Thankful Thursday – In The Storm

 Every tear. Every question why. Every pain. Hurt and every disappointment. God has filtered it and will use it for good. I am living proof of this truth.

Romans 8:28 And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.

I'm not thankful for disaster. I'm thankful that God will not waste it. That out of it He will bring good and all for His glory.

    I’m thankful to God that He is teaching me patience and reliance on Him for strength and sustenance. I’ve been studying Isaiah in a women’s Bible study and many verses can be used in our circumstances, including this one:
    “You will keep in perfect peace him (she) whose mind is steadfast, because he (she) trusts in you.” Isaiah 26:3
    There are others, but that one comes to mind because I memorized it to the Happy Birthday song 🙂
    I used to be fearful about “my situation”, afraid that hubby won’t come to Christ because he still has to make the choice, God can’t make him choose. My hubby’s salvation had become an idol. But I realized that, even though God can’t and won’t make him choose Him, I can still have the expectant hope that God will continue to soften his heart. I now have peace about it, and can go about shining Him, for him.
    Make it a God day!

    How true this is. I live here in Birmingham Al and being in the state of where the deadly tornadoes occured let alone only 25 miles away is humbling. In the mist of this disater, the outpouring of help is unreal. It is going to take a long time to clean up and start over, but Gods people are truly at work. My children and freinds are having an ice cream fundraiser for the tornado victims this Sunday and I pray that Gods blessings will be there. I want to help and I want my children to see what it means to be a christian in the time of need.

    LOL! That is my life verse and God has proven that to me since I was a child, before I could even read that verse! I think this is one of THE MOST IMPORTANT TRUTHS we need to learn because then we can trust God completely with our lives. 🙂

    What a great way to express thankfulness after a disaster — that God will put it to good use. Amen! We are grateful for the rain here in Texas, and continue to pray for those who have suffered in the devastating storms. Have a blessed week!

    Romans 8:28 is my life verse too! I was listening to James MacDonald teaching the other day and he said something like until we learn to embrace the trouble God can’t use it in our lives. It brought tears to my eyes because sometimes it is really hard to embrace the troubes that come into our lives, but God has proved over and over again to me that his grace is sufficient and he will work it all out for my good and his glory. I thank God that I have him in my life and that I trust him completely to do just that.

    Loved this post. My favorite verse, along this same line, is what Joseph said to his brothers: What you intended evil for me, God meant it for good to save MUCH people. [Gen. 50:20]

    Although I am not ‘glad’ to be going through suffering I definitely appreciate how it keeps me on my knees and causes me to draw near to God. I wouldn’t trade the privilege of being that close for anything. It doesn’t necessarily make it easier to go through the suffering but it is certainly worthwhile.
