switch was flipped. He was no longer kind or thoughtful. He refused to touch me. He yelled at me and cursed at me. He was impatient and calloused to my needs. I was hurt. I was angry. I yelled and cursed back. I let the pity party begin and cried “woe is me.” We left his hometown July 6 and made our way to Idaho to meet his half-brother for the first time. I also met his father for the first time. The physical appearance of father, my husband, and brother was stunning. It was like seeing older versions of my husband. During that trip, my husband apologized to me and things seemed like they were on the mend. I chalked it up to our first fight (and being tired and worn out) and decided I’d work on being sweeter and more loving. On July 17, we were in Jackson Hole, WY when he told me that he wanted to leave me and that I was better off without him. I was devastated and hurt. That event brought me to my knees.
    That night, I spent hours alone in a hotel bathroom begging God to forgive me and to help correct the mess I’d made out of my life. I read the Bible that night for the first time in years and felt as if God were speaking to me once more. I realized that God had never walked away from me; he was right where I’d left him when I ran away. I felt peace flood my heart after repenting for the years I spent away from God and for foolishly marrying a man I knew wasn’t a Christian. I repented of the sexual immorality as well. I went back to bed that night and prayed over my sleeping husband begging God to save him and to deliver him from the darkness that had gripped him. I made a promise to God that night that I would keep my marriage vows and work to show the love of Christ to my husband through my words and actions. I begged God for grace and strength to accept whatever lied ahead and to maintain a heart that didn’t allow bitterness, frustration, discontentment, hatred, or pity to grow.
    Last night, I wrote a long letter to my husband reminding him of why I love him and how I was committed to this marriage. I told him that love doesn’t run away or fail, and that the harder he pulled away from our marriage and me, the more I’d cling to our vows and our love. He opened up to me a bit more later that night as to what was on his mind and heart. Before I go further, I should explain that my husband was a combat veteran and suffers from PTSD. His mind is a very dark place, as he has shared bits and pieces of his past with me. He said that being back in the mountains brought back all of the horrible things that had happened to him in his life (from childhood through adult-hood) and that he had changed. He said that while he loved me, I would face a lifetime of pain, disappointment, and misery with him. He said the switch had been flipped and that all of the evil and darkness he’d kept locked away in the corner of his mind had enveloped him. He said there was no returning from that darkness. He then said that we would never have children (we’d always looked forward to having 2-3 kids and had planned to start our family in the next few years). He said when he looked at me, he saw both love and rage. I became scared and asked if he would ever physically hurt me. He was silent for several minutes before saying he hoped not, but could no longer make that promise. I asked if there was anything I could do to help him after I reassured him that I wasn’t leaving him. He said leave while you can still find happiness. He told me I was a good woman and deserved children and a happy life, but he could no longer give me that. I pleaded with him that he’d dealt with the darkness before and had learned how to cope and he could do so again. I told him that I could show him a better way–a path of lightness, not darkness. My tears and pleas only made him angry. My tears especially seemed to disturb him, so I tried to reign my emotions in. After more talking, he agreed to come home with me at the end of the trip which wraps up next week instead of filing for divorce.
    He told me that I’ve lost the man I used to know and that I’ll never know that person again. To say I’m not fearful of the future is a lie. I’m trying to cling to the promises I’ve read in the Psalms where God promises to hear our cries and bring joy in the morning. I’m so weak, spiritually, that I fear I’ll fail my husband and God again. I plan to go back to church the minute we return home so that I can immerse my dry soul into Christian fellowship.
    In the meantime, I appreciate you reading this far, and I desperately covet your prayers. I am earnest in my desire to please God and win my husband to Christ, but I am praying for strength in the darkness that is rising. I feel like a helpless child on the precipice of a daunting cliff with the enemy nipping at my heel. Please pray that my husband will find deliverance and peace in Christ. Please pray that I will not run from God, but that I will grow and be an instrument of peace and grace. Pray that I will learn how to stand in the gap for my husband. I truly believe my husband is plagued with demonic forces (perhaps even a generational curse, if the tales I’ve heard of his father and grandfather are true). I want my husband to be released from spiritual and mental bondage and to find healing and redemption in Christ. If you have any words of wisdom or additional advice for me, I’m so very eager to hear it.

