This page is to honor our ministry partner, Rosheeda Lee, who went home to glory on April 5, 2013. Rosheeda served this community with such love that we are forever changed.

It is with deep grief and shock that I (Lynn) and Dineen write to
you today. On Friday, April 5, 2013 our dearest sister in Christ, Rosheeda Lee,
was killed in an automobile accident. 

 

Rosheeda was on her way to meet us at the Intentional Life
Conference that afternoon. The details are sketchy right now but they think she
was trying to avoid an accident, swerved, lost control of her SUV and it
flipped. She did not suffer and the LORD was so gracious in limiting her physical trauma to her body. She
passed on her way to the hospital. It was quick and she DID NOT SUFFER. 

I don’t even know how to convey to you how much I loved Ro
and how much Dineen loved her. We heard the news early on Saturday morning before
our conference began. I cried my eyes out. I’m still crying, so is Dineen and I
know may of you are as well. 

Ro was an intricate part of our ministry here. She has led
our annual fasting in January for years. She just wrote our Easter devotions
last week. I’m re-reading them now with new love and grief. She also handled
our prayer team and our Twitter account. She did all of this because she loved
me and Dineen and she loved all of you so very much. Mostly she loved Jesus and His people.

What I’m discovering over the past several days is that
Rosheeda served like this wherever she was. She has touched lives for our Jesus
in ways we will never understand or uncover but Jesus saw every deed. 

MOSTLY JESUS SAW HER BEAUTIFUL HEART. 

She is home now with our Daddy and she would likely be
sayin, “Y’all, why you bein’ sad? I’m having the time of my life and will see y’all
soon.” 

WE LOVE YOU ROSHEEDA LEE. 

You have left a lasting impact on our lives. Dineen and I
can’t wait to hug your neck in glory. 

My friends, let’s honor Ro by sending a card or even better
a hand-written letter to her parents and share how she impacted our lives with

how she encouraged you, share your love for her, your thoughts on her service to all of us and how her love impacted you. We would be so, so thankful. We are trying to
work through our grief which is compounded knowing she was on her way to meet
us.

are having an amazing experience but for those of us still here, we miss you.

    Dear Lynn and Dineen – about your statment that your grief is ……compounded knowing she was on her way to meet us.
    This proverb came to my mind: actually from Math 6, 27:
    Can any one of you by worrying add a single hour to your life?
    So let you be comforted: God knew about it and said: it is good.
    Dear Lord, Ro came into my life when I didnt understand You at all – let alone my husbands thinking and reaction to You – Ro encouraged me with Your Word and I am strong because You spoke through her to me. I today can now encourage others – Praise Jesus – and Thank you Lord that Ro didnt have to suffer, that she is with You today and in eternity. Yes, I shall miss her, she had such a deep relationship with you and yet….was so very honest about how things were. She taught me that I am allowed to yell to You and You alway listen. She taught me that You are the GREAT I AM. So in that belief, I know You know what is best for Ro and for us. I know You will continue with us, until our walk is also finished and we will come to seeing You Jesus. Halleluja! We love and honor You oh God and thank you for the time I had with Rosheeda, Your beloved child. I love you Father, in Jesus Name Amen

    I’m so terribly sorry to hear about Ro’s tragic accident. The first thought that came to my mind was that Jesus was also so very moved by all of Ro’s beautiful and inspiring words, prayers, and posts during Holy Week that he wanted to reward her the best way He knew by thanking her in person and ushering her into his eternal Kingdom. My heart breaks for Lynn and Dineen as I’m sure you were both super excited about the conference and to have such a sad event precede it was more devastating than I could imagine. My prayers are with you and of course, Ro’s family & close friends. She was a treasure and had a way with words. May she rest in eternal peace with God whom she truly glorified here on earth.