    I filed to divorce my husband because I felt he didn’t love me and he is always mean and hateful towards me. One night I heard a cry and another voice so I jumped up immediately from my sleep to see whom or what was going on in my room. I turn on the lights to see my husband on his hands and knees like an animal.so, I said I see you and I forgot what I SAID BUT HE LAID DOWN AND WENT BACK TO SLEEP. THE enemy HAS BEEN TORMENTING HIM AND ME BUT I’ve been praying for him and myself and our marriage. Your story is exactly whats been going on with my husband and he has been having affairs after affairs none stop and I know-it’s demons so please pray with me for my husband Andre and myself and our marriage..

    I didn’t know we can write a long comment. To add on to what I just wrote. My husband has been seeing other women . He hasn’t told me he love me except on some cards for my birthday in April in almost two years. He curses me and he doesn’t help me with bills at all. He takes his money and party and drink it up in the streets. I recently seen photos from some months ago that he has even been out to his mother’s house with other women. I was so hurt over this because me and her suppose to have been real close especially since I lost my mom three years ago. I just feel so betrayed and not loved. He doesn’t do anything with me not kind of dates or outings. I filed for a divorce because I almost feel like a maid instead of a wife. he was abusive now in then but hasn’t physically hit me in a while. I prayed and he has stopped fighting a lot he use to not want to hear anything with or about God . Now once in a while he will play gospel music and be nice to me. but soon as he get around certain women and men in the streets he become real mean and nasty towards me.He even made fun of me saying that’s why your mom is dead and mine is living i was very hurt but I know its the enemy because I haven’t let up praying for him and allowing him to make me get angry and respond in an unGodly manner. Well I have been praying for my marriage because I hate divorce as well as God. So pray that God direct my path and give me wisdom on what to do next. I don’t know rather to continue with the divorce or wait on God to save my husband.. Thank you so much for this post I know I’m not alone in this fight for my Marriage

    Hi Lynn, everyone has told me that God never takes ones free will. This is my second husband but father to my kids. I never thought he would have cheated on our marriage for almost 9 years of our 12 marriage. He has left the kids and I and everything seems to go well for him and the other women.
    My kids and I pray everyday for God’s will but my husbands heart hasn’t changed in anyway.
    I pray the prayer of family bondages but maybe God has spoken that my husband is not meant to be with us. I don’t know, I can’t hear him. My broken heart hurts that maybe I can’t hear god.

    I have been close to Christ since I can remember thoughts, I would get on the sunday school bus, without my parents, since I was 3 years old. I knew Christ and wanted to be as close to him, even at that age. I have been married 4 years now. My husband started this on our honeymoon, the day after we got married. He said he didnt drink before we got married. I found him drinking on the honeymoon. I asked him about it and then I found a note he wrote down stating I was a demon, a devil spawn, something not from God. He said marrying me was the worst mistake of his life and he was filing for a divorce as soon as we got back. Things NEVER got any better. My husband seems to battle harshly between Christ and Satin. I have stuck it out for our kids. I pray each and every day, nothing seems to penetrate. My husband has become very cold, distant, doesnt spend time with the kids or myself. Never looks at us in the direct eyes. He says the kids and I are all out to be evil to him and tries to separate himself as much as possible. He starts fights out of thin air. He goes gambling and loses lots of money. He threatens to divorce to get me at his will. When I ever ask if we can pray together or read the bible together. He says he doesnt need e pushing that bible stuff down his throat. (He said he was a Christian, when we met). He only watches and plays video games and movies that are violent…even when are children are around. Anytime I am positive or do something sweet…he gets upset. He yells all the time and says he hears me say things I didnt say. If I try and talk about our marriage or Christ he threatens divorce. When my son reads the bible aloud…my husband stares and goes to a different place until its over. There is no warmth…only coldness. He breaks my spirit down and then turns it around that I am the awful person and he is a great person that is a victim by me and the kids. I have anointed my doors with oil and managed to get some on my husband without him realizing…seems only worse since I did that. Saying all women are evil. I need your advice please.