    Your light shone bright sweet Ro. Your words have left an imprint on our hearts. Your presence on this site will be missed but we celebrate knowing where you are and in whose arms you are in. God is calling us all to come home and one by one we will go if not all together. It is a very poignant manner in how God brought His child home. She was on her way to meet Him in Spirit at the conference. His plan was for her to meet Him for real.
    We will always remember your encouraging and inspiring words of love Ro and your strong faith in our Saviour! XO

    I can’t even form whole thoughts. I was just starting to get to know this wonderful woman. She was so encouraging to me with my walk with Jesus. I had a dream prior to all this about her giving a friend of mine an encouraging word from the Lord. The first post I ever read that she wrote, I knew she was the real deal and I wanted to be like that. She was very humble when I told her that and very loving. Again, I didn’t know her very well, but I would have liked to.
    Lord, thank you for the time I did get to talk with Ro. Thank you for the light she done in this ministry and in her everyday life. I am happy that she gets to be with you and I know you well ease our sadness in time. Please comfort Lynn and Dineen in this time add well as all the other sum-ites. It may have surprised us, but not you. We thank h you for her life. In Jesus name, amen.

    Ro had a beautiful heart that touched so many lives because of her love for Jesus. I’m still shocked and grieving and missing her presence in my life but I am also taking comfort that she is in the presence of the one she loved the most. To hear the sweet stories from those she touched brings tears to my eyes but also a smile. This is her legacy…Love Jesus and love others.
    Our days are not guaranteed. We do not know when we will be called home. Teach us dear Lord to number our days and live them to the fullest abiding in You.
    Comfort us dear Lord and comfort Ro’s family. Thank you that you brought her in to our lives.

    Dear Abba, please bring comfort to Ro’s family and friends, especially her parents and husband.
    I thank you Lord for her amazingly beautiful heart, her overflowing Love for You and her powerful encouragement.
    Though we never met face to face, she personally wrote me a letter from God when I was feeling really low. I still pull it out when I start to feel sad. Thank you for that Ro!
    I’ll get to hug you my friend, that I know for sure! And we will continue to pray for your husbands salvation!

    I pray that God will give her family a peace that comes straight from Him and allow them to see what a blessing she was to everyone she knew. She really was an angel straight from heaven and she will be greatly missed even by those of us that never met her face to face.

    I only knew Ro for a little while here on the internet because I am fairly new. She gave me many words of encouragement starting out with our weekly fasting. Because I take medication that requires that I eat, I felt I could not participate in the fasting. Ro discussed with me that I can fast in other ways by giving up something that can be hard to do. For me that is giving up my daily coffee. While getting the caffeine headaches, I would read Ro’s blogs that were so inspirational it would touch me in many ways. I could tell in her blogs that she loved the Lord with all her heart and loved her SUM friends. Because of her great love and her blog posts, it helped me want to share that love. Thank you Ro for sharing with me the love of Jesus.Thank you Lord for leading me to this wonderful community. I will miss her.

    I am very sad to hear this, it seems as though the Lord is gathering his Army. We have had many Godly people pass within the last month or so. Ro was so encouraging to me, her love flowed through her words. But she is home with our Father now. I know she can’t wait for the rest of us to join her. My prayers are with her family and friends. Ro…you will be missed down here. The world is a bit darker without you SIC. I can’t wait to meet in our eternal home….one day…soon.

    Abba Father, we are taught through Your Word that Your ways are not ours. That reality is a deeply complex one, particularly when we are faced with senseless tragedies such as this.
    Ro was one of your saints here on Earth. She loved you with such a passion; her love was palpable and inspiring. She was our sister in Your Son, Jesus, too. She is now dancing with the angels in heaven, as we remain here on Earth, grieving our loss. Saddened. Stunned. And perplexed.
    Let us hold tight Lord, to each other, and to the belief that, You know best for all of us. Even though it is hard for us to understand that calling Ro home was Your Perfect Will, please comfort and have mercy on us, Father, by bringing each of us in this community — Your community — peace and love to our grieving, heartbroken souls.
    We love you, Ro. Put in a good word for us, okay?

    Ro,
    I only really ‘met’ you this january, so I didn’t know you as well as the others. But I remember those holy week reflections. I was behind because the week was so busy and I finally had some peace and quiet kneeling in the chapel after Holy Thursday Mass and I read through each one of them on my iPhone and prayed those prayers from my heart and you took me on a beautiful mini lenten journey, and it was, just PERFECT.
    Thank you for all the love you’ve poured into this community and and all of us!
    Daddy, Abba, I pray that You would surround Ro’s family, her husband, her parents, (any kids?) with Your profound comfort and peace during this time, and in the months and years ahead. May each one of them feel our prayers and may these prayers and our words shout loud to all her family how much she was loved, and may her life speak volumes to those who knew her, that God is REAL and truly present with us, madl in love with each one of us and that He is always, ALWAYS Good! Amen.