    Hi….. I feel,as I am in spiritual,warfare now…. My husband has always read the bible and all kinds of books on Christianity …. But I feel he has never submitted he is a man who has no belief in supernatural. In march he asked me for a divorce …. We have been married 7 years… We are still in,the same house but he has filed. I a a Christian but was not living like 1 Peter chapter 3 …. I was not winning over without words but pointing fingers. In my own life i was not trusting God through 3 years of trials with children father ect…. God has opened my eyes I am for the first time turning everything over to him… I am praying the devil and his schemes of lust selfishness adultery whatever it may be away from my husband …. I do,want my husband back and I want a chance to be the Godly wife I should have been….. I am praying that the devil will not win and this divorce will not happen.

    I believe I am fighting a spiritual battle for my husband. After 6 years of marriage he has left our home 3 months ago. He is in an affair. He claims I am too uptight and boring because I do not drink and watch porn. He became angry, bitter, hostile and hateful towards me. He said very cruel things to me. When I asked him if we could pray for our marraige and for his healing, he yelled and called me names. He use to believe in God. He blames his actions on some verbal arguements we had. I have apologized remorsefully many times for the things I said. I know I was wrong in my mistakes. He won’t forgive me and says ending our marriage is the right thing to do because of the things I said. I’m sorry that I hurt him and feel much pain for my part. I accept that he does not want our marriage, however I am afraid for him. He is surrounded by darkness and evil. He has cut ties with anyone who disagrees with what he is doing. Everyone around him tells him that it is ok for him to be with this other woman, that pornography is just entertainment, that he should go out drinking (he is a recovering addict who had been sober for 6 years). When he began seeing Trisha and drinking he changed so drastically. He has 2 children from a previous relationship that we raised together since they were babies. I’m the only mom that has always been in their lives. He now refuses to allow me to spend time with the kids. Before he left home he would yell horrible things even cursing at them, he would lay on the couch and refuse to get up except to go see Trisha and go out drinking. I think something evil has control of him. I no longer have contact with him. How can I fight for him? I feel hopeless, tired and scared for him and our kids.

    Dear Lynn,
    Im not sure if youre still replying to these comments or not but if you do and you feel you have anything to tell me from God then please help. I am 14 weeks pregnant and I can not tell if my boyfriend is a Christian. He talks about God being God and putting trust in Him but there is no fruit and he has characteristics that i feel only God can change. He doesnt believe the Bible is the word of God completely and I can feel that there is something missing. I read your prayer and I want to pray for Him but im afraid my faith isnt strong enough and i actually feel id be too scared in that circumstance. Im so scared for my baby to be raised in a home that doesnt have enough faith or deep enough relationship. i dont know what to do.

    HI Ashlee, My friend this is a very difficult place where you are at. I’m so sorry that you are facing this kind of pain and confusion. May I please, please ask you to seek out a pastoral counselor to help you with your new future. Find a woman in the church or call Focus on the Family and seek out some help. If you have questions about your boyfriend’s faith. It’s best to just ask him straight out about his heart and intent. See if he can go with you to the counselor. I’m praying for you. My heart breaks for you knowing how scared you must be to face a new baby and an uncertain life. I love you my friend. Oh Jesus, please, please move in this young woman’s life. Give her wisdom. Let her be surrounded by wise and Holy Spirit filled believers who LOVE her regardless of her choices or circumstances. Please lead her to know what to do about marriage, her boyfriend, faith. Jesus love on her powerfully right now and bless her child. In Your powerful name. Amen.

    Hi I am so touched by all these women I used to ask myself if this is normal in a marriage I’ve been married for 12 years and my husband in the sweetest man when sober when he is drunk I will hear about my mistakes all day long he will even accuse me of things I don’t know off mine also is a long story being cheated on having lost 3 kids trough stress and high blood pressure and his girlfriends calling me a barren women, but now I am still in this marriage and I am stronger than ever I believe its God only who kept me strong for something better I believe that the fight was not against me but against my husband because when your husband is called the devil will do anything to make him go a stry Because he doesn’t want the will of God to be fulfilled. If we stand by our man in prayer when the will of God come to pass you shall be the 1 enjoying peace and rest in your marriage let’s continue to enter into ware fare prayers for them and the Lord will reward us in Jesus Name its not easy but with Christ we can do all thing