    I too, only “met” Ro just this past January. I was so moved during the fasting by her words that were clearly God-ordained. It was the first time I’d ever fasted in my Christian life. It was a wonderful experience for me, and I was so looking forward to the time I’d have for “next” time when Ro would lead us again. She was definitely being used by God in big ways and touched so many lives. What we all strive to do if we follow Jesus. So glad that our “paths” crossed. I look forward to dancing with her in Heaven on day.
    Yesterday when I found out about Ro, I was in shock. Reeling from the feelings I was experiencing. I wondered how I could feel so connected to someone I never really met. It was then that I realized that her familiarity was her love of Jesus. I knew Jesus’ heart through Ro.
    It was only a few hours later and I had a phone call that shocked me even more learning that a co-worker’s husband had passed and a dear friend of mine lost her battle with cancer. I’m sad for sure, but reminiscing on how each of these people’s lives were intricately woven into mine with the details of a master artist. God knows what he’s doing. He knows who we need to be in our lives for the season. He knows just how to use them so we can be better people and grow in our relationships with Him. He is in control in all ways in every event.
    Resting surely in knowing that in my surrender to God that it does not mean I am going to have an easy road, but God’s ways are better and in experiencing all of my life’s challenges, He will be with me. Thank you, father God. You are Holy!
    Praise God for Ro! Ro, dance with Jesus! Sing with the angels. “See” you soon!

    It is so interesting to feel so connected to someone you have never met. But, that is the power of love that reaches across miles, through computer screens, and comes from the power and annointing of Jesus Christ. Ro was, indeed, a powerful voice on this site that has touched many lives in the past, and will continue to touch as each person holds onto a special word that she gave to them.
    Even though this is a day of remembering Ro, I just have to add this note. I was at that conference in Kingwood, Texas and I saw two ladies put aside their own shock and grief, and deliver the message to the ladies there that God had given them.
    Lynn and Dineen’s poise, grace, and love, despite the presssure they must have felt, was absolutely remarkable and those ladies’ lives were touched on Saturday. Many stood in long lines waiting to be prayed for af the close of the service. God did show up big time.
    I know Ro would have been proud of the way they carried out the conference and was probably even saying: “You go girl!”

    Dearest Lynn and Dineen, I know how much you loved Ro….it was so evident when you spoke of her. And she was an awesome woman of God. When we know our Lord, it is right that when there is a homegoing we should celebrate. For they indeed are having the time of their life. Someone said to me when my husband passed away, “It’s not the death that hurts so much…it’s the missing them.” That is soooo true. I know you will miss your Ro and all that she did for the SUM community but I believe God has someone else already lined up to slip into Ro’s place in your ministry. He is just kinda good like that. Still know that I am praying for you both as you deal with your loss of such a special friend, as well as Ro’s family. Love you gals, so much!!!!

    Lynn,
    Thank you for the tribute to Rosheeda. She would be humbled that she impacted the lives of the beautiful women & men of the SUM community.
    God gave me the gracious honor & privilege of experiencing the gift of
    friendship with her for a little over 8 1/2 years. She was more than a friend to me, she was my sister & confidante. Next to Jesus Himself, she knew me better at times than I knew myself. She was so loyal & would call me every day just so we could talk, laugh, and vent to each other about any and everything that was our hearts.
    I know personally, she was so excited to meet Lynn, Dineen, & the men & women she has impacted in serving with SUM this weekend. She was content & at peace b/c she was doing what she loved-serving others.
    She loved (still loves) God, Jesus, & the Holy Spirit with ALL of her heart. She was determined to display her love for Him with her life with the people she invested her time with by showing unconditional love to others, accepting them for who they were, and encouraging them to change for the better.
    She was a strong advocate of being courageous, fearless, & following your heart.
    She was my inspiration, & “shero”. I looked up to her.
    She was so wise beyond her years during her brief time here on Earth.
    I love Rosheeda & I miss her so much. 🙁
    I am grieving her loss much to the point my heart literally aches.
    However, I know she wants me to go on & live my life. She would want everyone to do the same because she was also a major advocate of enjoying your life & doing what you loved.
    She was (and still is) a beautiful person, but I know she is an even more beautiful & vibrant angel in Heaven & I know she is my guardian angel now.

    I was just getting to know Ro through her posts and am saddened at this news but do not that she is in Heaven dancing with Jesus. I loved her prayers. Her love for our Lord was evident in them and will miss them dearly. My heart goes out to our community, Lynn and Dineen, and to Ro’s family, all those who loved and knew her. May our Gracious God fill each one of you with His peace that passes all understanding.
    Father, fill that place that Ro held in our lives with everything of You! Guard our hearts and minds from any lies the enemy may throw at us. Sometimes God, these things just don’t make sense. But we know you have a plan. I ask Father that you send someone alongside this ministry to pick up where Ro left off. No one will ever be able to fill her shoes, but we know God you are faithful and wait for you to reveal your plan to us. Be our Jehovah Jireh. Your call continues in our life, Lord. Give us strength. May we strive to be the faihtful servant Ro was until you call us home. I love you Lord. I thank you so much for this community, the way it is shaping and changing my life, marriage and family. May what the enemy intended for harm, be made good through You. It’s not gonna be easy, but with you Lord, we can do all things. Amen.

    My prayers go out to all of you! I was so encouraged by her. I have done the fasts with SUM, and read all posts. I will miss Ro and will miss her beautiful devotions and prayers.

    Hello,
    Rosheeda was in a relationship with a man who loved her deeply. They never married legally, but in her words, they were “married spiritually in God’s eyes.”
    She wanted children, but had none biologically, but she was like a mother to many children in the Youth ministry she once served in, to the children she would babysit, & her niece & nephew.

    Rosheeda is receiving her glory in the presence of Christ for her steadfast love, neverending compassion, spiritual insight and her calling to lift up this community of believers! May God comfort her family, friends, and may her life shine on in others…making her glorious work on earth continue to move onward and upward.
    I will miss her personal insights, her humor, especially, and her zest for God and all things spiritual.
    You, Ro, have the ultimate prize we all will strive for! Amen!

    Dear Gals, It is with saddened heart that I write to you. I’m so thankful that we know that Ro is holding His hand but my heart grieves for her family and for you and the community of SUM. Ro was such an incredible woman of God, such an encourager, such a warrior princess.

    Ro reached out to me when I started a blog back when my husband and I were engaged. She always had a word of encouragement, a prayer, or a virtual hand to hold.
    My heart breaks for her family and our SUM community, but I am rejoicing in knowing that she is in the arms of our King – praising, dancing, singing, and whole.

    Isn’t it amazing Noreen how a lot of us have not even met in person yet Jesus has brought us so close in heart it’s like we know each other on a whole deeper level. Faith is powerful to bring others together so strongly even through the internet!? I couldn’t stop thinking about Ro and her family today. Thoughts of her in many songs I listened to on the radio. I believe we’ll be sensing her spirit her with us for quite sometime! Hugs to you Noreen!

    You are so right. Lynn and Dineen had such poise. Their message was impactful. God strengthened them for the job he had them to do.
    I was listening to some reaction in the audience. One woman said that the conference was easily as impactful as 5 sessions with a marriage counselor!

    I love Ro. What an amazing woman of faith. How did she have time to reach out to so many of us on a personal level? She prayed for my husband personally and offered me such encouragement.
    I re-read some of her posts. She could have written worship lyrics. Her prayers were so beautiful. The love just came through.
    At the conference, Lynn invited us to a 100 year reunion in heaven. Let’s all get together then with Ro and each other.

    I still am having trouble wrapping my mind around the fact that Ro is gone from this world. I keep expecting to see a funny little comment from her on this site or FB.
    Ro was an amazing woman and touched my life in so many ways. The one I remember the most though was a couple years back when we blogged here on SUM together. That brought us closer together and we started texting and emailing more frequently at that point. I’m going to miss her funny comments and personality so much. Her sense of humor was so in tune with mine and we just “got” each other. I’m going to miss her wisdom and her obvious love for Jesus and His Will. I’m going to miss bouncing ideas off one another. And I’m going to miss the dream we had talked about every once in awhile about writing a book of our own – a duo like Lynn and Dineen.
    She has inspired me so much in my walk with the Lord and I will always remember her and cherish her words and her faith. She will continue to inspire me until the day I can stand before the Lord myself. I just know as I do I will see her smiling face peeking over His shoulder waving at me.