    Hello Lynn.
    I am married for 4 years. My husband and I are victims of the consequences of infidelity and adultery. He is a high school teacher. We don’t have kids yet.
    He had (or still has) an affair with his 16 year old student. The affair started last year, September 2013 and I only found out about it April this year. The girl is already in a different school now.
    Since then life was a struggle. I tried to control the situation and handled the consequences myself. For 4 months since April I was shattered and overwhelmed and exhausted of what is happening all around me and our marriage.
    He walked out on me last May and had been living with his Mom and sister ever since. He comes over during weekends. The routine was draining whatever’s been left in me. The betrayal, the deception, the secrets, the lies, their sexual acts… It was too much for me.
    I was driven to madness. I was angry and wanted to take revenge and expose their affair. I wanted to expose him in his school. I wanted justice. I wanted to see his remorse. I was hurting. I have all the evidences to expose them and I know that in just one move I can destroy them both. I want to destroy the girl, most of all. I wanted her out of our lives. I wanted her burn in hell. I wanted her die of shame and guilt…. I wanted to hurt them so much as to avenge myself…. But I couldn’t get myself to do it. Maybe I was a coward? Or afraid that it might worsen my husband’s situation? Or just weak..? I don’t know.
    Just this September I was invited by a friend to talk to their Marriage Ministry leader in their Church. Being a Roman Catholic person, I do believe in God but my faith was not that deep. From that day in September, I can say that God has been waiting for me to truly run to Him and really believe that He will fix things. It had helped me. I learned to read the Bible and understand His words. I receive frequent rhema words:
    “Salvation”…. “Be Still”… “God will fight for you”… “Don’t be afraid”… “God is my strength”…. As a stander and still praying for marriage restoration, His Words keep me holding on to hope. I still love my husband. I even think that I love him more now than ever.
    I learned to run to my Lord whenever doubts and confusion creep in. God has proven to me that He is on the move. There are small, baby steps of transformation in my husband. Although sometimes he still throw words of discouragement to me that he wanted to be out of our marriage and live his life as a single, doing whatever he pleases.
    I know I just have to trust God that everything is in His control even if it feels like a game of tug-of-war between two invisible forces. I pray hard and offer time of devotion to God. I believe He will save us…. But the fight was tough. I am still attacked by evil thoughts of revenge and getting even. My mind still races to think of ways to confront the girl and her family. In my mind there are still thoughts of things happening that I don’t know – things that might actually are so much worse than reality. These compulsions are so strong that fighting against these thoughts and impulse often beat me up and drive me to tears.
    I am restraining myself with the help of prayers to not make a move that might mess things up even more. I don’t want to intervene with whatever God is doing for us but being still is tough. I often feel like my husband or the girl, or the girl’s family (if ever they knew), and the devil himself is mocking me for my silence and perceived helplessness. Sometimes my mind create illusions and images that they are freely enjoying their time together. It feels like they are mocking me because I just let them deceive me and betray me more…
    I am still up to being a stander. Right now I stick to my exit routine out of desperation and hopelessness – I seek God more and more to dissolve my human desires of hatred and revenge.
    Please pray with me for me and my husband. May God bless you more.

    Hi Aaron, My Brother in Jesus Christ, you are indeed dealing with the demonic. Witchcraft is a wide open door that invites demonic oppression. I would surmise your wife is oppressed severely with demonic. Her fear and erratic behavior are because the demons are controlling her and every time she deals with you and your faith, they stir her up. Aaron, Please, please get with a pastor and get prayer. I would recommend the book, When Pigs Move In: How To Sweep Clean the Demonic Influences Impacting Your Life and the Lives of Others Paperback – February 6, 2009by Don Dickerman  (Author).  You have authority in Jesus to demand these demons to leave you alone. Your wife will need to repent and renounce all her past witchcraft and renounce and break all curses from the past. You will need prayer support as I can imagine this is quite frightening to you. But you can help her get free and keep yourself free and safe. Recognizing what is going on is a major victory.  More than anything, you need to be firmly anchored in the love and the Holy Word of God. Seek help in your area. Educate yourself and my friend, pray with fury, power, authority and love and compassion for your wife. It will be a difficult battle but with Jesus you can bring your wife safely to freedom and your marriage as well. Lynn Jesus, please give Aaron good counselors as he works to help his wife. Fight the battles for him. Give him courage and help. Send mighty warrior angels to battle the demonic and bring Your Holy Spirit with power into this home. In Your powerful name, Jesus. Amen.