    What a tragedy. Grief is a strange emotion but we are fortunate that whilst our Lord celebrates with Ro, He wraps those big arms of His around all of us as He feels our pain.
    I didn’t know Ro much at all, however, she had this infectious love for the Lord. I was amazed how she was able to succinctly communicate in her posts all the Lord was revealing to her.
    Let’s hold each other up (and her family & friends) in prayer. Especially thinking of you Lynn & Dineen.

    Chrystlyn, Thank you for sharing about your personal relationship with Ro. My heart breaks for you and H. and her parents and all those who loved her. I was so excited to meet her at the conference this weekend. As others have written, it is strange to feel so connected and familiar with people I have never met. It was such an honor to finally meet Lynn and DIneen and look into their faces and see Jesus! I know if Ro had been there I would have seen the same thing… the pure love of our sweet savior. I’m sorry I didn’t have the chance to “get my Praise on” with Ro. I think we could have raised that roof and I suspect some laughter would have been heard also. I know Heaven couldn’t get any better, but it sure seems a little sweeter today and maybe just a bit livelier.
    To Lynn and Dineen, I am including you in my prayers for Ro’s family. I saw how deeply you loved her. She wasn’t on the way to the grocery, or the dentist or to a hundred other places she could have been going. No, she was called home while en route to serve the Lord she loved so much- SO much better!
    Father God, thank you for sharing Ro with us, and thank you for taking her gently home. Thank you for using her while she was here in such a mighty way. Give comfort to those who are grieving. Remind us each day who we are in You. More of You and less of me, Lord. May we pay tribute to Ro by loving each other more. We praise You and worship You. Amen

    I only knew Ro for a little while here on the internet because I am fairly new. She gave me many words of encouragement starting out with our weekly fasting. Because I take medication that requires that I eat, I felt I could not participate in the fasting. Ro discussed with me that I can fast in other ways by giving up something that can be hard to do. For me that is giving up my daily coffee. While getting the caffeine headaches, I would read Ro’s blogs that were so inspirational it would touch me in many ways. I could tell in her blogs that she loved the Lord with all her heart and loved her SUM friends. Because of her great love and her blog posts, it helped me want to share that love. Thank you Ro for sharing with me the love of Jesus.Thank you Lord for leading me to this wonderful community. I will miss her.

    Oh, I am so sorry to hear this! I only knew Ro through the amazing devotions and encouragement on this site, but I was extremely blessed by her writing. She so obviously loved Jesus that it just oozed out of her words. It’s exciting for her that she is with Him now! My biggest HUGS to you who knew her better than I, and to Lynn and Dineen!     I am deeply saddened that we will no longer hear her sweet and precious prayers that she so eloquently wrote, they spoke right to me and straight to God, I printed several of them so I could re-pray them. I feel so blessed to have heard her sweet loving guidance, I could tell she loved this community and that it meant so much to her.
    I wish I had the capacity to create a small printed devotional could be made in her honor that had all of her SUM postings. She was truly an inspiration.

    Hearing this news saddens me very much. When I saw Ro’s name as the title of today’s post, I was looking forward to reading one of her posts. I just gasped and could not believe this sad news. While I never met Rosheeda face to face, I felt like I knew her through her posts. I imagined her to have such a warm, welcoming spirit and what you saw is what you got. No fake or phoniness about her. It was always evident, through her posts, how much passion, love and boldness she had for Christ. I’m new to the SUM community and I really enjoyed Ro’s posts during the January fast, as well as the Holy Week/Easter posts. While I know, without a shadow of a doubt she is with our Lord and He welcomed her in with
    ‘Job well done, thou great and faithful servant’, I will surely miss her.

    Though I didn’t know Ro personally I was touched by her life. I am thankful that I was able to see her words and prayers on here in the week leading up to Easter. Her words hit me straight in the heart. What a wonderful woman of God she was. I am very sad to hear about her passing. I can only imagine how hard it must be for you both and for her family and friends who loved her so much. I am praying for our Lord to surround you all with His overwhelming presence and love. I pray that He would bring you all peace in knowing that she is in the BEST possibly place she can be… in the arms of Jesus. I have tears and a heavy heart right now as I write this knowing how hard it must be for all the people who loved her dearly. I pray that God will walk through this with you all.     Every time I read a new post here on SUM I would always look for Ro to see what her take was on the blog of the day and also her response to mine or other posts here. Without fail she was always dead on for the moment, it was like she made that light go on like ” duh why didn’t I see it that way?” Not only that but there was always great comfort found in her words……ok big chills now, the light just went on again Ro, I hear ya “COMFORT Heidi? Girl that was JESUS you felt/heard!” I’m missing you yet stilling your comfort here this side of heaven. Love you Ro, Dineen and Lynn!