    Hi Dear sister’s in Messiah Jesus. I am so touched to read all your stories and knowing that so many of you go thru all this. In a way I feel that G-d is letting me know that I am not alone, and in the words of the apostle Paul “No temptation has overtaken you but such as is common to man; and God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted beyond what you are able, but with the temptation will provide the way of escape also, so that you will be able to endure it.”
    My story goes like this: I married my husband on 2006 I have always had a hard time since the day We married, His parents hated me because I am not a white born Canadian, instead I am a mexican girl from a small village, no riches on me.
    Since the very first day I met them was awful, I could never imagine that someone could harbour such hatred. I tried always to be kind to them, for my parents taught me in the way of The L-rd, “DO NOT BE OVERCOME BY EVIL, BUT OVERCOME EVIL WITH GOOD” and that love wan not a feeling but an action. His parents got to the point of beating me, and they controlled my husband in such a way I was astonished.
    He would believe everything they said, and even made him quit His job in Vancouver and move back to Quebec from where he is from, with all tricks and manipulations. We arrive at their house, and everything was hell since the beginning. They would order Him to sleep in a separate bedroom and not speak with me, they would ask me repeatedly, the reason I had that led me to marry their son, they even asked how much did I want in exchange of the divorce. Everyday was awful, everything had to turn into an argument at the dinner table. His father has such an awful temper, that can make you shake to the bones when He is upset. I was terrified of Him, his mother pushed me off the stairs once in-front of My husband. But to all this my husband said nothing, he always said it was my fault, and called me all sorts of names and pushed and feel disgust at me, and leave me for days to go out with his friends. i had no family in Canada so I was left on my own. I did love this man, and I wanted to make things work, but nothing got better, I told my husband that we should leave his parent’s house because i could not take the abuse and that I wanted to live separate from his parents, after all we were only married for 4 months and I could not endure it anymore. We left and We moved to Mexico for a year, things were a bit better but He was still bitter, and everything turned ugly and he turned so aggressive towards me, but I still endured it hoping it would change. Two years passed we moved back to Canada, this time to where everything started “Vancouver”. G-d was using all this trial to bring me close to Himself and save me, I saw all the things and the bible and everything made sense and the L-rd found me, so my husband started to go to church with me for years, things got a lot better. We were far from his family. His family stopped talking to him when He told them he was a Christian, his only brother cut all ties with him for good. His parents slowly started talking to him with the condition of never mentioning the word G-d. So it was that my husband started to learn the bible, memorizing scriptures, was with a zeal for G-d and prayer and evangelizing even the Jewish people. Things were a lot better, He even confessed to be addicted to pornography and forsook it. He was more humble and caring, no more drinking or smoking by now we already had our first and only son. My husband was eager to teach his son in the way of The L-rd and I was happy, but I was keeping hard feelings towards him for all this 7 years of hardship and disrespect and even if things got better, I still questioned the sincerity if his sayings, for if ever he was upset he would still push me and look at me with this evil truly evil look, that I felt cold to my feet and could not explain it. He would do all this even in front of my son, and in his madness he would scream and shout, and threaten and jump off windows. I could not reconcile this things with all the Christian claims of his. He would terrify me and my son, and if it happened that I said something to him when he was in bed, something that he did not want to hear; for he never wanted to hear anything that he could possibly do wrong. He would jump of bed naked or in underwear and leave the house and wander in the streets, with his son seeing all this. My son is terrified of him and also I am, for when He changes like this is like an evil spirit overtakes him. By this time were are attending a congregation of jews and gentiles worshiping together the messiah of Israel, My husband was even delivering the Torah readings 3 days a month before the congregation. Teaching Jews and Christians How Jesus was the messiah and no other way to heaven is provided by G-d. But since 4 weeks ago my husband said He no longer believes Jesus is the messiah, and the he concludes Jesus is a liar an impostor and has forsaken the faith, and now he is going to Judaism. Since then I feel like no hope, I know the L-rd is with me but I am still so afraid. Since then he has turned into this angry man always threatening to leave me and his son. He tells my son that He will leave us, and always gets to angry with his evil looks and words and body language that makes my soul fear and my spirits and heart sink t the bottom. He says to me everyday that I am worshiping an idol and that I am a heretic. I know the bible says that those who understood about the way of salvation and left willingly, can not come back. It says it in the book of Hebrews chapters 10,3,6. He has us terrified because this is constant and if I say something that He does not like or if I look at him in a certain way and if I don’t kiss him or if I want a little time on my own.
    I am so worry this will emotionally affect my son, and constantly I feel stranded and scared. I know I have to trust in G-d that He will give me the strength to endure this, or show me the way I should go. Since I do not want my son to suffer the consequences of this troubled times. I fear for I know that the bible says that when a person rejects the message of salvation, that demon that has been driven out, goes and brings seven more worst than him, and that the state of that person is worst than at the beginning. I am terrified for I know the way He was before professing to know The L-rd, and that since he has forsaken the faith it will be 7 times worst. I fear that my son will end up all troubled like his father is. People that know my husband from the congregation friends of ours, have told me that He is mentally imbalance and that I have to ask the L-rd for strength and ask for protections over my son and I and to pray that G-d may have mercy on him. I am so heart broken, I really hoped for both of us to raised our son to serve the L-rd but I have realized that I am left on my own, but G-d is on my side. please would you please shed some light, or give me an advise of what to do.