    Such sad news on a day when Rosheeda was to join you (Lynn) and Dineen for the conference in Texas. Though many are heartbroken and in dismay at losing such a dear sister in Christ, may we be comforted to know that Ro was a faithful servant and mighty prayer warrior. She is an example of Jesus in action, serving others and encouraging all who met her in this precious community of like-minded believers.
    May her memory live on in those who knew and loved her, and may her legacy bring forth much fruit in the years ahead – all for the Glory of God.
    Rest in peace Rosheeda – we will see you soon…

    I am thankful for the opportunity to have known Rosheeda through 1P3 and SUM. She had a servant’s heart and was devoted to us as evident through the wise and encouraging words she wrote and shared. I appreciate the times that she lead SUM and 1P3 through fasting and prayer. And the time that she lead the study on the book “The Love Dare.” But more than that, she was passionate about God and if our purpose in life is to bring God glory….my friends, she did that well!

    I am so SORRY to hear this!! Another example of how life really is a vapor, we just never know! Reason why we have to live life to the fullest and for HIM and Rosheeda was a perfect example of that. I haven’t known her long,for I haven’t been with this group that long, but I was very touched by her writings and her love for all of us. Tho I never met her,she will be missed!
    And my heart goes out to her family and close friends and to you Lyn and Dineen who worked closely with her and were looking forward to seeing her that day. We don’t understand why things happen like they do, but know that God is HOLDING you both and everyone who misses her, let HIM rock you in his arms. Thinking of you too Chrystylin and how close you were too her. Let God HOLD you!

I too was excited when I saw her name I thought she was about to give one of those jesus prayesrs that makes you wanna do the old black church lady shout! her devotions during easter touched my life in a mighty way.i cant wait to get to heaven and thank her for showing us such a godly example even though I only know her from reading the post on this sight.it was like hearing that your bestfriend past.wow!

    I’m stunned and sad. I’m so sorry for your great loss.Ro was a precious soul. No,we never met,but you just knew she was special. Her posts and leading through the fast was a blessing. My life grew by leaps and bounds after this….and she had a part in that. May God bless you each and all who are impacted by this sweet woman. God bless you as you remember His goodness through her life. Thank you for the privilege of being touched hrough Ro. Comfort those here and in her family near and far. Walk close with Heath.     I imagine the testimony Jesus is giving as he recounts Ro’s time with us will be looooong and filled with many eternal blessings & treasures she may have never even known she was a part of. Including my first ever week-long fast. Had it not been for her dedication & commitment, I would have never believed it was achievable.
    I imagine she is now fighting for, cheering and praying for all of us– here at SUM, her cherished friends, blessed church family and most definitely her beloved family. No doubt her prayers on her side of eternity, in the presence of Jesus, will continue to encourage, grow and bless all of us!

    I have been sitting for a little over an hour. Staring at the computer screen at a loss for words and not knowing how to start. I do want to say that I am so thankful for all of you ladies. I am so sorry that I have not been participating like I would want to . I have been here pouting in my mess! So ungrateful! My God! I, like the rest of you will miss Ro’s beautiful words of encouragement. I’m only sorry that I did not get to know her more. I had no idea we lived so close to one another. I wish I would have reached out more. The funny thing is I have been feeling at my wits end in my marriage and God reminded me that I have support HERE! When I felt as though I had no one else. I was in my car and came onto the site to grab some encouragement. I was happy to see Rosheeda Lee’s name as a title. I thought for sure she was going to give me something good. Then to see that she is no longer with us; just crushed me! I am praying for her family and church family. I am also praying for you Lynn and Dineen. I am praying for peace for us SUMites 🙂 Ro it is because of your words I was reminded of where my encouragement lies. I thank God for the small interaction He allowed me with His precious angel.