    Your story is amazing. I am fighting a spiritual battle for my marriage. My husband strayed, walked out the door, and give or take, about 2 months later decided to come back home. This happened after I began praying fervently for our marriage to be saved. He has ended the physical relationship he had, but is still in an “emotional affair” with this woman. He sees her more than he sees me, talks several times day, she tests him all the time. We do not have excess money, but a lot of it is going towards her. He rationalizes that this is OK since she is just a “friend”. This is tearing me up inside because I love him and I know for a fact he loves me and wants our marriage to work. Today I met with a Christian friend who said if I want my marriage, I have to fight a spiritual war. My husband is a believer, but he falls “off the wagon” sometimes and then justifies what he does. I understand the evil that is encroaching in our lives. What I do not understand is exactly how to go about this. I have constantly prayed a prayer to save our marriage and to rid our lives of Satan and evil influences. God had actually told me that he would heal our marriage. I just have no idea “when”. How do I go about this? I have been listening to the “Love and Respect” CD’s constantly as well. So I know that getting reactive and mad at him is not going to get me anywhere. I also feel like telling him to make a choice is not going to go anywhere. So far I have told him a couple of times this is unacceptable to me. And continue to pray about it. This is where I am stuck because I don’t know what else to do. I know I have to fight this war but I don’t know how except to pray. I don’t want him to think that it’s OK by me to continue this by my just being nice to him and allowing it to happen. But I don’t know how to approach this except by prayer.

    Hi Suzi, My friend, I will pray for you and the full restoration of your marriage, in Jesus name. In my heart I'm especially moved to ask you to seek out counseling. I'm convinced that you need a strong Christian counselor or pastor to help you walk through this very difficult place in your marriage. I would ask you to call your church today and asked to visit with a pastor. I know that they could give you wise advice about how to find healing and also to seek the appropriate boundaries with in this situation with your husband. I love you my friend. I am so sorry you're going through this. And indeed it is a spiritual battle. Pray like crazy and ask others, especially at your church, to pray with you.     Hi Lynn,
    Thank you for this site, it is very encouraging. I have known my husband for over 10 years. We have been friends for a long time before we got into a relationship. He is a follower of hinduism, not very religious. In the beginning of our relationship, we spoke a lot about our faiths. He was initially very receptive of Christianity. He is very close to his family and his mother told him that I am just trying to convert him to Christianity. Since then he has been offended by Christians and is totally against hearing the name Jesus. We have been through a lot with our relationship and eventually got married this year. We live in peace when we don’t talk about faith. His family has an expectation that I convert to Hindu and he is pushing me to do it. He does not let me go to Church, read the Bible/Christian books or listen to Christian music. He is scared that i would convert him one day. I know that true conversion is a change of heart that comes from God alone. He has been threatening me to convert to Hindu or he’ll leave me. I do not know how to deal with this situation. I cannot pretend or bow down before any other God. My heart belongs to Jesus and I cannot imagine myself converting to any other faith. I quit my job couple of months back and have been spending time worshiping Jesus and reading the Bible in secret when my husband is not around. I feel so broken, hurt and lonely. I know that my struggles are spiritual but I need prayers and direction on how to talk to my husband. Please help!

    Oh Lord Jesus, Right now I ask for your favor, wisdom and discernment and courage for JP. Lord, this is a difficult place to live. And the fear and pain must be deep. But Jesus, greater are You. So we ask for you to bind the demonic in this family line and release your angels and the Holy Spirit into this home. Surround JP with Your Presence and love. Fight for her. In Jesus name. Amen.

    I hear the heart cry of JP, hold in there JP God hears your heart. My husband and I are also married for about a year and he is also a hindu. Unlike JP there is no pressure from his family for me to convert and he is happy with me going to church and praying and fasting. But I know that I was not obedient when I married him as I was drifting in my relationship with God. He is a fantastic husband and we get along so well, obviously we have our differences and we are both sometimes very stubborn and opinionated but we are both easy to forgive and move on. He has is vices as well like drinking and sometimes his ego gets in the way and he wants things his way, but over the last couple months I have seen him trying to please me more. He doesn’t like hearing all that I have to say about Jesus and is also under the impression that Christians are not tolerant of other religions, so I stopped talking christianese and decided that I needed to be more Christ Like. Oddly enough in the beginning of Dec the Holy Spirit lead me to place my hand on my husbands back as he was sleeping and pray for him and now in Jan I come across this website as I was searching scripture to pray over my husband as I am doing my Daniel fast. God is amazing and so much of peace flooded my heart as I read your article and I realised that the battle is not mine but the Lords and He is worthy to be praised and adrored. I also realised that my hubby is not the enemy. So please pray with me for my husbands salvation, I believe in Gods words and He is faithful to accomplish that which He has set out to do, and His word will not return unto Him void. ‘This is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Savior, who desires all men to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth.’1 Timothy 2:3-4.

    I have been married for 26 years this May. At the time of our marriage, although I was raised in the church I was not a strong Christian. My husband also said he believed but was not strong. We went to church for the first part of our marriage but it was not reflected in our home life. In 1992 our oldest son died. My husband stopped going to church regularly. Over time he stopped going at all and started talking against God and the Church. Five years ago, God brought me through trials which opened my eyes to the fact that I needed to live my faith. My husband is now very angry – he does not want me to mention God or Jesus. Our children have followed his beliefs (other than my youngest who has been baptized and is very active with youth group at our church). My oldest daughter and her husband claim to be bisexual and he mocks my faith and Christianity. My husband convinced my third daughter that I hate her because she is gay – I have spoken with her and believe she understands that I love her no matter what but that I believe homosexuality is a sin – and that we are all sinners – we all have to try not to sin. My second daughter and oldest son are very much like my husband – very anti God and can argue almost any aspect of Christianity vs Atheism. My fourth daughter is still trying to figure out what she believes. Your site has given me hope. I feel like a failure to my family that it took so long for my eyes to open to Christ and that I am not a great witness at home. I pray for them and that my youngest son will stay true to Christ.

    Please pray for my husband Jimmy’s salvation. Our marriage is on the brink and I am 7montgs pregnant. He is out of the country to visit family since he lost his job recently. I don’t even know if he is coming back at this point.

    It is 3:15 am in Paris. I need you all to interceede with me for the father of child who promised marriage after our daughter but is now completely possesed with the spirit of sexuality with all sorts of women seduced via internet, in Paris and when he travels home. I do not want to live in sin and my prayer is that the Lord does some divine intervention for this lost soul. I want to believe the Lord for transformation and marriage. Bless all you angels that support me in this battle. As I Fix my eyes unto Jesus, I pray for great faith to move mountains. Amen
